Snow at Ghost Mountain View Area, More snow across Utah, Spending the night just outside Ely :)

We awoke  Sunday morning at the Ghost Mountain Viewing area where we spent the night. The lovely rain we fell asleep to turned into snow overnight! We had a good 2 to 3 inches on our steps outside.

This morning at Ghost Mountain, UT

Ken started the generator and it warmed up the Mansion nicely. 28 degrees this morning!

Coffee, breakfast, showers etc I went to close the slide and it started "jumping" I told Ken and he realized there was snow on the slide. He cleaned it off and we got out of there just about our normal time of 1100. LOL.

A beautiful drive across Utah, but climbing the grade it was snowing more. We took our time, and Ken did an awesome job of driving in the snow and the grades. Never expected any of this! We did see a semi that had hit an embankment and a car that was off the road. Of course Utah has an 80 mile an hour speed limit 😱and some idiots just don't care what the weather conditions are. It was slow going, but gorgeous.

Honestly gotta love the traffic compared to 80, 10, 8 or 40!!

A little slow going here, but that's ok!

We really didn't hit any more active snow, but the views were incredible with snow covered mountains! I told him "it looks like Christmas"..not what he wanted to hear Hahaa. (Cause you know I'm decorating the bunkhouse after the 1st of November LOL)...

We pulled over and had a late lunch at a pull out. We were heading for Sacramento Pass and the campground there. We gained an hour coming into Nevada, it was cold and windy so decided to move along to just outside Ely, Nevada another hour or so. We pulled into wildlife viewing area for the night that's for Ely Elk.  As soon as we pulled in it started snowing pretty good! Beautiful.

We had some great  phone chats with Christina, Bryan and Adam tonight. 💗

Climbing a bit before Ely..

Coming into Ely, NV..

Our view when we pulled into the wildlife viewing area for the night.

Originally we planned on staying at Illipah once again on the way home. Snow and cold has changed our minds. Monday we'll head on home. Ken can barbecue there just as well 😊

It's been a great trip and I wouldn't change a thing. We had a wonderful time! Surprising that winter came so early, but it's oh so beautiful.

We've got company coming this week for John and Karen's Halloween Party on Saturday, so a good reason to get on home!

I wrote this Sunday evening, but not posting until Monday morning, so you can see our morning view! I know my Canadian friends don't want to see this!

                                          Waking up to these

                                          temps this morning.

Our view this am

Ice crystals on the inside windows. We are warm and toasty though!

The generator ran all night and so did our heater! Testament to a Honda generator! Pipes are frozen except for the kitchen, so it looks like we'll be quicker getting out of here than our normal time! LOL. Showers will have to wait :(

Since it's our last morning out, we're heading for our favorite restaurant in town for breakfast. That should hold us until we get home this afternoon.

Have a wonderful day! 💗

  2. There is not much prettier than the snow against those rocks. Although I can do without it while traveling, you have to admit, the snow is beautiful!

  4. No No No!!! I love looking at the pictures, I just don't want to be driving in it. I did that about 3 years ago on the same road. Every time I went over a hill, I held my breath!! It's not even the snow, so much as the ice!!! Jonathan would NOT be happy! Safe travels on the final leg.
