Santa Fe to Pagosa Springs, CO

Thursday morning we left Santa Fe about 1030 after doing laundry and having breakfast.

Followed Highway 84 to Chamas, NM. As we were driving had a nice chat with Ken's brother Don until we lost service. Gotta love bluetooth.LOL.

We spent a couple of days in Chamas several years ago after attending the Albuquerque  NM Balloon festival. Back then we rode the train from Chamas to Colorado. It was an awesome ride and we hope maybe next year to do it again!

On our way to Chamas, NM

The mountains are incredible!

The drive was awesome and the colors were incredible! I certainly get why people leave CA to move to Colorado.

We pulled over and had lunch in an old abandoned parking lot in Chamas, then moved on down the road.

We were near Pagosa Springs and Ken pulled over.  We wanted to visit Blue Spruce Ranch for the night. Well, today they closed for the season :( We were there about 21 years ago when we had there after visiting  our Kansas cousins and then were headed home. How time flies and how things change!

Luckily we found a great campground along the San Juan river for the night. You can tell it used to be a KOA by the shape of the building.

I could live here! :)

We got settled in, had a nice little fire
just in time for Happy Hour.
While Ken barbecued I enjoyed watching
the leaves fall 💙🍂🍂🍂

Great check in people and the one of them took us to our sight. They close on November 15, which is much later than most campgrounds in this area.

We have a beautiful sight, with views of the river.

We were only staying one night, but after discussion we've decided to stay another, so today we'll spend the day playing tourist in Pagosa Springs :) Lots of antique stores in town, so let's see what we can find. 😊

Last, but certainly not least, one of my handsome grandsons💙

It's Senior Portrait time! 💙😭 Where did the time go?!!!

Have a wonderful day!

  1. We stayed at a tiny RV park in Medicine Hat Utah. I think there were 10 spaces. The San Juan River was pretty brown in that area. Your rv park is a lot prettier than Medicine Hat.

    1. We are loving it here, but time to move on. :( They told us in the office that if you want to be here in the summer, you have to book in February. I like this time of year better!

    1. We loved that year of train and balloons. My favorite time of year when the aspens are aglow!
