Home and a busy May coming up...

Ken, Me and our oldest son Bryan (2months old)
June 1973..sure doesn't seem that long ago

Well, here it is Sunday afternoon already! We've been hanging out at home which is nice..

Friday, I finally got all my kitchen cabinets cleaned out. Now every container has a lid that matches haha. Kind of like socks those lids just disappear! Believe it or not it took me most of the day to get that chore done. Now on to the blue room's closet..uhh.

Ken's just waiting for the winds to die down so he can get the weed sprayer in service. He's also been working on the 73 Dodge truck. On vacation we decided we need to get rid of a vehicle, we own too many. Looks like the Dodge is going somewhere. Our son, Bryan had said if we ever get rid of it he wanted first dibs. At this point it looks like it will be going to that house. Being a 73 it does not have to smogged in CA which is a big savings.  It does need some work but nothing too expensive we don't think. Ken pulled the brake drums off and it all looks good. We've got to get some mud flaps for it, as that's required in CA (not Nevada).
Drums in excellent condition..

All good too..

Yesterday morning Ken and Joe went out to breakfast at Dini's and spent an hour or two catching up.  after he got back he worked on the Dodge and I decided to get outside and enjoy some fresh air. Temps were a little cooler but not too bad.  I got the hula hoe and wheelbarrow out and spent a couple of hours getting rid of some tumbleweeds out front. This is the time of year to do it as they pull right out of the ground. Made a huge burn pile and Ken burnt when I was done.
I ran in to get my camera and it burned in about 30 seconds :)

Some of the property with two of our tractors..

Just looking at some of the property..and our little home..

Our  grain drill   at the beginning of our driveway

Ken's got the sprayer on the wagon to pull around..

Neighbor Karen stopped by while I was outside and kind of made plans to get together in the afternoon. About 1600 we headed next door for Happy Hour which turned into four! LOL..We sat outside and then as it cooled went inside. Her hubby, John is working in Tonopah, NV until Wednesday so we helped her to not be so lonely. haha.  Joe and Rylee stopped by there for a bit on their home. So it was a really nice evening. We lucked out in the neighbor department I'm telling you!

This morning, Sunday we made plans to meet up with Joe and family, along with Susan (Stacey's mom) at 0800 at Dini's for a delicious breakfast and good conversation. We got home and Ken made a fire in the wood stove as it's only about 44 degrees here today.  Don't think it's going to make the predicted high of 57.
Looked out our bedroom window this am and saw the stripe of
sunshine on the far field. Had to run outside to get it :))

All those clouds and a little strip of sunshine :)

Sunrise from our kitchen window

I started a load of wash and later noticed the lid locked was flashing and it's stuck on final spin.  After playing with it awhile we've determined it's time for a new washer. After looking online awhile decided we'll probably head for RC Willey on Tuesday. Oh well, gotta be done.

Can't believe it's almost May! Looks like our May is going to be busy, between CA trips, dr appointments, Tonopah NV Memorial weekend and then Reno to see grandsons play some basketball on that Monday. Just gotta enjoy the down time when we can! Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday Bryan! Enjoying these beautiful temps!

Good morning from Yerington, NV!

Happy Birthday Bryan!  Our oldest son turned 45 (OMG) yesterday (April 26). How on earth did that happen!?  I texted him in the am thinking he was at work but turns to he took the day off.  Around 1700 we called and had a nice visit. He and Cheryl had lunch at the Mexican place in Cool that they like and then had a lazy afternoon.  Back to work today.
Our 45 year old son!! :))

My goal was to clean out all the kitchen cabinets and see if I could find a place for the goodies I bought at Winco the other day.  Started the morning with our coffees (my tea) and visiting with our blogging friends.  We did our exercises and treadmill.  Ever since Ken fixed it a few weeks ago, it's running just fine (darn...hahah just kidding)... Time for breakfast and my shower.

Noticed i was at the end of our banana bread and apple oat muffins so time to make those. Ok, then it's time to get the salad stuff together for lunch. Done. Ken wants mashed potatoes to go with his ham for dinner. Made those. I want grilled veggies and spaghetti squash with a light sauce. Done, somewhere in there we had lunch about 1300.
Veggies ready to grill

After lunch continued to work in the kitchen and around the house and at 1700 the cabinets hadn't been touched! Ahhhhh! Oh well that's what tomorrow's for right!?

Ken worked outside all day!  He fired up his concrete mixer and used about 3 1/2 bags to finish the little walkway he started last winter before it got to cold and we left this area. Looks really good.  It was 86 degrees yesterday..cooler today 75 and then high 60's over the weekend. Sure can't complain.
The dark area is our new concrete

Looked like we might get something, but nothing...

He also got this plant in the ground. We tried to grow a hydrangea last year but it didn't work. Give this one a go.
I forget the name, but will have pretty purple flowers

Around 1700 we both called it quits, talked to Bryan and headed for the front porch swing for Happy Hour.  The weather was perfect and we enjoyed for a while. Nice way to end the evening.
We had a little wind on our front porch view..

We had our dinners which turned out delicious.  We had recorded the movie "Country Strong".  We're thinking they made the series Nashville from the movie, which I enjoyed very much. The singing in it was more like "real country" than all the garbage that's out there now. Ken fell asleep and I watched till the end. This morning I told him the rest of the movie, as it's a "chick flick". hah.

A nice sunset

Our Grandson Seth had a baseball game in Vacaville, CA yesterday. Eric drove down to watch after he got off work and on the way home they stopped for a visit with my mom and daddy at the National Cemetery where they are buried. He sent the pictures below. :)

Some pics from the weekend and Washoe Lake State Park

We woke up yesterday morning at Washoe Lake State Park. A cool morning but still near 40 degrees heading towards 78. We took our time getting out of there because we knew we only had an hour and a half at most to home.  I was able to get the trailer cleaned before we left so all I had to do was empty the refrigerator and get the other basics out once we got home. Taking our time we were still out of there around 1000 I think and home before 1200.

Work done, so we just enjoyed the afternoon doing what each of us wanted to do. I've decided it's time to clean out the cabinets in the kitchen and rearrange some things.  I love Winco and my purchases show it! haha..

I've posted some pictures that I wasn't able to post Monday because of the slow internet.

Ken next to the 61 Chevy

What a thrill, we got to go for a little ride in the 61! Eric
has done an amazing job of getting this beauty to purr...

The 61 Chevy..she's not pretty, but she's getting there!

Another blurry one :( Ken and Eric chit chatting..

Love this radio speaker in the back seat of the 61..

The view from Eric's front yard

Our view from our campsite at Washoe Lake State Park, NV

We decided to take the 97 Ford (aka: Money Pit) over to Ca instead of the Tundra as the Ford gets much better mileage when pulling the trailer.  Diesel is actually running a few cents less a gallon than gas also.  We're thinking if we keep it in the CA and NV area it could last a long time. If it breaks down then we won't be too far from home either. LOL..
Our campsite ..love this place

Our Happy Hour spot..

Sun's going down..

Happy Hour

Thought this was cool..not a cloud in the sky but we thought this
might be a fire..didn't amount to anything..

Ken bar b quing dinner on this carry rack that Eric had and
gave to us..I can see it's going to come in handy!

This morning after visiting with friends and getting ourselves going we're going to head for Fernley, NV and Lowe's. Grass and weeds are starting to grow with the nice weather so we're hoping to get some weed killer for the sprayer and some concrete to finish up the walkway to the garage.

Have a wonderful day everyone!  82 degrees expected here but a cool down in the next few days...

Time flies! Happy Birthday Eric and Adam..Ca and then Washoe Lake State Park..

Well, this is a first in a long time that I've gone a week without blogging. Where did the time go?! I have no idea but it certainly has moved on.  Now it's been long enough I definitely don't know all of what was done last week! AHHH hate it when that happens. But here goes...

Wednesday I went to Scolari's and spent quite a bit of $$ on groceries. We could have gone to Walmart but decided that the 100 + mile trip wasn't worth the time spent and $$ saved.  I like to buy local when we can anyway.

Thursday, was our middle son Eric's 43rd birthday! I had talked to him earlier in the week and he wanted Super Burritos for his belated birthday dinner on Friday. Super Burritos were something we made a lot when the kids were teenagers! I cooked the meat, cut up the veggies and got stuff ready for that dinner.  I popped a ham in the oven as I knew Saturday their day was filled with baseball so figured that would be an easy dinner along with some homemade potato salad that I made too.  Also, a double portion of Pioneer Woman's Tater Tot Casserole was thrown together and cooked.  I've got to admit I really enjoy  cooking, especially when we're visiting one or more of the kids.

Friday morning we got the food loaded into the trailer along with anything else we needed for a few days. We headed out around 1000 or so and had a lovely drive over Highway 50 to Cool, CA.  I texted our youngest son Russell to see what their plans were for the weekend. They were headed to Los Angeles for the weekend with their oldest, Jacob. He was playing basketball in a NCAA Showcase Tournament.  We wouldn't see his family this time.

Our lunch spot at Hope Valley, CA

Coming into Eric's driveway..

We got there before anyone was home, but got set up and then I had Christina pick me up at the end of the road so I could go with her to one of Grandson's Seth's baseball games. Seth plays first base for Golden Sierra and they killed the other team (which happened to be Highlands High, where our own kids graduated from many years ago).
Seth playing 1st base!

We headed back home where Ken and Eric were enjoying a couple of beers. Eventually we had dinner and those burritos were as good as we all remembered! YUM..
Christina takes these birthday pics every year..

2018..Seth, Eric and Mason :)

Saturday morning we enjoyed a bit of the casserole and then proceeded to get ready to head out.  The kids all headed for baseball. Ken and I were headed down the hill to Carmichael to meet up with family and to celebrate our oldest grandson Adam's 19th birthday. My sisters, husbands, Ken's sister Diane and his mom all showed up to celebrate and have a wonderful lunch as always at Garcia's.  Chris was our waiter and he had my wine on the table before I sat down..:)

Adam and his Uncle Bobby..

Ken and his mom!

Blurry I don't know why..Ken, Adam and his great Grandma..:)

After lunch Ken and I headed to Georgetown to have some cake and ice cream for Adam's birthday. Adam's dad, Bryan was working so it was a small gathering.  We stayed a couple of hours and then back to Cool for the night.  Enjoyed the evening visiting with Eric and Christina.  The boys Seth and Mason were there, but being teenagers we didn't see much of them..
Ken and Eric had Moonraker hazy IPA, Ken's first..he liked it!

The goats..Fancy, Diamond, and Clarabelle

Ken and our Grandson, Mason..:)

Sunday morning I went in the house after a cup of coffee with Ken and Mason was ready for me to come inside.  He waited to have breakfast to see if I would cook :))  Made my day!  Got some pancakes going for him and Christina. Eric had left about 0545 to go to work. Seth was headed over to his girlfriends for the day so I made him a breakfast burrito for on the go. Ken had some of Ree's casserole and I had egg beaters.  A good morning! Christina left for a nail appointment and we were ready not long afterwards.

We again took highway 50 towards Gardnerville, NV where Ken ran into Walmart for a couple of things.  We then headed to Carson City and Washoe Lake State Park.  Why not? It's free with his parks pass and we have our 2nd home with us.

We got a nice space and eventually he made a fire that we enjoyed very much. He bar b q ed a turkey patty for me and he had a delicious cheeseburger.  My homemade potato salad alongside and it was a great dinner!

After a fitful night's sleep we're up and getting ourselves going. We're headed to Reno and a few stores.  Winco, (there goes the grocery budget), Sam's Club and wherever else we need to go.  We're going to stay one more night and then head home tomorrow.

Glad to have this blog caught up (as well as I can remember).  Hope everyone has a wonderful day! :)

Pictures are taking forever to load...so tomorrow I'll update after we get home with more. Have a great evening!
