Washoe Lake State Park to Paso Robles, CA

Good morning from Paso Robles, CA!

Thursday morning after finishing loading up we headed to Gardnerville to pick up prescriptions and then headed over to Washoe Lake State Park.  We're able to stay for just $10.00 a night with Ken's senior state parks pass.  This includes water, electric and a dump station if needed. Can't beat that.  The sites have been redone, so most of them are pull thru's which really makes it nice.

On our way there my sister Wendy had texted that her hubby's colonoscopy didn't go as planned.  He was on his way to the hospital with what appeared to be a perforated bowel. The hospital was so backed up with a line of 7 ambulances! CA for ya! Eventually they performed emergency surgery on him and he'll be in the hospital for 5 to 7 days. Needless to say he's in a lot of pain. He's got breathing issues along with all that. He's in good hands now. Hope you're feeling better soon Shawn!

WE got there around 1430 and just enjoyed the afternoon.  Happy Hour and dinner.  A little tv watching and then time for bed!  We sat the alarm for 0430!

A great sleep was had and we were ready to get moving.  Of course our idea of moving in the morning put us on the road at 0800.  We had a beautiful drive down highway 88 ending up in Stockton, CA which is definitely NOT beautiful.  You can't believe the homeless camps all along the sides of the freeway! I thought Sacramento was bad, but this was really truly lots of garbage dumps and tents. I was too busy looking to get pictures!

Had a nice drive down I-5 except for the trucks and the fact that everyone is such a big hurry to get somewhere! The main reasons we avoid the interstates as much as possible!
Above Kirkwood CA highway 88

I love the little towns on 88

We got to John and Karen's spot just about 1630.  They were outside by their 5th wheel and had gotten a fire going.  So we parked the Mansion and met by the fire for Happy Hour.  We enjoyed visiting for a few hours and Karen had made us all a delicious chicken enchilada dinner with mexican rice, guacamole and home made salsa, it was so yummy!  Thank you Karen and John!

We called it a fairly early night and then didn't wake up until 0630 this morning! Breakfast, showers, dishes all done, so we'll see what the day brings! It's a beautiful day.
Stole this pic of Seth from FB..
He looks good and happy don'tcha think?!💙

That's it for pictures as internet is slow.  We supposedly have a "wi fi booster" in
here but I'm sure if it works anytime or with electricity.  We are going into town to pick up a connecter we need here. We'll be here until Monday morning, guess we should get a map out sometime and decided how to head east!

Have a great day!

Washoe Lake State Park, Reno, New brakes on Tundra..home again!

Yesterday (Tuesday) we got ourselves up pretty early and visited with our friends to see what they're all up to.  Most are traveling so it's always interesting to see where everyone is!

Cold, 17 degrees to wake up to, glad we had our furnace running and good blankets on the bed.  We were ready to go around 0930 and Ken decided to take the Tundra and get some gas while I was going to meet him at Lowe's once he was done.

Got our bucket he was after and a case of water then off to Carson City Toyota for the 5,000 mile service.  We took the Patriot and headed off to Reno and Winco.  We hate waiting for the truck to be serviced so we always bring two vehicles.  We were inside Winco, when we got a call from Marty the service guy. The rear brakes needed to be replaced. We knew it was getting close, so we weren't surprised.
Our view from our site

Spent quite a bit at Winco, getting ready to cook for Thanksgiving. Then it was off to Total Wine (shocking I know)..haha.  Wanted to get a little whiskey for Thanksgiving as the boys seem to like it.  Bought Veteran owned Leadslingers and then a good whiskey from Tennessee called Lonehand. The bragging rights at Total Wine is that it was Lincoln County processed.   The associate there said he drinks it quite a bit. Yep good stuff! Had a coupon for 15% off 6 bottles of wine, so bought that too.

We were getting close to 1330 so decided to head for Carson and have Chinese at our favorite restaurant.  The hot and sour soup was so good on a cold day.  Then to pick up the truck and leave a nice deposit with them (at least we didn't have to do all at one time).

Back to camp!  About 1600 Ken started a nice fire because we knew it was going to get colder!  We enjoyed just sitting by the fire for an hour or more and then back inside.  Had some dinner and some tv and then off to bed.

A nice comfy night under flannel sheets and the furnace running when needed. Again a low temp night! Started the coffee about 0600 and read our friends blogs and a few other things.  I left first as I wanted to visit Kohl's and Walmart in Carson City before heading home. Before i knew it 1200 so I called Ken to let him know I'd be later than I thought. He said he'd wait for me to get home and we'd have a late lunch.  Close to 1430 by the time we were done. Oh well..salad so it wasn't difficult.
There's our 2 day home :)

He did his part in unloading the truck and trailer, and I did mine. Now it's Happy Hour time. We'll see what tomorrow holds.

I'm sure everyone has heard about the devastating fire in Paradise, CA. So much sadness but saw this today and thought I would share...Paradise fit it's name and now....

Amazing the flag is still there..

Our little neighbor Rylee brought these over..She made and
decorated for us :)

She made this sweet card too :)
Grandson Adam was at the river a couple of days ago and
girl he was with caught this picture..His dog Raider is there
with him too!

Have a great evening!!

Some pics from the weekend and Washoe Lake State Park

We woke up yesterday morning at Washoe Lake State Park. A cool morning but still near 40 degrees heading towards 78. We took our time getting out of there because we knew we only had an hour and a half at most to home.  I was able to get the trailer cleaned before we left so all I had to do was empty the refrigerator and get the other basics out once we got home. Taking our time we were still out of there around 1000 I think and home before 1200.

Work done, so we just enjoyed the afternoon doing what each of us wanted to do. I've decided it's time to clean out the cabinets in the kitchen and rearrange some things.  I love Winco and my purchases show it! haha..

I've posted some pictures that I wasn't able to post Monday because of the slow internet.

Ken next to the 61 Chevy

What a thrill, we got to go for a little ride in the 61! Eric
has done an amazing job of getting this beauty to purr...

The 61 Chevy..she's not pretty, but she's getting there!

Another blurry one :( Ken and Eric chit chatting..

Love this radio speaker in the back seat of the 61..

Our view from our campsite at Washoe Lake State Park, NV

We decided to take the 97 Ford (aka: Money Pit) over to Ca instead of the Tundra as the Ford gets much better mileage when pulling the trailer.  Diesel is actually running a few cents less a gallon than gas also.  We're thinking if we keep it in the CA and NV area it could last a long time. If it breaks down then we won't be too far from home either. LOL..
Our campsite ..love this place

Our Happy Hour spot..

Sun's going down..

Happy Hour

Thought this was cool..not a cloud in the sky but we thought this
might be a fire..didn't amount to anything..

Ken bar b quing dinner on this carry rack that Eric had and
gave to us..I can see it's going to come in handy!

This morning after visiting with friends and getting ourselves going we're going to head for Fernley, NV and Lowe's. Grass and weeds are starting to grow with the nice weather so we're hoping to get some weed killer for the sprayer and some concrete to finish up the walkway to the garage.

Have a wonderful day everyone!  82 degrees expected here but a cool down in the next few days...

Time flies! Happy Birthday Eric and Adam..Ca and then Washoe Lake State Park..

Well, this is a first in a long time that I've gone a week without blogging. Where did the time go?! I have no idea but it certainly has moved on.  Now it's been long enough I definitely don't know all of what was done last week! AHHH hate it when that happens. But here goes...

Wednesday I went to Scolari's and spent quite a bit of $$ on groceries. We could have gone to Walmart but decided that the 100 + mile trip wasn't worth the time spent and $$ saved.  I like to buy local when we can anyway.

Thursday, was our middle son Eric's 43rd birthday! I had talked to him earlier in the week and he wanted Super Burritos for his belated birthday dinner on Friday. Super Burritos were something we made a lot when the kids were teenagers! I cooked the meat, cut up the veggies and got stuff ready for that dinner.  I popped a ham in the oven as I knew Saturday their day was filled with baseball so figured that would be an easy dinner along with some homemade potato salad that I made too.  Also, a double portion of Pioneer Woman's Tater Tot Casserole was thrown together and cooked.  I've got to admit I really enjoy  cooking, especially when we're visiting one or more of the kids.

Friday morning we got the food loaded into the trailer along with anything else we needed for a few days. We headed out around 1000 or so and had a lovely drive over Highway 50 to Cool, CA.  I texted our youngest son Russell to see what their plans were for the weekend. They were headed to Los Angeles for the weekend with their oldest, Jacob. He was playing basketball in a NCAA Showcase Tournament.  We wouldn't see his family this time.

Coming into Eric's driveway..

We got there before anyone was home, but got set up and then I had Christina pick me up at the end of the road so I could go with her to one of Grandson's Seth's baseball games. Seth plays first base for Golden Sierra and they killed the other team (which happened to be Highlands High, where our own kids graduated from many years ago).
Seth playing 1st base!

We headed back home where Ken and Eric were enjoying a couple of beers. Eventually we had dinner and those burritos were as good as we all remembered! YUM..
Christina takes these birthday pics every year..

2018..Seth, Eric and Mason :)

Saturday morning we enjoyed a bit of the casserole and then proceeded to get ready to head out.  The kids all headed for baseball. Ken and I were headed down the hill to Carmichael to meet up with family and to celebrate our oldest grandson Adam's 19th birthday. My sisters, husbands, Ken's sister Diane and his mom all showed up to celebrate and have a wonderful lunch as always at Garcia's.  Chris was our waiter and he had my wine on the table before I sat down..:)

Adam and his Uncle Bobby..

Ken and his mom!

Adam's mom Cheryl texting a picture to Bryan (Adam's dad) who was working..

Blurry I don't know why..Ken, Adam and his great Grandma..:)

After lunch Ken and I headed to Georgetown to have some cake and ice cream for Adam's birthday. Adam's dad, Bryan was working so it was a small gathering.  We stayed a couple of hours and then back to Cool for the night.  Enjoyed the evening visiting with Eric and Christina.  The boys Seth and Mason were there, but being teenagers we didn't see much of them..
Ken and Eric had Moonraker hazy IPA, Ken's first..he liked it!

The goats..Fancy, Diamond, and Clarabelle

Ken and our Grandson, Mason..:)

Sunday morning I went in the house after a cup of coffee with Ken and Mason was ready for me to come inside.  He waited to have breakfast to see if I would cook :))  Made my day!  Got some pancakes going for him and Christina. Eric had left about 0545 to go to work. Seth was headed over to his girlfriends for the day so I made him a breakfast burrito for on the go. Ken had some of Ree's casserole and I had egg beaters.  A good morning! Christina left for a nail appointment and we were ready not long afterwards.

We again took highway 50 towards Gardnerville, NV where Ken ran into Walmart for a couple of things.  We then headed to Carson City and Washoe Lake State Park.  Why not? It's free with his parks pass and we have our 2nd home with us.

We got a nice space and eventually he made a fire that we enjoyed very much. He bar b q ed a turkey patty for me and he had a delicious cheeseburger.  My homemade potato salad alongside and it was a great dinner!

After a fitful night's sleep we're up and getting ourselves going. We're headed to Reno and a few stores.  Winco, (there goes the grocery budget), Sam's Club and wherever else we need to go.  We're going to stay one more night and then head home tomorrow.

Glad to have this blog caught up (as well as I can remember).  Hope everyone has a wonderful day! :)

Pictures are taking forever to load...so tomorrow I'll update after we get home with more. Have a great evening!
