Another catch up. SNOW! Ken's cardio appointment :) Birthdays

Well, it's hard to believe the last post was the 16th and now we're at the 29th of January! Guess it means not a lot of excitement going on here at the homestead :) It's flying by though!

Sunday we awoke to a dusting of snow! Most of it's
gone now, so just perfect!

It's been really cold here some mornings as low as 6 degrees and some highs in the 30's. Ken's keeping the fires burning so we are nice and toasty inside. Even though the outside temps don't keep him from finding things to do out there!

Ken had a cardiology appointment last Friday with his Physician's Assistant Jennifer. Everything looks good! No more AFIB, the ablation seems to have fixed that problem. They are still keeping him on the same meds, blood thinner, blood pressure, water pill and cholesterol (even though he doesn't have high cholesterol at all) it's to protect the heart. He'll see her in 6 months and sees his regular cardiologist in March. Such a difference from last year at this time! 😊

We ran yesterday to Carson City so he could get fasting blood tests done. Results were in last night and all his numbers are fantastic! 😊

Last Sunday of course, was Champagne Sunday here. We woke to SNOW! Ken made a nice fire in the outdoor kitchen and we spent alot of the day out there. He barbecued delicious cheeseburgers and we were really bad and had fries and onion rings. Once in awhile, you just have to!

Cheers!

Ken's plate πŸ˜‹

I had mine on a low carb tortilla, with guacamole,
amazing!

Adam came home from the Southern California last Thursday after 14 days of 14 to 16 hour days. I don't think he'll be going back anytime soon. The worst was the traffic in that area. He's done. LOL. He had 5 days off and today is his first day back to work.

January 19th was my sister Wendy's birthday so sister Linda and family took her to lunch. Probably the last time, as Wendy moves to Arkansas on April 7th.

Brother in law Bobby in the back, Chelsea, Wendy and Dusty
Cassidy and Owen in the front! πŸ’—

January 19 was also daughter in law Christina's birthday and the 13th was daughter-in-law Cheryl's birthday. The 31st is grandson Mason's 20th birthday! How did our grandsons get so old already!?

Cheryl's granddaughter Mia graduated from Esthetician school last week. Congratulations! Mia was always Baby Mia to us for many years. No baby any more!
Congratulations Mia! On the right!

Jacob left today! SNOW overnight! Flooring project has begun :))

The big news of the week is grandson Jacob left this morning on the USS Theodore Roosevelt for waters unknown to us.  He'll be gone 6 to 9 months. To say as grandparents we are incredibly proud of him, would be an understatement. πŸ’™ Jacob, you will be missed and in our thoughts and prayers daily! Love you! πŸ’–

This picture gets me every time πŸ’– One last hug before he left. Love the ship in the background.

He was supposed to leave yesterday but because of some kind of a delay Russell, Lori and Allissa got one more day with him until he had to be on ship at 2300.

Russell, Allissa, Jacob and Lori enjoying a drink on Tuesday night.

The proud parents and Jacob πŸ’™

This one includes our sweet Allissa πŸ’—

USS Theodore Roosevelt..Aircraft Carrier! One huge ship!

Russell had to register to get on base.
They pulled up a photo of him from
when he was in the Marine Corps.
He was 18 and he's 45 now..Yes,
they took a new picture. He looks
like such a baby here πŸ’™

When we went to bed last night it was snowing. We didn't really expect much but woke to at least 6 inches with snow drifts at 12..Cold!

The stock tank really got a lot considering there was
no water in it at all!

Since we only get snow a few times a year, we do enjoy it!

The flooring project has begun! One happy girl here! Since Ken decided to do it even happier that we don't have to pay to have it installed πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ We did buy him a
new circular saw though. LOL.
We bought 5 boxes to start, which should do the kitchen.
Goodbye ugly floor that I've hated for almost 5 years. It
was supposed to be squares and ended up being diamonds.
Ken told me from the beginning to get a new floor, but since
we paid a pretty penny for it, thought it might grow on me.
It didn't! LOL. Living room next!

Right now it's 23 with a feels like 18, thinking this snow will be around a bit! LOL.

We've had a fire in the wood stove all day, so it's nice and toasty here! Looks like a trip to Home Depot soon and more flooring. I'm loving it!

Snow at Ghost Mountain View Area, More snow across Utah, Spending the night just outside Ely :)

We awoke  Sunday morning at the Ghost Mountain Viewing area where we spent the night. The lovely rain we fell asleep to turned into snow overnight! We had a good 2 to 3 inches on our steps outside.

This morning at Ghost Mountain, UT

Ken started the generator and it warmed up the Mansion nicely. 28 degrees this morning!

Coffee, breakfast, showers etc I went to close the slide and it started "jumping" I told Ken and he realized there was snow on the slide. He cleaned it off and we got out of there just about our normal time of 1100. LOL.

A beautiful drive across Utah, but climbing the grade it was snowing more. We took our time, and Ken did an awesome job of driving in the snow and the grades. Never expected any of this! We did see a semi that had hit an embankment and a car that was off the road. Of course Utah has an 80 mile an hour speed limit 😱and some idiots just don't care what the weather conditions are. It was slow going, but gorgeous.

Honestly gotta love the traffic compared to 80, 10, 8 or 40!!

A little slow going here, but that's ok!

We really didn't hit any more active snow, but the views were incredible with snow covered mountains! I told him "it looks like Christmas"..not what he wanted to hear Hahaa. (Cause you know I'm decorating the bunkhouse after the 1st of November LOL)...

We pulled over and had a late lunch at a pull out. We were heading for Sacramento Pass and the campground there. We gained an hour coming into Nevada, it was cold and windy so decided to move along to just outside Ely, Nevada another hour or so. We pulled into wildlife viewing area for the night that's for Ely Elk.  As soon as we pulled in it started snowing pretty good! Beautiful.

We had some great  phone chats with Christina, Bryan and Adam tonight. πŸ’—

Climbing a bit before Ely..

Coming into Ely, NV..

Our view when we pulled into the wildlife viewing area for the night.

Originally we planned on staying at Illipah once again on the way home. Snow and cold has changed our minds. Monday we'll head on home. Ken can barbecue there just as well 😊

It's been a great trip and I wouldn't change a thing. We had a wonderful time! Surprising that winter came so early, but it's oh so beautiful.

We've got company coming this week for John and Karen's Halloween Party on Saturday, so a good reason to get on home!

I wrote this Sunday evening, but not posting until Monday morning, so you can see our morning view! I know my Canadian friends don't want to see this!

                                          Waking up to these

                                          temps this morning.

Our view this am

Ice crystals on the inside windows. We are warm and toasty though!

The generator ran all night and so did our heater! Testament to a Honda generator! Pipes are frozen except for the kitchen, so it looks like we'll be quicker getting out of here than our normal time! LOL. Showers will have to wait :(

Since it's our last morning out, we're heading for our favorite restaurant in town for breakfast. That should hold us until we get home this afternoon.

Have a wonderful day! πŸ’—
