A mixed bag of weather |
We headed over for a nice outside fire, conversation and then inside for dinner. She loved the pizza! If John were home, I don't think he would have haha. WE called it a night and then headed home.
Sunday morning we woke up to snow! The day was filled with, snow, sun, rain, wind I swear it changed constantly over the day. We were nice and toasty inside, so I got set up to paint above the kitchen cabinets. Ken helped me with his left hand and he painted the far corners, no way I could reach even on a ladder. Oh wow! I am loving it! I've never been too daring a person with color, but am so happy with the way that little change looks. In my mind's eye I saw all white cabinets. Well, when i actually started them, they were just plain BORING! So, Ken painted one and added red trim, better so we decided on that. Then yesterday morning, I said, "it looks like it's waiting for something in the middle"...hmmm...so painted it red with white trim..Yep that's it. Ken talked to Eric and it's possible he and Mason may be coming this next weekend to put up my new ceiling fan, that I don't have yet! Again, before you know it the day was done!
Monday morning after another lousy night's sleep we got up and going and before 0800 we had our showers and breakfast and getting ready to start painting. Ken took down the curtains, got plywood to cover the countertops and all this stuff. I said, "What are you doing?" He replied, "I'm not going to let you do this all on your own, I'm going to be left handed so might as well start now" How sweet is that?! So we started, got our system going and at the end of the day there's only a couple cabinets on top that need their 2nd coat of white. At 1600 we cleaned up our mess and called it quits at 1645! Wow..I'm loving it! Not for everyone I know, but it fits us perfectly!

The table will sit in front of the wall.. |
Karen stopped by on her way home from babysitting grandkids and she really liked it. Decided to go with her suggestion of light gray walls as I was trying to incorporate a little gray in the scheme to match my table.
Moving right along.. |
The wall painted.. |
So this morning (Tuesday) we're off to Carson City to check out ceiling fans, drawer and cabinet pulls along with paint. Because this is at least a 150 mile trip don't see anything getting done on the cabinets, but tomorrow we'll start early.
Afternoon update...we got our drawer pulls, ceiling fan and some painting stuff. Found some samples of gray paint and will go to True Value when we narrow the color we want! Flooring a little more difficult..thinking that will take a bit of time. A successful day! We had lunch at Gold West Casino where we've never been before. Food was good, if not on the pricey side for us..we probably won't go back only because we've been spoiled at CVI and our Chinese place in Carson City. Windy night as its bedtime. Ken made a really nice fire tonight so should keep us toasty most of the night.
We saw this saying yesterday...and both of us said "That fits Adam" our grandson who's got the gypsy in him.. WE are Dos Enos...destined to wander and explore..yep! |

ReplyDeleteAs long as Ken doesn't overdo his helping out after his surgery he'll be Safe.
That's a wise saying for most of us.
Be Safe and Enjoy your new Kitchen.
It's about time.
Very true about the wise saying.. I know I'm feeling it from getting up and down several times yesterday, as the best way to paint was sitting on the floor.
DeleteReally love what you are doing with your kitchen. Cannot wait to see the grey added and what you decide for the floors.
ReplyDeleteWhen I went to write the blog last night blogger would not download the pictures. Interesting that you could not post.
