Good Morning from Washoe Lake State Park!! :)) |
Yesterday (Tuesday) we took our time getting ready to head for Washoe Lake State Park. Somewhere around 80 miles from home, and because it's been so cold we knew we wouldn't be spending time sitting outside.
We had our salad lunch at 1300 and then finished taking a few things out to the trailer and we both headed off. We've got two vehicles for this trip, as we'll drop the Tundra off for service on Thursday and this way we're not waiting around for it to be done. They usually are very quick with the service, but the one time we waited it was over 3 hours before it was done. So no more..
I stopped at Smith's in Dayton and picked up a few things and Ken came to the park and got our spot. We were able to get #1 which is our favorite spot. There's a few people camped here but not many.
If you have been a resident of NV for 5 years and are 65 for $30.00 a year you can buy a pass and stay FREE at any state park in NV. (If you use hookups u pay $10.00 a night).
Washoe does not have hookups at the sites so it's totally free. They do have restrooms and showers so that's a nice plus. It's a beautiful park surrounded totally by mountains and only about 5 miles from Carson City and 25 from Reno. It's a great place to stay when we have lots of errands and shopping to do.
Should be looking at mountains.. |
Our view out the dinette.. |
Site #1 |
Cool dreary afternoon..but we're warm and toasty in the trailer..:) |
It was sprinkling when I got here around 1500 so we used the generator and watched some tv and just enjoyed looking out the windows watching the rain.
Dinner was easy, as i had cooked the day before so heated in our propane oven and enjoyed! Called it a night about 2100.
I was awake a few times during the night and listened to the howling winds. Didn't feel the trailer move a bit, but the winds were something else. About 0530 Ken got up and started the coffee. (Thanks, Russell!) We're drinking some of the coffee we were gifted at Christmas from Russell and family called Black Rifle Coffee Company and it's delicious! We've been saving it to have in the trailer on our trips. Black Rifle is veteran owned, so that in itself makes it special.
Thanks Russell..and we've got more varieties..Now to get some Leadslingers Whiskey another veteran owned company! |
Our view as of now.. |
Now to get on with the day. We'll be headed to Reno and Sam's Club and a few other places to get stocked for our trip to AZ next week..and meeting up with our new Blogging Friends! Anybody who knows us knows we need the time to get there, as we like to go slow..hahah...
Have a great day!
From your pictures it looks like you are parked in a beautiful spot. What a nice perk, at the state parks, for being a Nevada resident of a certain age...:)
ReplyDeleteYes it is ..which is why I hang with the old guy..hahahah..just kidding. Got to say though in the last year we've stayed in some really nice and not so nice state parks in NV. Love checking them out.
DeleteNice that you can get ready to go and soon be in AZ and warmer weather. travel safe.
ReplyDeleteI know...we're both so excited..planning on leaving Monday if all goes as planned!
DeleteGood picture of your rig. We'll have to figure out your parking / pull thru options when you get here.
ReplyDeleteOur stock trailer is where you usually pull thru. Lots of space but if the pasture out front is soggy you'll want to stay on the gravel.
When we get there, we'll just be so happy to be there..put us anywhere..unless you've got other company we plan on staying inside with you guys :)))...
DeleteYou are the only visitors, plenty of room. Winter isn't a big visitors season here lol.
Deletethat looks like a great park, albeit cool right now. We are anxious to meet you when you get to Az. Take your time, this life isn't about rushing, is it? :)
ReplyDeleteGood morning from Arizona. That is a great price for the Nevada state parks. Gives you the desire to travel and visit the state.
