Yesterday (Monday) we got up and got the day going. Did our usual blogging and commenting, coffee and then off to showers etc. Ken ran to town to get gas and ice before hooking up the trailer. I stayed behind and got ready.

Our beautiful sunrise yesterday...:) |
When he got back we had a little of Ree's breakfast casserole to hold us over until lunch. We had made plans with Deb and Tom to head to Silly Al's for pizza before we all left the camping area.
Ken hooked up the trailer and we headed to the dump station to dump the tanks. Too many trailers in line, we turned around and then tried again later in the morning. There were 4 in line and as Ken made the u turn to get in line and another had snuck in. Two were dumping, so it made us #8 in line. The lines actually moved pretty quickly so we got that done, moved to fill with fresh water and waalaa..all accomplished. We headed back to camp to wait for Deb and Tom as he was dumping also. Got a text from Deb, confirming we were still doing lunch and so we moved to our old camping spot and met them nearer the gate. We all jumped into their Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and off we went.
Silly Al's was an ok experience this time where as Saturday was great when we were there. We know they screwed up Deb's drink order and Ken's beer definitely wasn't what the waitress said it was. But no convincing her (the waitress)..Pizza was good, conversation was awesome and it was around 1400 we left the joint. Back to the trailer, hugs all around and more hugs and we're out of there.

Tom and Deb..:) |
We only had 75 miles to go at the most and they had less so it was all good.
Beautiful drive we had from Quartzite to Parker to near Lake Havasu. We had seen a few boon docking sites on our way down so we were attempting to go to one of those. The first one turns out was an Arizona State Land Trust. Never heard of that but it said you had to have a permit, we didn't so we moved on. A couple of miles down the road was another site, no sign and some rvs. We drove back on the road and found a spot for the night.

Different all the way around..so beautiful |
Nice temps and we sat in the shade just enjoying relaxing. Great travel day! We were missing all of our Happy Hour friends, but this was nice too.

Another view as the sun's going down.. |

Just enjoying.. |
The stars last night were incredible so we sat outside until we knew we should go in and pull together a simple, and I do mean simple dinner. I made Ken a summer sausage and cheese grilled sandwich and he cooked a hot dog rolled in a flour tortilla. I had a grilled quarter cheese sandwich. Then time (way past time) for bed.

Good night from a site near Lake Havasu.. |
Set the alarm for 0500 and now we're getting ready to leave our spot and head to Big Bend of the Colorado State Park..76 miles..another great travel day!
I imagine we'll stay a couple of days and then head home.
** I know what you're thinking Don, if we have too many of those great travel days we'll never make it to Tennessee! ** haha..
These popped up on FB the other day...:))

Have a wonderful day!
Gotta love the short travel days, so glad we got to spend some time together and hopefully next year some more.
ReplyDeleteTravel safe and enjoy your new scenery along the way.
God willing we'll definitely be back next year! Love the scenery, every one is different and beautiful in it's own way.
DeleteIt was a pleasure meeting you guys and wished we could have spent more time together. Hopefully next winter.
ReplyDeleteSave Travels and looking forward to reading about your new adventures.
It's about time.
Definitely look forward to it Rick!
DeleteLooks like an excellent way to part company. Glad you had a good time even with the mix ups.
ReplyDeleteNice spot you have.
Safe travels.
We were happy to have found a spot that wasn't too crowded for the night. Going further north a bit there were even better spots, the roads didn't appear so bumpy and more level.
DeleteBeautiful sunrise pictures.
ReplyDeleteNever been to Lake Havasu but maybe this year as I head north. Looks like you two have a nice spot.
When I drank beer back in my youth, a beer was a beer was a beer. They all tasted the same. Good! Ken must be a connoisseur of beers and not a hard core beer drinker 😂. Nice!
Those FB memories are neat.
Thank you Doug! Ken drinks mostly light beer but allows himself two specialty beers a day. He's an IPA man then. When we go out he'll treat himself to IPA, that's why he knows what he got wasn't. Oh well..time spent w friends is always good!
DeleteWhat great pictures, I especially like the one you captioned, "different all the way around", beautiful. The pictures of you two and your son are great, he looks like one handsome Marine.
ReplyDeleteWe are missing our Happy Hour friends, also but I agree it is nice to sit our just the two of us.
Thank you for lunch, that was a great way to end our time in Quartzsite. (Even if she screwed up two drinks...lol) Travel safe and looking forward to our next encounter.
Thanks guys. It's hard to believe that those pics are over 21 years old. Time sure flies, guess that's why we have to enjoy every one we're given! Looking forward to seeing you two again.
DeleteWhat a great way to say goodbye, over lunch at Silly Al's with friends. You are now probably moving again a little further north. Might have to put the shorts away, Shirley, for a few days.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures of you and your son. You must be so proud. Travel safe my friends!
We're here at Laughlin, great weather but I know the closer to home away they go..darn..you two enjoy (as I see you are) that pool! :)
