A couple day catch up..and we may have a delayed leave!

Monday, We worked around the house and just enjoyed being home. It was really cold, don't think it got over 36 degrees here.
Just some cool clouds..

My biggest complaint in our little Jayco is that there isn't enough counter space.  I can put a big cutting board over the sink area and that definitely helps. Ken decided to make me a fold down counter extender.  He took some plywood and some flooring we had left and made a 15 x 21 inch extension. He attached it to the end of the cabinet as you walk in the door.  Not huge, but enough to make a difference!  It's up when you need it and down when you don't.  I'm a happy camper and he is too, even though there were a few cuss words used as he was figuring it all out.
Not much countertop..but I have a cutting board that goes
over the sinks..The extended countertop is folded down.

The extended countertop..needs a little painting on the edge
but it'll have to wait till we get back..

Ken was going to put the backing on the inside, but the drawers
wouldn't come out so it's on the outside..and will be painted or
stained after we get back..

About 1630 our neighbors, John and Karen texted saying they had a fire going and music if we wanted to come over.  At first I explained Ken was in the middle of this project, but he was finished a few minutes after so we gathered some drinks and headed over.  We thought we'd just stay a little bit, but as you all know the conversation flows and before we knew it, 1900.  We said our good nights and headed home.  Ken had some pork that we had marinating for about 4 days so he wanted to cook it up. I made some rice, gravy and asparagus and it made for a tasty dinner. We both ended up falling asleep on the couch and eventually made it to bed :)

Tuesday morning, we awoke to really cold temperatures.  It was 6 degrees when we woke up at 0500.   My cell phone has been giving me troubles for the last month or so, and this morning it was really bad.  We were heading for Gardnerville to Walmart, to stock up for our trip.  We ended up taking the long way, via Carson City and Verizon.  Long story short, phone now won't turn on, so they are overnighting a new one. Hoping the "cloud" was activated on my old phone or I will have lost everything.  So we'll see tomorrow.
Our fireplace keeping our little home warm:)

Then we headed to Walmart and left a sizeable donation there.  Raley's for prescription pick up and then because it was after 1300 and our yogurt and banana breakfast was long gone, we had to stop at Carson Valley Inn and see our favorite waitress, Carmen.  A wonderful lunch, and stuffed tummies we headed home.  I had a nice nap on the way home, thank goodness for my chauffeur!

Unloaded the groceries, Ken started a fire and now we're settled in for the night.  The weather people are calling for snow Wednesday night into Thursday, if that happens we'll wait to leave.  We don't need to drive in the snow so we won't. We'll be ready to go, but if not we'll go as soon as it's safe.

Wednesday...We got up about 0500 and visited with our friends.  Got ourselves going and Rylee from next door came to spend a couple of hours with us.  She's been out sick the last few days and her daddy, Joe was headed to Hawthorne to do a little mining. She's on the upswing so we enjoyed the visit.  Her Grammy, came and picked her up around 1300. We had a nice visit with Susan.
Miss Rylee playing video games..

Loaded the trailer with canned goods and some refrigerator items. Ken did his thing in getting it all ready to go.

My phone came this afternoon, but so far I don't have any contacts or pictures. We may go back to Carson City tomorrow to see if they can figure it out or not. They're expecting weather changes over night so a lot is up in the air right now. Oh well, we're not on a schedule.

Have a good night!

  1. Fingers crossed they can figure out the phone thing for you. Tom and I are hoping you do not have to wait long for a weather window so you can head south and find some warmer temperatures.
Really like the counter extension Ken made for you. It is amazing how even 15 inches helps. I love the Stinger "B" but I do miss the counter space I had in the 5th wheel.
    Safe travels.

  3. There is never enough counter space or so it seems. The extension looks great.

Waiting for good weather is always a good idea. Why take the chance? Better to arrive late than not all.

Hopefully those nice folks can rescue your information for the phone. It's amazing how dependent we are on technology now. It would be so easy to write those numbers down but we don't do that for some reason.

    Safe travels.

  4. Nice counter extension, many of the manufacturers do exactly what you have done to had counter space. Hope the weather holds so you can get away. Either way, drive safe and take care.

  6. Ken did a great job on the extender. We can always use more counter space and that seems like an easy fix!
I hope the weather makes a nice change for you but I know you will be wise in your judgment as to when to head out. Drive safe, there is no rush, just enjoy where you are. :)
