2 day posting...from Clarksville, Arkansas to Memphis TN!

Woke up yesterday morning at Spadra Lake in Clarksville, Arkansas..a warm wind was blowing and it was overcast.   So we took our showers with great plans to go to Walmart and get a printer cable for the new printer we bought.  Then we were going to spend the day seeing Clarksville and getting some pictures of the town, playground, grandma's house and many other memories.  By the time we're ready to go the wind was blowing, clouds were dark and south of us on Hwy 28 was a tornado watch.  So we decided let's hook up the trailer and go to Walmart, drive through town and then maybe come back on the way back after Don's before we head to Crater of Diamonds State Park and then on to TX to see friends.

By the time we headed into town it was raining buckets! The wind was blowing hard and you could hardly see out the windshield!  So a few rainy pictures and then we tried to outrun the storm!  We drove and drove in the rain and wind.  Thought about stopping at a few state parks but didn't so in the end we ended up at a dive campground about 24 miles west of Memphis.  It was part of a motel called "The Relax Inn"...used to be a KOA years ago..No way could u "relax" as the motel was pretty much a dive.  There are about 3 or more gas stations that are frequented all hours of the day and night by big rigs...but oh well, only place there was.  We had stopped in North Little Rock to go to a KOA..but we drove right by...locals and scum...too bad for that KOA...funny thing is some other people who ended up at the same "Shell Lake Campground" where we stayed had driven by the Little Rock KOA also, and drove on...

If you're going to advertise a full service campground..shouldn't the bathrooms work?  Shouldn't the picnic tables be sittable?  Don't u think you would get rid of the broken down tables?  REALLY???   The only nice thing about this campground was that there was a river that ran by it...This morning to take a shower we went over to the motel and she gave us a key to a motel room and we got our showers...but they sure don't know how to clean.

The weather service was calling for wind and rain in the middle of the night and boy did it...nice lightning show about 0200..weather cooler today but very nice..of course we only had a 24 mile ride to the KOA Memphis.  It's really nice, sits 7 miles up I55 and surrounded by farms.  Not in the middle of Memphis..no where near actually!

So we had to run into Mississippi today..to find office max so we could print and fax some papers to our realtor.  Nice ride about 25 miles..except there was sooooo much traffic and road work, so probably took us an hour...lots of that just sitting waiting to move.  oh well...got the job done and we went out to Texas Roadhouse for a nice lunch.  #3 of the trip, so not so bad.

Tomorrow we should pull into Don's place for a few days. This is day 16 of the trip!  Love the way we travel now...we'll have to head home in a few weeks as it's watering time..but we'll enjoy it til we do.

Note to Don...can't believe the people who love your car.  Yesterday, a guy came by cause he saw the car from the top of the overcrossing..Wanna sell it? Don't think he'd have the $$$ but he sure loved it!  A vietnam war vet who was traveling in his trailer with his wife...told us the story of how his best friend had a car like that and the good times he had in it..before going to Viet Nam and getting killed 6 weeks before he was due home....soo sad...but people are so nice!! Right now as I'm writing the blog at the KOA a gentleman knocked on the window and Ken is outside talking to him about "that sweet old car"...
