Another early start..Military vehicles and Ken's update..

I was awake this morning at 0330.  Alarm was set for 0400 so I decided to get out of bed a few minutes after 0330, figuring I wouldn't go back to sleep again. Made myself a cup of tea so Ken wouldn't smell coffee brewing that he couldn't have this morning. A letter to Seth was written as well. :))
My new cover picture on Facebook ;)

At 0430 I woke him up and we got the day started.  He had an appointment for an Echocardiogram at 0810 in Carson City.  He also had lab work to get done and it called for fasting so no food for us.  If he doesn't eat I wait and vice versa when I have lab work done.

We headed out just a few minutes after 0600.  Beautiful morning for a drive at 44 degrees.  We were early once again. :) Ken's brother Don called just as we drove up so they talked for a bit before we went inside.  They checked him in at 0815 and a few minutes later they called him in. About 1/2 later or so he's done. We drove to the main hospital and he had his lab work done pretty quickly.  We've gotten to be old hands at this since we've been there so many times lately.
Just because I love seeing the flag fly!

And because the rainbow is beautiful!

Waiting for Seth's address and adding to them daily! ;)

Of course we were both starving by 0930 so we headed for Betsy's Big Kitchen. Their coffee was to die for and only $1.00 and refills included.  We both had a great breakfast.  I ordered a green chile omelet and gave Ken most of the hash browns and toast. Omelette was delicious and huge.  Some came home.  Ken had the chicken fried steak (they cut their own, not pre packaged) eggs, and biscuit and gravy. If you know me, that killed me not to eat their gravy!  I did take a bite and know that it was delicious. Maybe one day :)

While we were sitting there we could see out the window and saw the convoy of old Military Vehicles going across America.  They are following the same route that was done in 1919 ending in San Francisco after a ferry ride from Oakland. After breakfast we drove past the capitol looking for them. They were at the Railroad Museum. The place was packed and couldn't even find a place to park.  So we'll see what comes from the pictures I took rolling through the parking lot.
Some vehicles in the convoy across America :)

The Elks Lodge fed lunch to the convoy people :)

We headed towards Minden and Big 5!  Kayak loaded in the back of the truck. Time to head for home.
I'll get a better pic..my new kayak
Next on the bucket list...
I want a fly fishing lesson!!

Here's what's up with Ken.  Yesterday we saw the cardiologist who said he doesn't think whatever's wrong with Ken is heart related but let's do some things just to confirm.  They did find from other tests that he does have a 4.6 cm aneurysm in his aorta. Doctor is not concerned with that as until it grows to 5.5 they don't do anything about it.   He's on Atenenol that is protecting the heart and blood pressure. So he'll monitor that. He said that was a "bonus" find, because that's not what they were looking for.

On the 17th he has a PET Scan and then at 1515 we see the pulmonary doctor to see what the findings are then.  As of now we know there's still fluid and it's still building up. He feels good though, and no shortness of breath at this point.

The 18th he has a stress test.  The 24th he's scheduled for a consultation with the surgeon who'll be looking with the camera. I would guess a surgery date will follow the consultation.  October 9th he will see the cardiologist to discuss the findings of the echo and stress tests.  I'm sure somewhere in there he'll see the Pulmonary doctor again. So there you have it! Thanks for caring everyone. :)

On to Happy Hour!  Have a great evening!

    1. Thanks Bill! No he's never had one before. We believe it's the one where they insert the dye, but not sure.

  3. It sounds busy but all necessary. Thinking of Ken as he deals with all this medical stuff. We just hope, as you both do, that they find the thing bothering him and get it fixed! You're right, you have a lot of travelling to do!! :)
Loved the pile of letters for Seth. It is exciting both ways getting letters.
