Phoenix to Tucson AZ..Happy 19th Anniversary Bryan and Cheryl..

We left the street parking about 0845 this morning!  Ken commented as we're going through Phoenix how bad the traffic was on Sunday morning at 0900! Sandy told us yesterday that the best day for travel through Phoenix was Sunday! Wow!
Phoenix...

Traffic in Phoenix

Looking at Phoenix..

It was a pretty drive though..we got off on Highway 60 at Apache Junction, made a point to wave at Doug, Deb and Riley over by the Superstition Mountains.  They are beautiful! Traffic was heavy because of the Scottish Games but we meandered on.

The mountains are gorgeous!

More Phoenix traffic

We stopped here to get water..

It was huge!

Love this!

Coming into Tucson..

The drive was beautiful! Saguaros were beautiful and plentiful! Such a pretty drive to Tucson.  It's a town that is so long, stoplights from many miles out. Stores and apartments and then as you get closer homes that must cost a fortune!

Got to town and we stopped at Camping World, too crowded to park, we're not staying there obviously. I called some PA parks and the one that said it took PA in March has changed to April or $43.00 a night..not in my budget!  I called one that said $17.00 a night and he had a space, we started driving out there and i said "We need a casino parking lot"..sure enough as we're turning on the road to head to the little rv place..there's a casino..Desert Diamond Casino..whoa..We pulled in and found our spot.  I did call the RV place and tell him we'd decided to move on..a little lie..but didn't want to hurt his feelings.

Apartments...oh no..

Our spot at Desert Diamond Casino..

Can't believe the people who come to gamble!

Love our little place!

We got settled and headed back to Camping World where now we have an appointment for Wednesday at 0900. Once that's done we'll move on.

After that we headed to Fry's Grocery because we really like the one in Yuma..not so much here.   We got it done..headed back home, looked at a few things and decided what we want to do tomorrow.

We walked over to the Casino just to check out restaurants (we don't gamble) but they don't have anything we're interested in. Lots of people in there spending their money, but not us. You would think they'd have a 24 hour cafe, but they don't. We walked back to our little house. We're happy with our little place.

Today our oldest son, Bryan and his wife, Cheryl celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary..love you guys!
This was six years ago at our place in Winnemucca..:)

Good morning! Monday am..Looks like we'll get some laundry done and then head over to Sagauro National Park (west) and check things out.

Have a wonderful day!

  1. We stayed at a couple of Casinos around Tucson and enjoyed it, we always go to the players club and sign up, usually get free stuff when you sign up, sometimes we have had free meals, shorts, show tickets etc....usually some free slot play, w take that and pay the pen slots for a bit and lately maybe win 20 or 30 dollars, on nothing does not cost us anything for the fun.
    Good luck with your truck.

  2. We were going to sign up for the players club, but it just didn't interest us enough to do it. We don't gamble (we would on their money) but it just didn't hit us to do it yesterday and we figured we probably wouldn't be back. If there was a restaurant we would eat at, we probably would. We are enjoying being here in the parking lot though! thanks we're hoping it fixes the issues.

  3. You are not to far from the San Xavier Mission, its free and quite interesting, or the Titan Missile silo. Enjoy your time there.

  4. We are planning, key word being planning, on stopping for a couple of days in Tucson on our way through in a few weeks. We will be doing some Casino parking...:) Really want to re-visit the Saguaro National parks and the Mission both of which are beautiful. Enjoy your time.

  5. Glad to hear you have an appointment set up, it gives you a couple of relaxing days if you wish. The places above are good things to visit so i won't mention any. Just enjoy your time there! Too bad there isn't a restaurant in the Casino, that just seems silly. Even gamblers have to eat!

    1. They do have restaurants but one doesn't open till 4 pm and pricey, a buffet which we skip, because we can't control ourselves and eat way too much and a fast food area..not our choice either. So it'll work for some people just not us picky people..haha..

  6. We waved back, did you see us? I have to say the pictures didn't show any traffic at all. I've heard a number of folks say the traffic is bad there, truly I didn't see that when we came through, a bit busier than Quartzsite but not New York/LA either.

Enjoy your time there, good luck with the truck.

    1. I guess it seems busy to us because we live in a small town in NV. Hardly ever any traffic. Just like here in Tucson lot's of traffic to us. Hubby's talking my ear off about buying a new truck now..his brother found an "awesome" deal in TN so we'll see when we get there..

  7. Glad you found a casino. I've stayed at the Casino Del Sol a number of times. Little out of the way if you're heading east.

Glad you finally found a place to get your problem looked at and hopefully fixed.

Lots of stuff going on in Phoenix this weekend so roads are crowded. Glad you got to see Superstition Mountain at least. Did see you wave as you flew past. I was way on top of a boulder overlooking the city.

    1. Apparently a lot of people find the Casino Del Sol. WE drove through yesterday and oh so many people! I like this one cause there's not too many. Saw you on that boulder! :)

  8. Nice to be having an easy drive. The issue with the truck might take going to a dealer so they can reprogram the computer. Glad the tire didn't blow and do damage to the trailer.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  9. Yes we're glad too that the tire didn't blow.. We'll see what happens with the sway bar (whatever it's called)..if you read Toyota manual the truck is supposed to do what it does when it detects sway..just a bad plan in our opinion..lots of Tundra owners complain about the same problem (checking a forum)..just too bad.
