Had a great flight (well 2) across America and then caught the shuttle from LaGuardia to our rental car place (Dollar Rental)..had our reservations in hand and....no rental cars! We were number 16 and 17 on the list and people had been waiting since 1300 to pick up cars...REALLY?! The Belmont race was in town along with some other events and they were waiting for people to return their cars...ok..regroup..called the motel (Comfort INN) and they sent their shuttle to pick us up..great guy!!
We've decided to take the subway into town..and on Tuesday come back and get the car to head for DC...probably a better idea anyway and it saves us lots of $$...The hotel is wonderful! Russell's room has a great view of the NYC skyline!
We got to the motel and took a 4 block walk or so up hill to a place called Neill's ...hopping place as the hockey game was on..walked in and saw white linen's and white cloth napkins...ok..not to bad prices really and very delicious food!!
Walked back to the motel and then took another little walk to the gas station where we bought a little beer for the evening...Brooklyn Lager was the best they had but according to Russell and Jesse..not the greatest..so they'll keep on trying.
I got to bed a little after 1300 and after a bit had a great (if not short) night's sleep! Up this am, we'll meet downstairs for breakfast and then head on out to the subway..for a fun filled day in downtown NYC!
