Heaven just got another angel...Victor N Phillips..

Yesterday we headed over to Ken's doctors office near Wellington.  He needed prescriptions and since he no longer has the Dr in Winnemucca we weren't sure how to do it.  Got it figured out and went by Raleys in Gardnerville to give them his new prescription card.  Got a call not much later that the prescription was ready.  We did our shopping at Walmart and a couple of other stops.
The view of the mountains from the Walmart parking lot in Gardnerville...

Ken thought about heading over to Carson City and our favorite Chinese place but it was already 1300 hours so Carson Valley Inn one more time.

Then we headed home and just enjoyed the nice warm house.

This morning before we left got news that my daddy's youngest brother had passed away during the night in his sleep.  He was the baby of the family at 87. Uncle Vic, was the family historian, accomplished writer and a preacher.  He lived in Bristol, VA for many years.  He never married, but seemed to have a very full life.

Victor N Phillips...aka Bud..but we never called him that...

Uncle Vic and my cousin Melody just a few months ago..he
looked a lot like my grandpa..

I hadn't seen him since 1970 in Arkansas.  Mom and daddy saw him in 1985 at his home in Bristol.

My favorite memory is going to his house in Harrison, Arkansas.  He had tons of chiming clocks, from mantel clocks to grandfather clocks. Not sure what became of them all.  We visited and then ran to the store with him. He picked up bologna, mayo, tomatoes and Roman Meal bread.  The best sandwiches ever! A few years ago I mentioned that memory to him and he said he still ate Roman Meal bread...:)

Uncle Lewis, Aunt Ola and Aunt Ollie are all that's left of the 7 brothers and sisters..

Today, Ken's been working on getting the trailer ready for our trip to AZ. We need to go to Reno for a compressor he wants to get and two batteries for the Jayco.  So after that we can leave.

Eric called last night and he's decided not to go south to King of Hammers so he doesn't need to borrow the cabover now.

Here's a couple of pictures of the table he's making, they decided to go with a grey stain, thinking it looks pretty good don't you?  The top is going to involve some burning, can't wait to see that!

On the front of Grandma and Grandpa's house in Clarksville, Arkansas
probably 1964 or 1965..they really were the good times even though
none of us are smiling..haha

Don, thought you would enjoy these pics.  Today at Donner Summit! Not sure what he's trying to do, but that's a lot of snow!

Raider at his first vet appointment yesterday
He did well and they figure he is part Shepard
and part Australian Sheep dog..

Those who know me know that I am a big fan of Ree Drummond and her Pioneer Woman cooking show.  Along with her cooking, we get to be a part of the family and what's happening in their life on the Oklahoma prairie.  Such a nice family. Somehow got me hooked..Anyway, Ree wrote a post yesterday about the fact that Sunday they had to put their dog, Charlie to sleep..very moving and straight from the heart. Had me in tears.  I wanted to share it here, but I guess i'm not that smart.  But if you want to read it, just Google Ree Drummond, Confessions of a Pioneer Woman..that's her blog..

Goodbye Charlie...:(
