A beautiful Sunday, brunch at home, baking and lunch at a great restaurant in town.

Karen brought me this back from her trip to CA...😃

Wednesday was a baking and cooking day.  Started with some cabbage lasagna and enchiladas.  Once they were done I packaged them into separate containers so all Ken has to do is pull one out and he'll have a dinner sized portion to eat.  Before I go i'll make some coleslaw for him to have with the enchiladas.  I'll probably make one other meal just so he has more of a variety :)

Cabbage, mushroom and onion stir fry..yummy!

Enchiladas for the freezer

Cabbage lasagna for the freezer

Some servings for Ken next week...
Butterscotch no flour cookies for Ken..

I mixed up some batter for a morning glory cake (again because I haven't ordered muffin pans).  I'm finding I just adjust the cooking time and it comes out just fine. Cut it in half and put half in the freezer and it tastes freshly baked.

That really was my day until about 1600 when it was all cleaned up.

John went to Costco and found us a bigger propane fireplace. Karen had a 2nd one so gave us a new one just like it. If they're not lying about the price it's a great deal! This one is awesome, so we enjoyed a nice fire!

We had some beautiful skies

Thursday we took hamburgers, turkey burgers and potato salad over to Karen's and enjoyed a nice fire.  Friday we were home all day getting things done.  Ken got wheel bearings packed and moved some of the vehicles and Mansion around. The days just fly by!

Saturday we headed to Gardnerville to pick up a prescription for Ken.  We were able to bypass Walmart this trip. YAY! We stopped by a building supply place but they were closed. Only open during the week so we'll try again later.

After that we headed home.  120 miles to pick up a prescription. The joys of country living. We could have them mailed, but with us not knowing when we'll be home or not that's not our choice.  We could get them at Raley's in town, but we don't care for their pharmacy. So we'll continue to support big oil for now. 😱😊

On our way home we were deciding what to do about lunch.  We thought we'd try and support one of our restaurants in town that we don't normally go to. We ended up at El Superior Mexican Restaurant. We had been there not too long after we moved here 8 years ago.  Never went back as the service was so slow and we had been the only ones in there.  I read the most recent reviews so we decided to give them another try.

I fell in love with this wine glass...

Some beautiful murals inside

A gorgeous fountain

The back of the glass...

A little Cantina in the back.

A lovely restaurant and the owners along with the servers
are so nice!

We weren't disappointed.  They had the required "Face masks required" sign on the door. We walked in mask less and we were greeted by the owner, mask less herself. What a nice smile!  We were seated and brought chips and some of the best homemade salsa we've ever had. Turns out they sell 16oz of it for $3.00 so we added that to our bill.

Lunch did not disappoint and neither did the service! So glad we gave it another try. Forgot to take pictures!

We headed over to Tru Value as Ken needed a part for the Komfort so that the water will be usable for Memorial Day weekend as we're expecting company! If all goes as planned my sister Linda, Bobby,  and family (Dusty, Chelsea, Owen and Cassidy) will be here along with nephew Jesse and friends Kim and Lance.

We walked in there mask less too. Nice to see some more smiles. Went out to the garden area and ended up with a 6 pack of marigolds, a hanging plant for the planter Russell gave me a few years ago and some chive seeds.  Ken looked at couple of trees to replace a few that have died.  We decided to take note of them and look at Lowe's. Lowe's has a one year guarantee, Tru Value doesn't.  At the prices we need the guarantee. A major investment LOL.

Early evening we headed over to Karen's for Happy Hour and to help her bring in a couple of treasures she picked up from Carson City today.  A very nice evening around her propane fire pit.

She gave me some bananas before we left so i'll be baking again today (Sunday).  Waking to a beautiful but cool morning 31 degrees but headed for 73 so it'll be a wonderful afternoon.

This morning Ken woke up wanting an oyster sandwich for a late breakfast/brunch. Well we all know coffee doesn't go with oyster sandwiches right?! So a Bloody Mary for him and a screwdriver (kind of) for me.  I took vodka, a little of light oj (regular oj is just too many carbs) and seltzer water.  Yummy!

Oysters and cheese on the left and there's oysters under the cheese on the other slice..

Ken's Bloody Mary in our favorite glass..That's oysters you see floating LOL...

Ken's oyster sandwich with lettuce and tomato added..Japanese Mayo too..Thanks Dee and Katie!!

My more traditional ham and cheese on almond flour bread..yummy!

So now we're ending this beautiful Sunday. Ken went over to spray more weeds at Karen's and then when he needed me I went over to help him. Got 2 loaves of banana bread done and some more cookies. I'll be sharing with Karen since she supplied the bananas. Hope she likes them!

Aaron...thought I'd get to see a football game next week, but the season
ended last Friday. I'll get to see him play basketball instead!

Great niece Cassidy after she got caught coloring Grandma's chair...Could you get upset with that face?!

Owen found grandma's stash of Coke and sharing with his sister 💙

Hope your Sunday was as good as ours!

Run around day, working on a cabover, Grandkids are coming!

Thursday morning we left early and headed to Carson City to drop off the Tundra for its 75,000 mile service. The last one on the warranty program that is fully covered. I met Ken there and we took off for Reno and Total Wine. Surprised me as i didn't know that's where we were going, so I got on my phone and made the order.

We headed to Sierra Trading Post Outlet. Ken was actually looking for some new shoes as his tennis shoes are pretty worn (out).  He didn't find anything but I found a cute top and a dress. I haven't bought a dress since we retired nine years ago! This is a cute seersucker, and takes me back to 7th grade!

After that Total Wine to pick up the order and then to Carson City to hit Walmart and our Chinese lunch.  Then to Toyota to pick up the Tundra.  We have a new battery with a charge of course, but guess it was needed.  They had said it was almost time, last servicing.
The start of our beautiful sunset...

And there it is!

No filters..just our beautiful skies!

We headed next door for a short Happy Hour with Karen and Amber.  While there we looked inside this old cab over camper that the original owners had left. It's been in the yard hoping to be used as a guest room for years.  I know Karen has no time to get it cleaned before her company arrives in a few days.  I volunteered to do it for her on Saturday.  Mainly just
8 years + of sand and birds that have visited inside (yuk).  There was a small hole on the side that let the birds in.

Friday morning, was a deep clean day for me.  Living in the sand and wind this place gets dusty easily and sometimes it just gets to me.  Also, the little green room got changed around. It's about the only room in the house that can be changed so I do it a few times a year when it hits me LOL..

Where the time goes, I don't know as I still didn't get it all done.  That's what tomorrow's for right?!
We had a windy afternoon, tried sitting outside and it was just too much. In we came and after a bit heard a loud noise on the front porch! Looked out and the wind had blown our loveseat over the edge of the porch taking our marigold plant with it! A perfect storm!
Our porch loveseat went flying...

The damage..

In between the ice chest and porch swing is where it flew from

You can kind of see the wind in the trees..

John made a surprise early visit home, so we went over to welcome him home and ended up back at home at 2230! Oh well.

Saturday morning I was up by 0500 and then woke the hubby.  He was going with me next door to help with the cleaning and fix the hole in the cab over.  Boy am I glad he did.  I can't believe how long it took and how hard we worked.  So glad we did it for them and of course they are very appreciative.
I started sweeping before I took the pic
but there's lots of sand everywhere!

Bed is made and ready for company

Kitchen won't be used but it's nice and
clean..you couldn't see what pattern the
countertop was when we started!

About 1700 went home to take a much needed shower (again) and then I started on the broccoli pizza.  We've been wanting to make it since I saw George's cauliflower pizza the other day!   Ken came home after having a beer with John and had a shower himself.  I didn't know it but Karen's daughter Lynzee and family had gotten here so he got them settled in our bunkhouse and fifth wheel.  As it turns out the little cabover at Karen's was also already going to be used for the next week! Good timing to get it done!
Mine, was so delicious

Oyster, mushroom and olive..Ken's

Once Ken was out of the shower we proceeded to get the pizza toppings on and then we headed back over to Karen's to chit chat with everyone for a bit.  Not a late night as we wanted to enjoy the pizza and we did!
Our beautiful sunset as we
got home

I woke up about 0300 and took a long time to get back to sleep.  Of course that meant a 0630 awakening! Now, because it's Sunday I'm taking my time getting going! Looks like a warm 92 degrees today!

Got a text from Grandson, Mason and looks like they will be coming over on Monday! YAY! A happy grandma and papa! Sounds like there will be 3, Seth, Mason and our other grandson, Aaron.  Guess I better hit the grocery store tomorrow before they get here!  :)

Finally got the day going and decided to make a few treats.  I baked a cake to take next door since they have a lot of kids there.  For the first time I made some low carb blackberry muffins with almond flour.  We'll see in the am how they are, but they sure smell good!  Then for the hubby I made his applesauce oatmeal muffins. We should be set for a bit. :)  Decided to have ground turkey tacos for dinner, so got all that done.  At about 1530 Ken came inside and as he said "I'm done" I was ready to say those exact words!
I only made half a batch of blackberry muffins..just in case
I don't  like them..

Ken's applesauce oatmeal muffins..with chunks of apple
and raisins. No sugar or artificial sweeteners added!

He said it's hard running an RV Park haha.  He had to change out a light in the outhouse, find a fan for the fifth wheel, new propane bottle for it, hooked up to water so they can take showers if they want and other things.  They should be set for a bit! He took the cabover next door so when Isabel and her family get here they can stay in that.  Looks like the boys will be in the house this visit!

Happy Hour with the hubby time! Have a good night everyone!

Trip Home, Cleaning, baking and Money Pit ready to head to CA.

Thursday morning we slept in till about 0700 or so! We were at the Tonopah Rest Area so we knew we only had about a 2 1/2 hour drive or so to home. Had our showers and breakfast and pulled out about 1000.

A beautiful drive all the way, not too much traffic going our way which was nice. A lot of people heading south!

We pulled into the driveway a little before 1230.  I spent the rest of the day cleaning the trailer and unloading stuff. Ken did his thing with the truck and trailer too. Once I was done with the water in the trailer, he pulled it over to the dump here and then winterized it.  Even though it's only sitting for a week or two, with these temps here, it's got to be done.  16 degrees here this am.

About 1600 our neighbors called and said they had started a fire, so we headed over for Happy Hour or two.  We called it quits pretty early, came home and pulled out leftovers for dinner.  Watched some Lonesome Dove and called it a night.

Friday was spent taking down Christmas decorations and cleaning house. Loads of laundry were done too! Ken took down the lights on the bunkhouse and outhouse and kept himself busy. Karen had mentioned that she wanted a HUGE fire on Friday night so Ken went over there to split some firewood for them since we were going to be enjoying the fire too. John is able to get telephone poles from his work, so it was cut to length, so Ken just had to split it.

Close to 1700 we headed over for a few hours. Very nice way to spend the evening. Home for a late dinner and then bedtime.

Saturday morning, we got up near 0600 and checked in with our blogging friends.  All good there! Watching Pioneer Woman now and her healthyish cooking this am.

Time to get the day going! Today's plan to take down the bunkhouse decorations inside and get clean sheets on the trailer bed. Before you know it, the day is done!!

Have a wonderful day!

UPDATE Later in the day...

Well, I wanted to get this posted this am..didn't happen! Ken got the Money Pit loaded on our trailer so we can take it to CA next weekend (as long as weather cooperates)..OUr friend K.C. is buying it.  Bittersweet, but again it is named Money Pit for a reason. He knows the issues and still wants it.

The Money Pit is loaded and ready to go to CA

I did some baking after getting the trailer bed made and the stuff traded out in the bunkhouse. All back to normal for 11 months or so. I made some soup/stew for the next few days. We're not really soup people, but because it's so cold salad just doesn't seem to cut it. Banana bread made for Ken's coffee in the am too.
Ken's soup..fresh veggies, potatoes, low sodium white beans
(I didn't take time to make fresh)..potatoes and andouille sausage.
Mine had the fresh veggies and a little sausage..I'm not eating
beans or potatoes right now.

Skinny banana bread for Ken
I was trying to decide what to have for dinner and then it hit me..haven't had George's tuna melts in a long while.  So made up two..Ken was having leftovers from camping and this along with a small salad hit the spot! Jalapeños, under the cheese. YUM! One left over for tomorrow night.
Tuna melt with hot sauce..YUM

Have a great evening everyone.  We've got 0815 breakfast plans with our neighbors, Joe Stacey, Rylee and Stacey's mom Susan..so better call it a night at almost 2300!!

We Voted! Getting things done, baking day and Ken's in the Halloween mood!

Tuesday morning we got ourselves up and going.  It was another of those nights of not sleeping well.  Have no idea why that is!  Ken decided he wanted his almond waffle and two fried eggs for breakfast and I had already decided to have the greek yogurt waffles (Thanks for that idea Patsy!).  Oh my they were good!!
This was actually from today..but looked the same yesterday.

After the dishes I got ready and we decided that we were going to town to vote! Gotta love small towns we walked right in and no line at all.  We were out of there in under 10 minutes. We've been seeing the news and cities like Carson City and Reno have lines as long as an hour or more! No way!

A couple of pics from Monday evening..
The sun was going down out back..

The moon was coming up out front at the same time..

Ken started a fire yesterday morning..it was so nice I had to come
out to the living room to enjoy it!

Got ourselves home after stopping t the bank and we were home the rest of the day.  Ken did his thing with getting the RVs ready for company and I put the new sheets and some blankets on some of the beds out there.  Looks nice and we can put up several people if need be for Karen and John's party Saturday.

Veggie tacos for dinner for the both of us. We headed for bed and the tv back there.  As soon as I'm in bed I'm asleep, too bad I don't stay that way! UGH!

I awoke around 0300 again this am.  Turns out Ken had a restless night himself. About 0445 Ken said he'd like to sleep until 0530, I said so would I and I did fall back to sleep. Up at 0540. Coffee, muffins and seeing what our friends were up to, then it was time to get ourselves up and going.

Another day at home without leaving, we like it when that happens! Ken got the cabover moved and the Jayco will move tomorrow. I spent a lot of the day in the kitchen making our little treats we like in the mornings.  Took out a leftover chicken dish I had made a few weeks ago for Ken for dinner so that's easy for tonight.
I had bananas to get rid of, so flourless chocolate chip cookies
a new recipe top right..probably not again though haha..and Ken's
apple oatmeal muffins

It was a nice day, good temps (low 70's) and some overcast skies.  Quiet day.
Ken worked a bit on a Halloween surprise (scary) for our little neighbor Rylee..
I was in the kitchen and thought i heard knocking on the door hmmm..no one there.  Heard it again and it was on the back door, I didn't think it was locked but maybe..opened the door and this was what greeted me!!
AHHHHHH!!!!

Now he's out in the tree waiting for Rylee to walk the path
from our house to hers!

Well, guess we're going to head out back for a fire in about half hour or so.  Everyone have a great evening!
