A very moving memorial at the gates of Camp Pendleton 💔 |

Bryan and Mason..while Eric and Christina were gone Mason went to have dinner with Bryan and Cheryl 💗 |
Saturday morning we got ourselves going so we could meet Randi and Joel along with others at Buckboard Station in Smith Valley. Nellie was on the road again! VORRA was in town for a race and they staged out of Walker River Resorts just down the road.

Cute little house at the beginning of the ride |
We got there just before 1000 and Joel and Randi had just arrived. VORRA picked up all of our camping fees for the night. Pays to know people, thanks Joel. We got ourselves parked, unloaded the CANAM and then we just had to wait for a couple of others that were joining us on the ride.
We left around noon for the about 38 mile ride to Mt. Patterson. What a beautiful ride and great day.

Here we go! |

|
Nellie and the Can Am...gosh I love that thing!!! |
Once we got back to camp we just hung out. Aaron barbecued some burgers, Ken some hot links and many snacks were shared. A great evening with friends and new friends! 😊
|
A lot of people to watch the VORRA race! |
|
Ken and Kim..a newer Journey..your upgrade maybe?! LOL! |
Sunday morning everyone took their time getting ready. Some were going home and some were staying. We were torn, but decided to head back home as we had some things to get done. We didn't leave until close to noon but it's only about 40 minutes from our house.
Once we got home Ken saw he had a message from Joel. I left my camera in the doorway of their trailer. Uhoh..So back we went...
On the way back we stopped at Walker River Recreation Area to see how crowded the campgrounds were. They had two spots left in the full hook up area and several in the dry camping. Dry camping they had mowed down all the weeds so it looked much nicer.
We found a place to pull over by the river (which looked way too snaky to me) put out our chairs and had a glass of wine and a beer. A nice ranger stopped by so we had a nice conversation with him. We then headed home.
Tuesday morning we both got out and got the front of the house finished painting. Pretty easy doing. Now the whole house is done except where they add on is and that's Ken's job. Doesn't get much sun except up near the roof.
The afternoons are hot so we're usually inside probably watching too many movies LOL.
Wednesday was a baking day for me. Ken dumped Nellie and put her away until the next time.
Today we headed for Carson City and Ken's podiatrist appointment. All good there. WE headed to Reno for a Total Wine pick up. As long as we're in Carson might as well head for Reno 20 miles further. Then it was Walmart time once again. Homeward bound and since it was after 1300 we stopped at El Superior in Yerington. Delicious dinner with some of my leftovers.
Groceries put away and now we've settled down to get this posted. Just had a huge windstorm and as we speak the power is out, estimated time of restoration 2030..so Ken's gone to get the generator.
Because it's September, and our anniversary next week we're heading out for 10 days or so. We are heading for somewhere not sure where now. We planned on Bear Lake like last year but the weather will be cool and the water temps are cold. Not good for kayaking. So we will see where we end up.
Eric and Christina took things down to Seth and Holly at Camp Pendleton this last weekend. They are in their new townhouse there. Holly has been fighting fires and finally has a little time off to spend with her new husband. She posted some pictures on FB so I've stolen a few (again for memories one day). It's adorable. I remember when Ken and I got married almost 49 years ago, we decorated with thrift stores and hand me downs. 😊 Looks like they're starting out better than we did 💕😊

2 story condo...Love those lights in the bedroom! |
Last, but not least Adam has had two television spots regarding the CALDOR fire. Not able to get clear video, but it is exciting for these grandparents to see! 💖💖 So happy to see our grandsons futures coming true for them! Have a great evening! Happy Hour time with the generator running! 💙😁
That looked like a fun day. You two are really high! Love that picture of you both and have saved it in my Friends folder. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right about when I first got married in '75. I had cardboard boxes covered with towels as end tables and everything else was second hand. But it was ours. 💗
Awww thanks Patsy! I know what you mean, it was ours and it was exciting then!
DeleteLooks like a fun day...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the upgrade idea 😀 ...at this point we would be happy to just get to use the one we have a bit more!
Kim
I'm sure that's very true Kim! WE're getting ready to go for a bit, but not as exciting as it once was due to covid and stupid restrictions!
DeleteWow, some of those roads look a wee bit treacherous. Looks like fun though camping with friends! We need to get out there and hang with you two again! Doug and Michelle
ReplyDeleteIt was a great time and everyone is so much fun! Yep we're ready anytime you are!
DeleteThat looks like so much fun!!! It's so cool you have nice places to camp and ride. I admit, some of those hills look a little steep!!
ReplyDeleteSome were steep but not scary surprisingly enough! It is nice to have them so close!
