Our awesome spot ....Spadra, Clarksville, AR |
When we were there in 1985 with mom and daddy and our kids...we had to camp at Lake Dardenelle...which was almost to Russellville, where Spadra is only 2 1/2 miles from Clarksville.
Driving through Russellville, Arkansas I was telling Ken the story of our first banana split...don't know if my sisters remember this or not...but we used to go to The Diamond, or Dairy King (which doesn't exist anymore)..in Clarksville, and we would get ice cream sundaes, or cones..but the other stuff was too expensive..so one day we went to Russellville, and Dairy Queen had banana splits on sale, (don't remember the price, because I was probably 9 or 10)..but it was cheap enough that we got to have one! Our first banana split was in Russellville, Arkansas! Daddy used to take us alot for ice cream..always been one of our addictions!
We spent the afternoon in Clarksville and stopped at a store called Atwoods..farm and ranch supply...Ken was looking for a pair of boots and he found a pair, but so did I! They are the cutest things..(mine not his)...
Went back to camp, had a nice fire and then Ken bar b qued hot links for him and I had 60 calorie hot dogs...yummy! Sauerkraut was awesome!
Ken's awesome dinner.... |

Got up this am and went to breakfast at Southpark..a restaurant that Bryan and family went to when we were here in 2008...OMG it was so awesome! I had the cheese and mushroom omelet, grits and biscuits and gravy (5.79)...yes it was a lot of food but the biscuits were so light and tasty..the gravy, just perfect and so were the grits..Ken had chicken fried steak, eggs, toast and hash browns..(7.99)..alot of food and sooooo good!! When we drove up we thought it might have been closed as the shades were closed, sun in the windows...we will be back!

Drove on and now we are in Marion Arkansas, at the KOA..we've been here before but a good place to regroup..and the rv show is something else! The big rigs are coming in and we're cozy and comfortable in our little home!
Tomorrow we head for Don and Dana's house! Looking forward to spending a few days with them and picking up our tractor. Hoping to go by the antique place where we've found our yard art before...we will still have a little room on the trailer..:))
We were just talking about this trip and just what a wonderful time we've had...love seeing the US!...

Cute house Clarksville... |
Old Main Street Clarksville! |
Love the photos. One correction - the Tastee Freeze was across from the Diamond. The Dairy King was a little farther east, on the same side of the road, across from the old high school.
