Working on the Motor Home..Happy Birthday Cheryl!

Tuesday was spent working on the Motorhome.  Ken got Mr Heater set up in there as it was definitely needed. He routed the propane hose through the floor near the water tank so the propane tank is outside. It'll be easy to take with us when we take her on the road.

This is how it looked before painting..

I got things ready and painted all the white in the bathroom. Glad it's a small bathroom haha. Looks nice and fresh now. Other than a break for lunch most of the day until 1630 or so was spent out there.  The afternoon warmed nicely so the heater was turned off.

Wednesday morning it was near 0600 by the time I brought Ken his coffee.  Ken had a breakfast date with Joe next door and I had a date with the MH.  Ken started Mr Heater before he left so I went out about 30 minutes later. It was warming nicely.

I got started on the gray portion of the paint for the bathroom.  Now everything looks nice and fresh.

Once Ken got home he set up saw horses for the 3 kitchen doors and the large bathroom door that I was painting next.  Got them done! I think I'll really like the white/gray combination throughout. :)

Ken getting the cabinets ready for me..

White medicine cabinet
White cabinet with gray behind

3 cabinets along with the one from the bathroom..not what I would pick..but it's there!

This has been our focus the last couple of days and into the near future I'm thinking. Tomorrow will be a day off as we're heading to Carson City to get new tires on my car. By the time we get back it'll be too late I'm thinking.

Happy Birthday to our daughter in law Cheryl!

Karen came over for a fire later in the day and then Amber and Baby Amelia..A good example of why God gives you children when you are young! LOL...Have a great one!

Cold temps, working on the Motor Home, lazy afternoons and 11 years ago we retired!

Saturday morning was spent just doing household things as it was way too cold to be in the motorhome. Temps were in the high 30's at lunch time. Uggs, sweatshirt and a jacket I headed out to the motorhome after lunch. I was determined to get something done. It was really cold but after working a bit in the motorhome it seemed warmer inside.  I started in the upper bunk over the driving area as I knew that would be the toughest area to do.  When I am ready to paint a lot of it will be laying on my back.  I got the curtain rods down and started the spackle.

Last night's chicken on the new barbecue...oh so yummy!

I worked for a while and then got a text of a fire around 1500..so we went next door! LOL...

Sunday was a another repeat of Saturday.  Later in the morning I headed out. There is a covering that looks like wallpaper.  All the sites I've researched say not to pull it off as it's really a protectant rather than wall paper.  On the passenger side of the bed it was really bad with wrinkling and pulling away.  I had no choice but to pull it off...oh boy! You can see water damage in the wood.

Got some sparkling done..I told hubby to leave this side alone!

Kind of a dark picture but the brown color is the bad..Ken's project..😱

I called Ken in and he's going to take the window out and do whatever needs to be done. Since that is his project now...I'll start in the bathroom.  He took the doors and valance off in there and 3 doors off the kitchen.

By the time he got that done it was lunchtime.  I was cold, even my feet were cold through my Uggs..that never happens. We both decided it was too cold to go back out. He plans on setting up a Mr. Heater out there so that will help and temps this next week are looking better.

Sunday afternoon was spent watching movies. Stuffed bell peppers for dinner so a very easy day.

Monday morning we awoke to temps of 17 degrees. Got some chores done inside and headed outside noon or so.  There's a really big medicine cabinet in the MH bathroom, so that was my chore today.  Took the sander and got rid of the rust that's there. Got it painted and it looks a lot fresher.  Yay! Did some more sparkling in the rest of the MH.

Valance and shades have been removed.
YUKKY medicine cabinet..
Much better now..touch up today...

About 1530 Ken started the barbecue, so that ended my work day LOL. Tradition is that I sit with him while he barbecues so that's what I did. :) He set up the Little Red Campfire so we were warmer out there.  Temps never did get past 43.  Ken had a fire going in the wood stove all day so it was nice and toasty in the house.

Little Red Campfire...💜

This morning (Tuesday) finds us waking to cloudy skies which usually means warmer temps..(28 heading for 56) yes! We'll see what mischief we can get into today.  Hoping to paint a bit in the MH bathroom once it warms up.

The other night we watched a movie on Prime Video called THE RIDE made in 1997. Oh wow! One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. If you need a good cry, this is the movie to watch! Actually filmed on a ranch in Mesa, AZ.

January 10th was 11 years since we both retired from Sacramento County! It's been a wonderful 11 years, looking forward to the next 11 and more!

Time to get this wonderful Tuesday started! Have a great day!

Cabela's, Motosheep, Home Depot, Fence repair, Oven Fixed!

Tuesday morning we headed out with me following Ken in the Tundra.  We got to Motosheep in Reno just before 1000.  After dropping the truck off, we headed for Cabela's where Ken sold them a gun he doesn't like and doesn't use.  He's got a little extra $$ in his pocket now :)

Cabela's ammo shelves!
Glad we bought when we could!
Cabela's gun cabinet...never looks like this..

There wasn't anything there that we needed or wanted so we weren't there long.  From there we stopped at Total Wine and picked up our online order.  We were going to Walmart but decided against it.  Just not in the mood.  We stopped at Cyzz's Appliances to see about the element, but they don't sell parts. Checked out a new stove just for pricing, but we wouldn't be buying it there. Way too expensive.

The seats were done and what an amazing job they did.  Motosheep isn't cheap, but wow we're so impressed.  We only had the front seats done as most of the time it's just us, but oh so worth the money! Ken says this will probably be his last truck, but we shall see..LOL.  I thought I had a picture..that will save for another post :)

We stopped at Washoe Lake State Park and ate our lunch that I had packed from home.  Once that was done, I headed home and Ken visited a parts place in Carson City.

Wednesday morning found Ken and John on heavy duty fence repair.  Due to heavy winds a couple of days before a good size portion of fencing between our property and theirs blew down!  They worked for several hours on it and will continue on Friday.  Because the ground is frozen, they really can't start until late morning. John has another job starting on Monday so he had to go to Reno on Thursday.

The afternoon found me in the motorhome with paint swatches from True Value.  It's nice out there because the sun shines through the windows warming it nicely.  I finally picked the colors I want and when Ken was finished for the day he joined me and agreed. :)

Thursday morning we left for Gardnerville and Walmart. We got some much needed groceries and some paint supplies.  I'm sure they were cheaper there than Home Depot would have been.

Gas, a prescription at Raley's and on to Carson City and Home Depot.  I've been researching paints for painting inside and knew pretty  much what I wanted. We got to the paint counter where Tracy helped us.  A wonderful woman who enjoys her job. You could even tell she was smiling under her mask. Behr's Marquee paint. Not cheap but supposed to be awesome.

We found a lamp to put out in the bunkhouse. It'll do until we find what we really want. Checked out, a little painful but not too bad. haha.

Next stop was Discount Tires to get some pricing on tires for the 2016 Patriot. That's gonna hurt, but we're getting 80,000 mile tires with excellent ratings. Next Thursday at 0900.

After that we headed towards Betsy's Big Kitchen. Nope we didn't go in, but sat in their parking lot and had our lunch I brought from home. They implemented their rule of no unmasking until the food comes (what is this California?!!!).  We won't go back, but they have a nice parking lot and convenient to where we were.

Time to head home.  Unloaded groceries and then got a picture of a fire from next door :) We headed over for a way too long Happy Hour. haha.

Friday morning finds us reading blogs and just enjoying the morning. This morning it was 0500 before I woke. Seems more reasonable a time than 0300 which it's been the last few days.

Well, the day went fast. Ken helped John with the fencing and during a break came home and got the stove fixed! YAY! $61.00 verses a new stove! My kitchen seems so big without a stove in the middle of it...hahah.  He went back to John's and I got the kitchen put back in order.

Ken's back home and it's Happy Hour time! Hopefully tomorrow I'll get out to the motorhome and see about getting started :)

Getting things done at home. Congratulations to Adam and Aaron! Reno bound today!

Well, here we are again and the new year is just flying by!  I forgot to mention in my last blog that on January 1st I thought I'd make some blueberry muffins for the kids. Mixed everything up, turned the oven on and after a bit put them in. I noticed that it wasn't up to temperature yet, but figured it would be in a few minutes...Nope!

Our gorgeous sunrise yesterday morning...

The oven was broken. No heat whatsoever. Once the kids left Ken took a look at it. I told him not to worry about it then as if we needed a part, we weren't going to Reno until Tuesday.

Yesterday (Monday) he unloaded one of his trailers so he could load the stove in there and see about working on it. Me and my big mouth says, "Couldn't u just work n it in the kitchen? Seems like a lot of trouble to take it outside?" He says, "Sure you don't mind it in the middle of the kitchen for a few days?" No problem..hahahah. Good thing we don't have company this week!

Karen loaned us her toaster oven, while our stove is out of commission..

Anyway, we've spent the last few days getting the house back to normal and getting some things done.

The motorhome had a really nice, thick memory phone on the front bunk bed (which is the only bed other than the couch) If I'm sleeping up there then I know i'll be very claustrophobic so I thought I'd put it on our bed. It was too small for that but perfect for the guest bedroom, even though they are both queen beds.

I called and got insurance on the motor home, now we can get it registered and see about getting it on the road to somewhere close, maybe.

Grandson Adam texted the Sunday night he was signing papers on a new Toyota Tacoma.  Big step for him!

2021 Toyota Tacoma...

Yesterday our youngest grandson, Aaron got his driver's permit! Congratulations Aaron!!

Aaron!!

This morning we're headed to Reno so Ken can get his new seat covers installed in the Tundra.  These were custom sewn so hoping they go on without a hitch! We'll take my car and run around. Hate waiting in those places doing nothing..haha.

Ken wants to go by Cabela's (of course). I want to go by Total Wine (of course) and they'll be a trip to an appliance store for the element needed and Walmart for groceries. Our day will be done by the time we get back home.

Time to get this day started! Have a great one!

Happy New Year!

Tuesday morning about 1140 I see a dark colored truck coming down the road. Yep, it's the kids in their dad Eric's truck.  Better safe than sorry with unpredictable weather.

Seth and Holly ready to welcome in 2021 💜
Papa Ken, Aaron, Seth and Mason...can't believe how tall all these boys

                                                      have gotten!

After hugs and greetings we all sat in the living room for awhile and caught up. After a bit time to make tuna sandwiches for Seth and Mason.  Holly and Aaron weren't hungry.  Seth said he hadn't had a tuna sandwich since I brought them down to his graduation a year ago November! Seth, I'll make tuna sandwiches for you any time! 💙

After a while they decided to take the Can Am and quads out for a ride. It was a very cold afternoon (mid 40's) but they wanted to go anyway.

Seth and Holly ready for the ride!
                                                         Aaron!

                                                       Mason!

John and Karen started a fire so we headed over there after leaving a note for the kids. I had made enchiladas and coleslaw for dinner, only needed to be heated up. Ken saw the kids after they came back and told them dinner was cooked. Luckily Holly knew how to start the oven and heated them up.

Wednesday morning after staggered breakfasts (between 0900 and 1300) it was mainly a quiet day of doing what the kids wanted.  Holly wanted to make jalapeño poppers so I ran to the store and then gave her the run of the kitchen.  OH MY that girl can make some killer poppers!!

                                                          Mason
Not the best pic..but it was cute..Holly asked Seth to stir the cream cheese and cheese.  Seth looked startled and said "ME?"she said, "I have faith you can do it😂"

Later we headed out back, Ken started a roaring fire and then barbecued some awesome Papa Burgers.  Joe and Stacy came over and joined us for dinner too. A very nice night.

Joe came over for breakfast and coffee Thursday morning.  Again, staggered breakfasts and what ever the kids wanted.  We bribed Joe's daughter Rylee into coming over for breakfast by describing Mason's chocolate chip pancakes with ice cream and whipped cream 😊 Even daddy Joe had one 😀

A little later Seth and Holly ran to Raley's and picked up the fixings for Pretzel Cake (?)  I gladly gave Holly the run of the kitchen once again. Oh such yummy goodness with cream cheese, cool whip, jello, fruit and crushed pretzels..oh YES! Because it was New Years Eve we took that masterpiece over to John and Karen's along with a few other things.

The kids did go for one more ride for about an hour or so. They were gone longer than I would have thought as temps were still cold. Glad they had a good time!

John barbecued an awesome prime rib along with lots of fixings.  Anytime after 1900 the dinner was ready.  We all had a good time by the fire waiting for 2021 to appear, I only made it until 2230 and then headed home.  It was really cold and earlier in the day I had told Ken "I'm tired"...lol.

Karen goes all out with the masks etc...
                                    Karen and granddaughter Sophia!
                                                    Karen and Ken
Our awesome friends, John and Karen..we lucked out getting them next door!
Sophia and her mommy, Isabel 💖

Ken walked me home and went back.  The kids came home too and then went back just before midnight to welcome in the new year.  I was snug in my bed fast asleep.

Friday morning it was breakfasts and then time for the kids to head back home.  Seth leaves on Sunday to head back to San Diego. They left here about 1030.  Ken and Mason, (with Mason driving) followed them to the gas station in town so Ken could fill their tank.

I always tell them to text me when they get home. Of course they don't (boys) but I figure no news is good news, so I don't worry (too much). We're both so happy they came out to spend a few days with us! Certainly made our New Year! 😊

Aaron, Seth and Mason 💙💙💙 I have a pic

with Holly too..just got to find it!

I spent the rest of the day washing and changing bedding, taking down Christmas in  the bunkhouse and by 1530 I was done (in more ways than one).  Ken came in a few minutes later and joined me on the couch!

We watched a couple of movies and had a dinner of leftovers.

This morning I found myself awake at 0215...tossed and turned.  Nope, not going back to sleep so might as well get something done.

We'll be heading to Gardnerville this am to pick up a couple of prescriptions that are ready. We shall see what the rest of the day brings.

                                   Thinking of Jacob this morning..💙💙

0530..time to wake up Ken and get his day going! Have a great one!

Catch up once again..and out of storage according to Google..

Good Monday afternoon! Well, I started the blog Christmas morning while we at our motel. See where that got me, nowhere..so I'm starting over. haha.

Last week Adam and his sweetie, Erin came out for a couple of days. While they were here he took her to see the ghost town of Bodie which is 84 miles or so from us. They enjoyed their time there.  Adam has been before but not Erin. We had a couple of good evenings with them.

Adam and Erin going for a Can Am ride in the cold!
Santa headed next door...
Adam and Erin are headed home...
Our wonderful neighbors gave us this for Christmas :)

Thursday morning we left and headed for Cool and Georgetown CA to drop off gifts   for those two families.  We dropped the food I made to contribute to Christmas dinner too. Eric was going to be working a graveyard shift so he was home and Bryan is on his yearly vacation this time of year. It was nice to visit with both families.

Once we finished there we headed for our motel in Auburn, Ca.  We enjoyed the evening and ate in our room dinner I had brought from home.

Christmas morning we had some breakfast casserole I brought from home and then got ourselves going.  We were at Dusty and Chelsea's place a little after 0900. Their kids are the perfect age for Santa, so that was fun seeing what Santa brought them.

Owen showing off his special Michael Myers Van's shoes...

Adam, Bryan and Cheryl at Eric's house..

Russell's remodeled bathroom..it's amazing!

After that we headed for our youngest son Russell's house and we were able to watch them open their gifts along with what they got us. :) Thank you for waiting until we got there :) With Jacob in Italy most of the presents under the tree were for Aaron. We did get to FaceTime with Jacob!

We arrived at Eric's house just about 1200. It was a really nice visit and way too much food!

We left around 1600 and headed back to the motel. Another good night, we were both asleep pretty early.

Saturday morning we got on the road about 0915 heading for home. We had pills to pick up in Gardnerville so we headed up Highway 50.  California has a stay at home order...hahahaha. NO one stayed home!  Traffic was awful and very slow. People looking for places to pull off in the snow to play.

We grabbed our pills and stuff for Beer Margaritas, as Ken mentioned them on the way home.  Thanks Tom and Deb  for introducing us to these tasty drinks!!

Karen had texted and invited us to dinner as John's son, Jesse was visiting from Oklahoma.  We got things unloaded and headed over there for a nice fire and awesome lasagna dinner. I haven't had "real" lasagna in over 2 years, but it's Christmas right?!

Sunday morning I continued with the' It's Christmas right"?! We headed next door for some awesome biscuits and gravy before Jesse had to leave for home. Karen can cook, and again it's been a long time! YUM!

After breakfast I headed for Walmart in Gardnerville to get groceries for the coming week. We're having visitors! Seth, Holly, Mason and Aaron are coming out on Tuesday and staying until New Years Day.  Adam may be coming out later in the week too. We're missing Jacob and Allissa this year 😔

This morning we woke up to snow, just a dusting but glad I went yesterday!

Well, I'm done loading pictures as Google is saying my storage is full..so I better look into that! UHHH..

Have a good night! It's Happy Hour anyway...lol..

Happy Birthday Grandma! "Mortgage Burning Celebration next door!"

Thursday morning we had some breakfast casserole I made at home and brought for breakfast at the hotel.  They normally have a continental breakfast, but due to the virus they don't serve it at this time.

Got ourselves ready and headed out to Total Wine and then to Walmart for some grocery shopping.  Once we were done there we headed home.  Then came the fun of putting groceries away..the part I hate the most LOL.

I heard from Jacob that my Christmas package was delivered to him  :) 15 days and that's how long the last package took to get to Italy.

Friday was a  stay at home day :) Ken's mom turned 93 today! She was having a good day at home celebrating.  She's a special lady who has been in my life since I was about 10 years old.  Happy Birthday Grandma!! 💖 I'll have to find a pic and post it later.

Heard from Karen next door, this was a special day in their lives.  After 5 years they were headed to the title company and paying off their mortgage!!

About 1530 we headed over to celebrate with them! They were so happy and can't say as I blame them. It's so nice not making a mortgage payment! We headed home about 2045..yep, enough celebrating haha.

John and Karen! Mortgage FREE!

Woohoo! Bring on the champagne!

Saturday morning we took our time getting ready for the day.  Ken went outside and dragged the harrow around the driveways he's made. Grandkids from next door have ridden their new quads around and it was time to smooth the roads :)

Coconut flour peanut butter muffins with Lily's sugar free chocolate chips.                                                                           I only made 6 as it was the first time making these but they are delicious!

Around 1400 or so Ken saw John outside working on his cover he's doing so Ken went over to help out.  Around 1600 Ken came home as they were losing the daylight. He will be going over this morning again.

We had the low carb stew I had made on Friday for dinner..oh so yummy! I used radishes in it instead of potatoes ( 1/2 a potato in there for Ken).  The radishes don't taste like potato but they absorb the broth and swell. Trust me, very good!

I'm having fun researching what I want to do to the motorhome. There's a lot of beautiful renovations out there. I don't want to go crazy, but looking forward to changing it up a bit!

Time to get the show on the road and see what the day brings! Happy Sunday!💗
