A great week with grandkids!

Monday morning I left the house about 0620 and headed for California to pick up Mason and Jackson.  About an hour into the drive I had a message from our son, Eric.  I called him and he said that the baseball tournament had changed and they wouldn't be playing on Monday because of weather.  He offered to meet me so we agreed on Fresh Pond on Highway 50.  The drive was beautiful with no stopping and very light traffic.

I got a text message from oldest grandson, Adam saying he was coming to visit for two nights! Yep, a happy grandma! Just missing Jacob, Aaron and Seth!

I got to Fresh Pond first and not 1 minute later Eric and the boys showed up.  We had a nice little visit and then loaded them in and off we went.  I figured they'd be hungry so after getting gas in Minden, we stopped at Subway to feed them .

I got home in time to have lunch with Ken and as we were eating, Adam showed up with his "new to him" car.  I made him a sandwich, as I knew he was hungry! We all visited for awhile and just enjoyed each other's company.  The boys brought their RC Cars so they enjoyed being outside playing with those.  Eventually it was time for dinner and the evening. I had put a pork roast in the crockpot before leaving in the am so adding a little (?!) bar b q sauce to it and the buns the boys all had a satisfying dinner.

Jackson and Mason decided to call the fifth wheel home for the time they're here, so they headed out.

Tuesday morning, Ken and I were up early doing our regular morning things when Adam got up.  He had been researching different trail hikes the night before, but around here a lot are still closed due to snow so he decided on the Wilson Canyon hike.  He did it a few years ago with Papa but it's been awhile.  It was sprinkling, but there was no changing his mind.  With his backpack full of snacks and a sandwich he headed out.  He enjoyed being gone a few hours and doing the hike.  He said he ate the sandwich while crouched under a rock in the pouring rain..haha. The life of an adventurer!
Adam ready to hike the trail..

Mason was a happy camper when the mail came..his dad ordered
a new battery for the RC car!

Jackson

Quite awhile later, the other boys got up and breakfast was had. They took the bicycles for a ride up to the water tower and then a little hike up the hill. Once they were back they played with the RC cars outside and just did whatever they found to do.

Ken put up the ping pong table so in the evening we had our usual ping pong games.  Even Ken played using his left hand, and the boys played using their less dominant hand. Good playing gotta say Ken has gotten pretty good at being left handed in the last 3 weeks!
Of course cookies had to be made!

Papa had to get in on it!!

Wednesday morning we were up and then Adam got up not too much later.  We had breakfast and then got him on the road as he had to be at work later in the afternoon.  He texted me after he got home safe and sound.

Adam's good bye request..Egg sandwich

Mason and Adam..

Bye Adam, travel safely!

Jackson and Mason loaded their backpack and took off with snacks for another ride to the water tower and a hike further up the hill.  I ran to Raley's and Family Dollar while they were gone. They were home by the time I got home and they were hanging out in the fifth wheel.  Later I went to check on them and they both said, the hike must have gotten to them :)  They were being lazy! Eventually we all went back to the garage for some more ping pong and then dinner.  A simple one of burgers and fries but they were happy!
Last night's game

It was actually kind of cute..We were talking about them going home and Jackson said, " We don't have to go home yet do we?!" I said no, on Friday..he said "Oh good, because I don't want to go home yet!"  I loved hearing that and he's not even our grandkid! haha..:))

Our beautiful sunset!

This morning I thought I'd get caught up before the boys get up and need breakfast. Have a great day!

Catch up..darn Pioneer Woman..heading to CA tomorrow one day turnaround!

Well, the days have flown and I need to keep up better on this blog.  Thursday Ken and I headed for Reno and Total Wine.  I ordered a case of my faves on Wednesday evening and it was ready before closing on Wednesday.

Got there and picked it up quickly.  Ok what to do now?  We drove over to Carson City and visited Home Depot to check out their flooring.  Actually found one I liked, but it was really cheap.  I'm sure I'd pay tons more o have it installed than what this floor was worth.  We decided to keep looking and see if we could find something similar but better quality.

After that we headed to Minden and CVI (Carson Valley Inn). We asked about Carmen but still no date on her return. :(   We had a delicious lunch and then I drove home (no 1/2 carafe for me)..haha.

We got home and a little later headed next door for Happy Hour with Jack and Mugsy.  It was really windy and cold so we went inside and sat with Mugsy for a bit.  We left our leftovers with Jack so he was happy :)

Friday morning I got a text from our Grandson Mason asking if he and his friend Jackson could come over for Easter Break.  I said "of course" so I'm headed out Monday morning to pick them up. :) Happy Grandma and Papa too.  I tried to get Aaron but he has basketball practice and they are in LA for tournaments on Friday.  We'll play it by ear with the boys but I said i'd take them home on Friday as that is our son Eric's 44th birthday (Mason's dad).  April is a busy month with birthdays for us.  Eric on the 19th, Grandson Adam on the 21st he'll turn 20 and Bryan on the 26th..he'll turn 46!  Wow they're getting old! Hah.

Friday was spent around the house, it was a nice day!  Neighbor Joe came by in the evening and we made plans to have breakfast at Dini's on Saturday morning.  Then we headed over to Karen's for Happy Hour with our buddies Jack and Mugsy.  The four of us hung out for a while.
Ken and Mugsy

Jack..:)

Saturday morning we got ourselves ready and had a great breakfast and conversation with Joe, Stacey, Rylee and Susan (Stacey's mom). We watched Pioneer Woman before we left.  She made a Pasta Primavera Salad cold dish.  Looked so yummy with tons of veggies. Ken said he wanted it to go with the bar b q chicken he was going to make for dinner. Your wish is my command..haha. I ran to Raley's to get what we didn't have and then spent a while cutting veggies.  Because I don't eat noodles I took a zuchinni and used the spiralizer to make zoodles.  Perfect. Both dishes were awesome along with the bar b q chicken.

Mine, without noodles..

Ran into Rylee and her Grammy at  Raley's
They hosted a cookie decorating for Easter.

This little one was so cute..enjoying the cookie.."he" decorated..

Karen got home near 1200 and invited us over for a fire. Once Ken was done bar b quing we headed over.  Had a great fire and conversation along with a few drinks we came home just before dark.  We had our delicious dinner and called it a night!
Wonderful grilled chicken!
Our beautiful sunset!

Sunday morning we slept in until almost 0700!  Doesn't happen very often, but it's Sunday right?  Coffee, visiting with bloggers to see what they're up to and another Pioneer Woman.  This time she had a Pasta Primavera dinner...oh no!
We decided to go ahead and spray the weeds around here.  21 gallons of weed spray to be exact!  We hooked the sprayer to Ken's quad and I drove and he used the wand behind.  When he started hurting we traded spots.  I kept telling him to go inside and rest, but did he listen?! NO!  We finished and then ran water through the sprayer a few times and we're done for now.  Hoping the weeds die and in a few weeks we can get what we didn't if need be.
21 gallon sprayer with quad...

While he rested I ran to Raley's to get some Kid Foods since we'll have two teenagers for a few days! When I got back I made the Pasta Primavera for Ken and I added some chicken breast to it.  Looks good.
Pasta Primavera with chicken..Ken's dinner
Eric took the boys fishing yesterday..Mason, left
Seth right! No fish were caught though..

So tomorrow I'm hoping to leave somewhere between 0630 and 0700 to get the boys! Happy they want to come even if there won't be any gun shooting and quad rides since Papa is out of commission but we'll find something to do for sure!

Hanging out at home! :)

Sunday was a day of being outside! It was beautiful and in the high 70's! Of course it's Nevada so enjoy it while we can, as it's sure to change quickly.  I did a little planting of the flowers I bought the other day and Ken hung outside too. In the afternoon I caught him in the garage taking a little nap on the lounge chair we take camping.
Ivy geranium ...hoping I can keep it alive!

I came inside to make a salad and he came in shortly after, saying he got cold in the garage (told you it's Nevada) LOL!

We cooked the pizza and I ran some pizza and salad over to Karen. I made some muffins and banana bread so shared that with her too. Visited for a few minutes but it was time to get home and enjoy our pizza, which we did.  We've both decided that we like the broccoli crust the best.  Very easy (especially if you have a food processor) and tasty.
What was left of the pizza..so yummy!

Monday morning I decided to get the paint brush out once again.  I had wanted to repaint the trim around our front door for quite awhile now. Just a freshening up and it definitely looks better!

Ken got our sprayer and quad ready to go.  We have all kinds of weeds popping up all over the place!  It's a once or twice a year job to spray, as it's more than I can do with my partner, the Hula Hoe!  He checked out all the fittings and spray wands, he ran some water through it, but not the pesticide as you're not supposed to let it sit.  Of course the winds came up so that took care of it for Monday.
More Marigolds in Russell's Mother's Day pot

Marigolds in Russell's MD Pot...

We did sit outside on the patio out front and had Happy Hour while Ken cooked up some chicken breasts for chicken sandwiches (for him) for dinner.  I enjoyed mine like a steak with some veggies. Yummy dinner. He had some fries to go with his.

Tuesday morning dawned cloudy and windless! We did our thing to get going and just a few hours later the winds came up! Boy did they!  So, that nixed the idea of spraying :( There wasn't much Ken could do so later in the morning he got a few movies out and turned on The Bucket List.  We watched that movie in Mississippi several years ago in the cab over during a rain storm. Fond memories of that trip.  Eventually I finished my chores and grabbed my kindle to finish a book I started, did well, til the end of that movie and oh how it makes me cry! I mean boo hoo cry! But I love that movie! ;)

So, the rest of the day was spent being couch potatoes and watching movies. Oh well, what do you do?!  Dinner was cooked as there was left over chicken which Ken had. I ate the veggies and a salad. Great dinner and easy!

Wednesday morning I woke up at 0600! After being awaked for a couple hours in the middle of the night that's what happened.  So I started the coffee and crawled back into bed after turning on the heater.  It's a cold morning! Sun is shining.  Daughter in law Christina called as I was going out to get the coffee.  We had a nice chat while she drove to work.  Eric called last night, Bryan the night before and Cheryl too. Nice touching base with most of the kids!

As I'm sitting here updating the blog, that old wind is back! UHHH..Today though, I'm finding something to keep me busy for sure! :) Have a great day!

Zoomed in on Karen's flag..darn wind! But isn't she beautiful :)

Ken's appointment..Happy Hour next door..Brocolli pizza crust..

Friday morning we left here around 0900 to head for Ken's appointment in Carson City at 11:45.  We always like to leave enough time for a flat tire or traffic incident.  We got there just about 1100 and went inside. They apparently were running ahead of schedule instead of behind and Ken got right in.  After taking the many (at least 25 to 30) staples out of him they sent him for an X-ray of his shoulder.  A few minutes later  Stephanie, the physicians assistant came in.  She assisted in the surgery so she was able to tell us all about the surgery and then she put the X-ray up of his new shoulder.  Pretty amazing to see his new parts!

He's in a holding pattern for the next month.  He still has to wear the sling and can take it off when he's sitting down. No movement other than to let it hang, and a few exercises while it's hanging.  We go back May 7th, when they will add physical therapy.

After the appointment we headed to Walmart for some shopping and then to our favorite Chinese restaurant.  About 1430 we headed for home.  His first long outing since surgery and by the end of the day, sitting in the car for over 3+ hours took a toll.  Ken's side was really hurting where the big cushion on the sling sits.  It was a pretty laid back evening.
Saturday morning's sunrise...

It was so pretty!

Saturday morning I was awake at around 0300..never could go back to sleep so about 0500 I got up.  At 0600 I as ready to wake Ken up but he got up on his own. We did our usual morning thing and go the day going.  I told Ken I was craving pizza for dinner so I ran to Raley's for just a couple of things.  Was looking to make spaghetti squash crust, but the squash at Walmart were so huge it would have cost a fortune at $1.39 a pound.  Raley's was out of the squash so settled on broccoli instead.

While in town I stopped at Tru Value to pick up some fire starters, but they were out. I had to go look in the garden shop area.  I picked up a six pack of marigolds as those were always planted at our house growing up.  I was able to get an ivy geranium to plant in a hanging planter Russell gave me last year for Mother's Day.  Their plants were so beautiful it was hard not to get carried away!

Made the pizza yesterday afternoon. About 1630 we headed next door for Happy Hour.  There was a fire going in the backyard and all the visitors were outside.  Well, Happy Hour turned into to too many hours! haha..so we'll be having pizza tonight!   We'll invite Karen over for dinner as her family is leaving for Southern CA this morning.
