After the Storm in Cornversville, TN!

Don sent some beautiful pictures from after the storm...

Don's truck!

Near the back deck..

Out by the creek...

Thanks Don for the lovely pictures!  Like Don said and we do too...pictures just don't do it justice!  Their property is so beautiful and you just can't see the incredible views and quietness of the property...but since we've seen it in person  these pictures mean a lot to us..it's beautiful in all the seasons, but after a snow storm it's really something else!!

Got a couple of pictures from Facebook...Wendy's birthday was last week, so Shawn (her hubby) planned a surprise lunch for her at Lucille's Bar B Q..we didn't make it (it would have been a 1 day turnaround)..but looks like a nice time was had...

There's the Birthday girl!  Across from her ..Daughter Ursula
and her husband, Steve..Wendy talking to Baby Owen..

Shawn at the head of the table, Angelina..their granddaughter
Bobby next to baby Owen,..who I think is probably flirting with someone
Angelina's Dad, Aaron was there too, along with Tasha and her boyfriend, Nick and Diane was able to make it too!  Linda took the pics so no pictures of her.

We went to Walmart in Gardnerville, Big 5 in Minden and got a new camping coffeepot for the Jayco.  We have one, but it leaks when it starts perking so we'll see how this one does.  We take the electric one, but in most campgrounds (other than full hook ups)..we use the stove top coffee pot.  We have a generator but don't like to use it that early!

After that it was time for lunch...so off to Carson Valley Inn..headed home after that...

This was our view of the mountains near Gardnerville, NV!
Beautiful!
*Remember to click on the pics and they will get bigger...

Off to Scolari's this am for a few things and then football this afternoon..and if all goes as planned we are outta here tomorrow morning!

We're thinking there's a trip to Tennessee either this spring (before watering)..or early fall...We had decided to sell the 97 Ford..looks like we might be changing our mind, as we need one more tractor for out front!  Thinking we're going to be calling our tractor guy, Clifford and he's in TN!  So we'll be able to put the cabover on the 97 and then pull the car hauler..the cabover won't work on the Tundra..so we'll keep you posted!

Getting ready to go!

It's Saturday morning..just finished watching a great Pioneer Woman episode :))
Good way to start my morning..We're headed for Gardnerville and Walmart this morning.  Gotta get our food and stuff..if all goes as planned we're outta here Monday morning!

It's about 270 miles to Death Valley from here..a long day for us but thinking we'll make it!  Ken's been working on making sure the trailer is ready, checking wheel bearings etc and loading up the Tundra with bikes, comfy chairs etc..pretty much my job is clothes and food!

While Ken was getting the vehicles ready I spent a couple of hours the last two days with the hula hoe..looks pretty good out front if I do say myself!  We like the sagebrush but we have a lot of dried up tumbleweeds..and don't like the way they look..of course can't get rid of all but clearing an area a bit makes it look so much better.

So needless to say, the RUDB didn't get worked on..but it'll be here when we get back.

Jacob there in the center...it looked like a fight at first
but the ball is way above..they won!  Jacob made 11 points..
Linda, Bobby, Dusty, Diane and Jesse were able to go to the game!

Don and Dana had their first real snowstorm in Tennessee!  He sent the following pictures yesterday...Beautiful!

Sweet Pea ..don't think she's too crazy about the snow!

Heidi, looking good!

Love this pic!  Their outbuilding is their chicken coop!
Lucky chickens!

This is a picture of their chickens taken in December!

We finally got Cheryl's Christmas gift on the wall..love it! So the American
Flag on the left she gave us a few years ago (it's a puzzle) and the other American
flag, it felt stars she made..and of course our map that Eric made!

Miss Betty got a little pampering yesterday at the doggie spa..
Love how she smiles~

Christina got a couple of "new" pieces of furniture this week..

The East Coast had quite a snowstorm this week...The Tomb of the Unknown still being guarded 24/7!  As a good friend of ours says, "Now this is America!"

God Bless these Soldiers!

It's Wednesday! More progress on the Really Ugly Disgusting Bathroom (RUDB)...

Work has continued on the RUDB this week!  Like with any remodel it has to get worse before it gets better and that's exactly what's happening :))

Looks like the flashlight might be here today, but we're not planning on leaving until Monday.. We talked about leaving tomorrow but decided between loading the truck and trailer, grocery shopping etc..it would just be too much..besides the playoff games are on Sunday, and we didn't want to be in a campground with no hookups.  So Ken gets to work on the RUDB a little more.

Ken took the wall cover ing off the wall leading to the backside
of the kids room closet

Marmite gone and door from storage

Ok...this is how they attached the shower covering with
nails!

So embarrassed to even show this..but I have tried every cleaner
I can think of..to try to clean this thing..yukk..i think because of the
disgusting water we had when we moved in, everything was brown.

Wall is gone leading to the kids closet..he will be cutting it
back a few inches for the new shower pan and vanity..

Near the end of the day yesterday..shower door gone, yay..

Looking into the kids closet...

End of day Tuesday..Some of the wall by the shower has been cut
back ..closet will be a little smaller but that's ok, since no one lives
in that room except when gkids are here..

Yesterday was my sister Wendy's 59th Birthday!  Happy Birthday little sister!!

Also our Daughter in Law Christina, celebrated her birthday yesterday too!! Sounds like she had a pretty good Birthday weekend!

I'm pretty sure i've posted the pic below before, but Linda posted it on FB yesterday so I had to steal it! That's my daddy, top left..and it's so amazing that he looks so much like our grandson, Mason!

Not a whole lot going on..

Just a quick update..mainly so I don't forget what's going on..It was a beautiful day yesterday so Ken ran the quads a bit just to get some gas through them.  I ran to the grocery store in town quickly..and after lunch I thought i'd actually go outside and do a little hula hoeing..didn't happen as the winds came up and that just wouldn't have been fun..

Changed our plans a bit it looks like.  We were going to leave next Thursday for Death Valley as our first stop (one of my favorite places)..but...Around Christmas time, we ordered a couple of really good flashlights from Sportsman's Guide..one of them turned out to be good and the other one is crap..So Ken called them, and they are sending another but when that box gets here we have to return the crappy one or they will charge us for the new one.  So we're waiting for the flashlight to come and then we'll be ready to go.

The plus about this...Ken gets to work on the RUDB some more! Yay!!

Cheryl sent this pic last night of Adam..guess Basketball kicked his rear..or like Cheryl said, maybe he's resting because he has to clean his room on Sunday..(she sent this at 1859 last night)...Congratulations on the 4.0 report card!

More work on the ugly bathroom..

The usual routine here in the morning...coffee, computer etc.. I ran to Scolari's for a few things and then back home.

Ken spent a good part of the day working on the ugly bathroom..he got some of the flooring laid and then got the new toilet installed.  I thought he was pushing it, (and also thinking that if he did that work would stop for awhile)...me of little faith!  Anyway, after he did it I have to say I'm glad he did, as we were able to see that part of the 3rd bedroom closet is going to have to go.  We bought the oval shaped bowl so it's definitely bigger than what was there before..so if we don't take part of the closet, you won't have much room to get around the toilet to either the shower (don't think the shower door would open all the way)..or to get to the sink.  So I have to admit it's a good thing he got that in, otherwise it wouldn't have worked.
The new toilet..hooked up and ready to go..see the wall in front..
that's the one that's going to be moved to make more room..

The floor we selected (Lowe's doesn't carry the hallway floor any longer)
but I'm happy with this as it's lighter color..will work for what I have
in mind..

We did talk last night and are thinking either end of next week or beginning of next we'll probably head south.  For a change, it's Ken whose got the hankering to head out..probably because he knows there's always projects to get done..Actually, once we get the ugly bathroom and the bunk house done we'll be pretty set here.

Woke up to a pleasant surprise here this am...a light dusting of SNOW!  A nice surprise!  You just never know what you're gonna get here..all day yesterday it rained and snowed in CA and Reno area..we got nothing..now overnight it snows!  Love it!!

Good morning Yerington!  Out my kitchen window..

Out the back door

Good stay at Bryan's house...Happy Birthday Cheryl!

Went to Dini's Casino in town for breakfast on Tuesday when we left here.  They have a breakfast special of eggs, hash browns, toast and your choice of bacon or sausage for $2.99..so that' s what we got and I gave Ken my sausage so he had both bacon and sausage for breakfast.  I ordered a side order of country gravy (sometimes I just can't help myself)..and it was delicious! Someone there knows how to make gravy!  Out the door for $7.48 for the two of us and we were stuffed!

Stopped at Lowe's in Fernley and bought a dremmel tool for cutting tile (figure not only did it work at Bryan's but hopefully we'll need it in a bit for the ugly bathroom)...

Got to Bryan's about 1130..I went down the hill to return a jacket to Bass Pro and before i knew it it was time to head back up.  They got the tile and the water problem fixed, so Cheryl was a happy camper!  She has her own shower back!

Enjoyed a nice night with their family and as always happens probably too much wine but it was fun.

Got up yesterday and made some french toast and bacon for Cheryl's birthday and then we headed out.  Got to South Reno about 1300 so we stopped at BJ's Brewery and Restaurant..We've seen it several times but Ken thought to try it yesterday...Killer burger he had!  I got on my smart phone to check out the menu, and they had buy 1 entree get 1 free!  So what  a deal..good food, good service and a big variety on the menu!
A little blowing snow on I80

Short area for chain control..but the new Patriot had no problem

Ken's double burger and a beer..

Came home through Virginia City as we figured the day was shot and nothing was getting done..sure was pretty!
Heading up Geiger Grade to Virginia City

Near the top of the grade ...

Virginia City..even though a lot of places closed, still a lot of cars..

Got home, made a fire, no dinner for us as we were stuffed and a early night!

Beautiful sunrise here in Yerington this am..

Work is continuing...headed to CA today..

Ken has continued working on the bathroom..I've got a few pics i'll post later, but really unless you're here you don't realize what goes into getting it ready so we can make it new.

He got the floor fixed, the old vanity out and new plywood in...still ugly, but really looks better than it did!

The ugly vanity, before it came out

This really ugly light...

Vanity gone!

Vanity gone and new plywood in place..

Cheryl had mentioned last week that she can't use the shower in her bathroom as more water is going out the spout than out the shower head.  We're going to head over there today and see if Ken can help her out.  Several years ago they tiled the bathroom so it appears the tile just needs to be cut back a bit so they can get to the washer behind..and replace it.

Cheryl's 49th birthday is tomorrow, so I baked her a German Chocolate cake yesterday..since we're there the day before her day..Figured it was close enough.  We'll spend the night and leave and return home tomorrow morning.

It's still up in the air as to when we'll leave and head to Parker, AZ but in the next few weeks..once it warms up there.

This morning here in beautiful Yerington, NV..a balmy 17 degrees..better than the 5 degrees a few weeks ago.

A little dusting of snow...doesn't last long, but it sure is pretty!
