We did have a nice dinner with KC, Sierra and little Rylee at Cracker Barrel. They all had the fried chicken dinner and wow lot's of food. I had grilled chicken medallions and that was certainly yummy! It seems they like to add the liquid smoke to some things so beware! Green beans and country gravy are two that I know of for sure. YUK. In my opinion! A really nice time we had.
Thursday morning found us at grandson Aaron's 8th grade promotion. We met up with Russell and Lori who had gotten there early to stand in line for good seats and we got them :) It was over fairly quickly and we went back to their house to wait for BJ's Brewery to open at 1100. We got there and had about a 10 minute wait, turns out they had plenty of seats but not enough servers. Nice visit and food. We said our Congrats and good byes as it was time to get back to Cal Expo and get hooked up for the move to Cool.

Our grandson, Jacob wasn't at his brother's promotion as he was spending the day at MEPS in Sacramento. He called me that afternoon to say he hated every minute of it, except when he was sworn into the NAVY!!! Congratulations Jacob! At this point he has a tentative leave date of January 2020. He's working with the Special Forces recruiter so he's got some heavy duty PT to get done. We will see what happens!
A pretty good drive and we were parked at Eric's house for the next few days! Mason's promotion was scheduled for 1800 so we got ourselves ready and headed up to the school. A very quick promotion ceremony but very nice. Pretty warm too! We came back and visited outside, probably longer than we should have, but it was a really nice night!

Friday morning, went in the house and made some breakfast for the boys who still had to head for school for one last day (basically so the schools get their last $$). Christina still had to go to work, so Eric and Ken headed down the hill to get some things done for the party on Saturday.
I took advantage of a "real" kitchen and made up the seven layer dip, macaroni salad, sausage cheese balls and a caesar salad. I'm slow so it took a great part of the day. haha. Ken and Eric got back around 1400 and I was making some sandwiches for them but Seth's car wouldn't start :0 so off they went to see what the problem was. Seth got a ride home and then Mason came home, so made them a couple of sandwiches.
Ken and Eric got back so we sat down to a linner. They had sandwiches and macaroni salad which was going to hold everyone for the day.
Seth had to be at school by 1730 so they headed out. They saved us some front row seats! Graduation started promptly at 1900 and out they come to be promoted to the real world. Always very emotional seeing all these young people who not so long ago were our little grand babies and now these young adults making adult decisions! We sure our feeling very blessed that all our grandchildren are making us so proud!
It was over within an hour, Seth headed for Sober Grad Night and we headed back home. Eric and Chris went to get Seth's car and came home a bit later. Ken had started a fire outside so Ken, Eric, Mason and I visited a bit. Before we knew it after 2300 and time for bed. We've got a party to get ready for on Saturday!
I love this picture of Seth and his mom! |

Glad to get this done this am! We've got a party to get too so we can celebrate Seth!
Enjoy your day, I'm sure we will!
I'm sure Jacob was glad when the processing was completed at MEPS and he was able to swear in.
ReplyDeleteIt's a big moment in a young persons life. Was anyone with him to video/photograph the ceremony or witness the event?
They don't seem to make a big deal over it down there even his recruiter wasn't there. When Seth got sworn in, Eric waited in the parking lot and no one came to tell him. The one before boot camp is the BIG one and I"m sure there will be family there then! Jacob said there were tons of young men there!
DeleteSo much fun family time , the graduations and all you have a good reason to be proud go the whole family, thanks for the wonderful photos .
ReplyDeleteThank you George! It went really quickly and we are so happy to have been there for sure! Time flies!
DeleteYou have had a busy few days. Great that you were able to be there for all of the celebrations. All the best to those two young men joining the Navy and Marines.
ReplyDeleteI concur with Bill. How nice that you were able to be in attendance. Those young boys aren't boys anymore! :)
