A little yard work and Carson City Toyota..2 more officers shot in Sacramento..

Wednesday was basically another at home day.  We ended up sleeping in until 0700 or so.  I am so bothered with these allergies that waking up in the middle of the night is the norm, with dry mouth and hard time sleeping.  The news had said that the ragweed allergies are bad and that they can take a long time for people to become allergic.  I believe that's what's happened with me. We've been here over 4 years now and this is the worst it's been.  Pharmacist had suggested some over the counter allergy pills which I've taken off and on because I don't like the dry mouth side effect. I don't like taking pills in the first place.

WE did our morning ritual of following up with blogging friends, coffee and computing.  Talked about what to do with our day.  About 0930 we got some cloud cover so I decided to go out front and hula hoe some more of the ragweed and throw it into the 2nd burn pile.  As long as you get it when it's not too big it pulls out easily.  Next year we'll start earlier on spraying and hopefully get a handle on it.

After about an hour, I made a pretty good dent, and I was "glistening" to the point of it being disgusting, a nice cool shower felt really good.

Ken dug up another 10+ feet on the septic/water line and was able to get another piece of piping in.  The first 10+ feet was a lot of sand and rock the last 3 feet or so was mostly sand. Hoping it stays that way for him, much easier digging.
Ken's dirt pile out of the ditch..the last 3 feet or so easy digging..

Rocky the first 17 foot or so..

20 foot of pipe!

Another 20 feet or so.. until the plumbing is where
it needs to be for the outhouse..

Running the water line..the white pipe..runs in snake fashion
so joints will move in the heat and cold and not pull apart..

I ran to Scolari's for a few things and then got stuff together for homemade pizza.  It was sinfully delicious!

This morning, (Thursday) we set the alarm for 0530 so we could do our blogging and take it easy so we could get out of here about 0800 or so to head for Carson City.  Time for the 45,000 mile check up for the Tundra.  Ken left first and i left about 1/2 hr later as he was going by the ATV place next door to Carson City Toyota to see about the registration for the quads.  It didn't happen again..this person wanted the quads there for VIN inspection and by appointment only!  Geez...so guess we'll try here in Yerington if we can ever catch the guy!  I met him at the Toyota place and we headed over to Cabela's to pick up his boots he ordered. Perfect fit and they are nice and light.  As we were leaving the Toyota dealer called and said that the truck was done.  The one time we only took the truck we waited hours for it to be done so we always take another vehicle so we can get something done.  So go figure, we headed back over there to pick it up.  Then heading home we were at Carson Valley Inn just about 1300 and had a wonderful lunch as always.  We headed home and the day is done.
Washoe Lake in the background...still nice and full and
surrounded by smoke..

Smoky skies...

Today was the funeral of Deputy French in Sacramento.  There was a huge turnout of law enforcement and civilian. About the time the funeral started there was another officer shooting in the city of Sacramento.  Two Sacramento Police Officers were shot and wounded but thankfully the shooter was killed.  The officers were hospitalized with non threatening injuries.   Thank God!  Seems it's such a dangerous time for law enforcement these days.

The smoke and fires may change our travel plans.  Some of the blogs we follow are saying how smoky it is in Oregon..seems no matter where you go..so we'll see.

  1. so sorry to hear about your allergies I'm like you and don't like taking pills unless I have to. Try to find food fixes instead but for allergies that isn't possible.
Ken is certainly doing amazing at digging! Wow, that is a big trench!

  2. Allergies are no fun, I have been lucky the last dozen or so years, with no more issues. That is a busy project digging that trench, but will be worth it in the long run. Sad to hear about all those shootings.
