Ken's appt was a success! Happy Birthday Seth, Owen and Marines! Special honor for Seth..Veteran's Day 2020...

Thank you to all who have served and are serving! So many in our family to be so
Proud of!!

We left here Monday morning around 0815 or so. Had a lovely drive to Carson City to meet with Dr. Foster, Ken's pulmonary doctor.  I LOVE this guy! He kept looking and looking until finally the exploratory surgery (Thanks to Dr. Halo) last year found the problem of why Ken was having trouble breathing and so many other issues.

Leaving our house headed towards Yerington, NV..
Love the white!
Between Carson City and Gardnerville..
Love the mountains!
Nearing Wilson Canyon...
Gotta love the views!

Because they are connected to the hospital they require masks to see the doctor. I wore my face shield (which he absolutely loved how cute it is).  Ken's other doctors I just wait in the car, Dr. Foster is the exception. He explained to us how the virus is not airborne, that it's contracted by people touching surfaces that have been contaminated and then people touching their own faces etc.

He checked Ken out and from the X-ray we knew all was good. He wants to see Ken in May just to keep up on him. We left there very happy.

We made a quick stop at CAL RANCH where Ken got an extension cord we needed. Stopped at Ross so I could see if I could find a little present for the receptionist in Winnemucca. My last appointment is this month..so a thank you gift was needed for her and my doctor. Walmart was next on the list..yay..haha. Carson City was way too packed so we drove to Gardnerville about 20 miles away. After spending a fortune there, we decided to try Sharkey's once again for linner.  Delicious food and way too much of it! Doggie bag came home with me!

Tuesday morning I texted our grandson, Seth a Happy Birthday wish along with a little $$ in his bank account. Hard to believe he's 19! Owen our great nephew turned 6 and the United States Marine Corps turned 245! We knew from following FB that Russell and friends would definitely be celebrating that birthday last night.

Our Grandson Lance Corporal Seth Kay is the youngest Marine in his battery so he was given the honor of participating in the annual cake cutting of the Marine Corps Birthday Cake! (He's the one in the middle with glasses)..
Now that's a lot of Marines!! That's our Marine..next to the gentleman in the white coat 💙💙

Looks like they had a cake cutting too! LOL...

We've decided to head somewhere for the next few days so we spent it getting the Mansion ready along with other things. Where are we headed, don't know just that we're going!

I called Seth to hear his voice.  Turns out he's at home in Cool, CA for a few days and was having some friends over to celebrate his birthday. Owen called (well, mom Chelsea) so I was able to say Happy Birthday to him and to actually see my sister for a minute. It was very grainy but still..

Owen turned 6 yesterday!!

Ken barbecued some pork, really cold outside (20degrees). He lit the Little Red Campfire, but once he was done we were inside!

Our snow is melting...
Sunset last night!
Nice and toasty!!

I woke Ken about 0500 this morning to visit with our friends and enjoy some coffee and treats. Now to get a move on and see if we can get out of here today!

Today we remember our Veterans! Thank you to all who have served and are serving!

This would have been my mom and dad's 72nd wedding anniversary 💖 My mom was on a ferris wheel in Austria. She looked down and saw my dad and friends. Daddy was laughing (as he always was) and she told her friend, "That's the man I'm going to marry!" The rest is history and on November 11th 1948 they got married in Austria. She wasn't able to come to the states until November 1949 because of the red tape they had back then. He picked her up in New York and took her to Arkansas to meet his family 💙

Escar and Hermine Phillips..November 11, 1948
I love this picture of them..Always smiling...
No wonder she wanted to marry him!! That smile 💙

19 degrees here this am! Have a wonderful day!

  1. I loved all the photos and the good news about Ken's health. The only part I didn't like was the info the doctor gave you about Covid-19 and masks. We walk around following orders like sheep, myself included. I have been looking at the temps in your area. Please find someplace warm!!!

  3. Oh that snow does make for some gorgeous pictures, I just hate driving in it, although the roads seem to be clear. Funny about the masks ... virus is not airborne but on surfaces. Maybe they should promote washing hands more and forget the mask. Love your parents picture!! Brrrrr that's chilly!!

  5. Glad that Ken's appointment went well.
Too many doctors have different ideas about the Virus. Best bet is to protect yourself as best as you can.

  6. Thanks Rick we are happy about it too. We believe in herd immunity and certainly has worked well, as we have lived our lives as we want and with other people who believe the same and haven't been sick a day! Too bad so many people are afraid and believe the media...they are the ones that are suffering not seeing loved ones! Very proud of Seth for sure and enjoying the birthdays. The best love story ever!
