Adam went home on Friday afternoon. Made it safe and sound, thinking he had a good visit while he was here.
Eric and Christina got here about 1130 on Sunday. We had a nice visit, honestly too hot and dry to do too much of anything, but I think they enjoyed relaxing and watching movies with Ken. Kind of a nice rest for him too. The boys enjoyed playing video games and I enjoyed cooking for all of them. I made a ham for the first night and Ken bar b q ued his burgers on Monday (July 4th).
We did go up to the park in town for Yerington's 4th of July in the park. We went the first summer we were here, and Mason won the watermelon eating contest. Now they're all too old to do any of the games, so we weren't there long. Back home to the cool house and a lazy afternoon. In the evening we loaded into the Tundra and headed up the mountain to watch fireworks from town. Nice, not too exciting but still we all enjoyed.
Tuesday morning after breakfast Eric, Christina and Seth left and Mason stayed. We sure enjoyed having them all! Mason and I ran over to Antelope yesterday, picked up Aaron and now they're here till Friday, when i'll make a one day turnaround again and take them home. So the boys are enjoying a lazy day. We thought about going camping for the two days they're here, but they decided they'd rather stay here and "let Grandma spoil them"..Aaron's words..so that's my goal for the next two days! hahaha..
Betty...
We had talked to Cheryl on Monday night and she had said Betty wasn't doing well, she wasn't eating or hadn't gone to the bathroom. So they had planned on taking her in on Tuesday to have her put to sleep. There was no quality of life anymore for the poor girl.
As I was driving home yesterday Adam called and said they had done it and Bryan was burying her as we were speaking. I know it was hard on him. Cheryl had texted and said "that was rough"...
When we got home Ken had talked to Bryan and he said Bryan was doing ok..I was glad, and said.."Well, guess he doesn't want to talk to me, cause I'd be crying"...Later that evening Bryan called and told me about it..we were both crying. He said he hand fed her a hard boiled egg before bed..thinking she probably ate it to make Bryan happy. They took her in at 1200, guess the vet came to the truck, which is good because after the most recent visit to the vet I am sure the last place Betty wanted to be was inside the office. Betty fought it, the sedative took a longer than normal for most, but Bryan said the whole time, she was licking his hand..she was such a sweetie. He said they pronounced her at 1236. Had to be so hard for Bryan and Cheryl. My heart just breaks for them. Betty was a wonderful member of that little family.
I can remember whenever I came into the house, she'd be right there waiting to be petted. If you stopped and she wasn't ready for you to stop, she'd nudge your hand and then eventually lift her paw. Gosh we loved that girl!
Bryan and Cheryl both say they will get another pet, sooner rather than later, and i'm glad to hear that. They all have love to give and there's a lot of animals out there ready to give and receive that love.
