Beautiful sunsets and great days!!

Love our sunsets the last few days! Last night's..

Last night's beginnings of the sunset
Sunday was Father's Day and we were home since camping didn't work out this time.  It was a good day of getting a few things done.  I asked Ken what he wanted for dinner.  His answer was tacos! Real tacos with hamburger meat! Usually we just have chicken or veggie tacos. Ok I can do that.  Then he added he wanted hard shells with flour shells on the outside.  I think Taco Bell calls them double decker tacos. You've got it!
Ken's Father's Day breakfast...what he wanted

Patsy, told you I wanted a sandwich..yummy on almond
flour 90 second bread...a nice treat!

Ken talked to all 3 boys which made him very happy :)  We all know Father's Day, like Mother's Day is mostly a commercial holiday, but it's always nice to hear from your kids!

We invited Karen over for dinner so she came about 1730 and we had happy hour out in the front porch area.  The wind was blowing so this was a perfect place to eat.  Eventually we came in for dinner.  Ken enjoyed his tacos and spanish rice. Leftovers too :)  Karen had been visiting her mom and Izzie sent home some red and green chile verde she had made. YUM!
Father's Day sunset

Monday morning found us up early and after our visiting with blogging friends and coffee we got ourselves ready to head out the door.  I made a quick breakfast for us and then we were gone!  It was a Reno day which is about 90 miles one way.  Winco was the first stop, then Total Wine (of course).  We then headed to Carson City as we still had time before lunch, Tractor Supply, Harbor Freight and Joann's fabrics..the last three were a bust! Oh well, then off to Golden Dragon for a delicious late lunch.  Then we headed home.

Put away the groceries and then watched a little news..again why????? After a bit we started Happy Hour in the living room with the a/c going as it was too hot outside.  Later we headed out for some front porch sitting and then closer to sunset we moved to the back porch.  I know, we shouldn't do that but as Jacob our grandson says "Sometimes I just can't help myself"...

Inside and a little dish of Izzie's chili verde and it was ohhh so good! Plenty left over for another night!

See why we're on the back porch :)

Tuesday morning at about 0300 I woke up and no matter how hard I tried, couldn't go back to sleep! Darn!  So about 0415 I got out of bed and headed for the refrigerator, not for something to eat but to see if I could rearrange it! Yesterday I just kind of stuffed everything in there, but as Ken pointed out, the frig can't breathe that way..ok good point.  So after downsizing some containers etc..it looks much better.
Youngest son, Russell enjoying Father's Day..:)

0500 time for coffee with the hubby.   Decided it's time to get this blog posted once again.  We're headed for Ken's shoulder check up in Carson City this am so better get going.  Have a great day!!

Thought of our friend Patsy while I was at the laundromat! Time at home and getting a few things done.

Thursday morning after posting the last blog around 1000 or so we headed for Gardnerville, a 50+ mile drive to Walmart.  We bought some groceries, but I didn't buy all that I wanted as there is a trip to Winco in the near future and their prices are better than Walmart.
Ken found this old metal pot out back so he repotted my plant
John and Karen gave me.  It was really outgrowing the little
one it was in before! Now it won't have that problem :)

Ken needed a new hat with a wider brim as the sun here is brutal to ears and faces!  Found one he liked at Big 5 and was reasonable priced so SOLD! It was nearing 1300 so where else where would we go? CVI for lunch.  We had Jenn as our server and she's a little sweetie. No sign of Carmen yet :(  A delicious lunch once again.  I always request a turkey burger instead of a regular burger on the dish I always order, but when I cut into it I felt the crunchy cut..oh oh It was a veggie burger  so back it went.   Granted, I used to eat veggie burgers, but no more as the carbs are high and here they deep fry the veggie burger. Kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it!?

We unloaded the car and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon. Eventually it was Happy Hour on the front porch!  Into the house for some tv watching. No dinner needed after the big lunch!
Thursday night's sunset!

Friday morning found us up and enjoying our coffee around 0600.  After breakfast Ken got the weed eater started and did some weed eating around the property.  Some of the stuff we killed with spray, died but never did blow away. I did some laundry and then got a couple of my quilts ready to head for the laundromat in town as they're too heavy for the washer.

Ken has awoken the last couple of days with what look like bites, but we're thinking it's probably poison oak.  So time to wash the sheets and quilts and see if that stops any spread.  Weird.

I drove to the laundromat that I visited probably 6 months ago or so. At that time everything was clean and shiny.  I walked in and boy was I surprised! The place was filthy! 3 huge garbage cans were overflowing, the shiny stainless steel washers and dryers were dirty and lint everywhere! They have a machine where you can buy soap, bleach etc. every single one was empty!! Looked like the laundromat hadn't been cleaned in months.  What happened to pride of ownership? Where are you Patsy! !?

I went ahead and put my quilts in a huge machine, went out to the car for the 25 minutes and back inside to put them in the basket and get the heck out of there!  Guess what?!  I'll never go back and i'll tell anyone who asks not to frequent that one. (Karen actually said the same thing as she went a month ago or so and it was the same way).  Patsy, Jamie is lucky to have you for sure!

Got home and hung them out and on with my day.  Ken was home from his physical therapy so we had our salad lunch about 1300.  After that Ken went next door with our 20 foot trailer to load it up with bricks.  In all the landscaping work they've had done, they've found a huge amount of bricks that they don't want.  Ken spent quite awhile and got quite a haul. What we're going to do with them, I have no idea but sure we'll think of something!
Real Cookies to take next door...haha.

About 1730 we headed next door for a Happy Hour with Karen's daughters and grandkids.  They're leaving Saturday morning to head back to their homes.  I had baked some chocolate chip cookies earlier in the day to take to the kids. They didn't even make it to the back door as Amber and Karen were sitting outside.  STOPPED with Amber! haha. so cute as she loves when I bake for them. She's about 7 months pregnant with baby Amelia and enjoyed some of those cookies, then she took them inside to the kids.

We visited awhile with Karen and then a little later we sat around the fire pit (no fire) and visited with everyone else.  They'll be back in a few weeks for the 4th of July party Karen is planning and then a baby shower on the 6th. After hugs all around  we headed home.
Caught the moon this am as it was getting ready to set

Saturday morning, I'm enjoying a new Pioneer Woman episode so decided to get this blog going.  It's a very warm morning already!

A few and I mean a few of the bricks Ken got from John and Karen

He made the fence wider around the Lilac and added some
bricks to catch the water run off..

This plant is really growing and blooming too :)

A few weeks ago he widened the fence on this Christmas Tree
and it really took off too!
This morning I wrote we would be camping at Washoe Lake State Park for a few days but that plan has changed with the heat.  No hookups there (yet) and generator can only run so long to power a fan.  So we'll just take Monday and run to Reno for errands and then after Ken's check up we'll finish up what we need to do in Carson City :) It all works.

Right now sitting in my kitchen with the a/c running and what looks to be thunderheads coming in! Ken's going to bar b que  chicken for dinner so that should be yummy! Been a good at home day!

Someone's getting some rain!

Same with this one, he widened the fence and it took off..
We use the fencing to keep the critters from eating the
branches

Have a wonderful evening...getting close to Happy Hour time and some front porch sittin!

Happy Birthday in heaven Mom! Home for the last few days

Good morning from Yerington, Nevada!

We had a very nice time at John and Karen's as always.  We really lucked out with our neighbors on both sides!  An extra special treat, as John surprised Karen by showing up unexpectedly so did two of her daughters and grandkids!  Lynzee who lives in southern CA picked up Isabel who lives in Laughlin, NV and surprised Karen! She is one happy momma for a few days!

John bar b qed lots of ribs and pork roast! What a feast! Got ourselves home around 2300.
Love our sunsets when there's clouds involved!

Love the skies too! This was on one side of the house...

Tuesday morning I made a chocolate cake and some spinach dip to take next door.  Ken went out and helped John put up the new/old gate from our property to theirs.  A little concrete will have to be poured before it will be usuable as it's higher off the ground than the "temporary" gate. Concrete will keep their dogs from getting out.  It's in place though and will definitely look nice.

After lunch I headed to the bunkhouse to do some cleaning.  WE had the same problem last year of moths getting in somehow.  I sure don't know how, but it appears they're in and trying to get out through the windows.  Red stuff all over the windows, but nothing that Windex can't take care of for sure! Nice to have air conditioning in there! The outhouse had the same problem so took care of that too.
This was on the other!

Our huge drops for a few minutes..

Ken came in later in the afternoon and pretty much we just vegged as it was too hot to be outside.

We were going to get together with John and Karen to say goodbye, but again too hot.  About 1900 they walked over and we said our see ya laters!

It was supposed to be the day of my kitchen floor being installed, but they called while we were in CA and said it wouldn't be in until the 18th so they'll be here on the 20th.

Wednesday morning we just took our time getting ready as we really had no plans to go anywhere except Ken to physical therapy.

Grandson Adam called so we had a nice chat about work and life. He's enjoying his job for the State Parks but now has added something else to his schooling. He'll be taking a wild land firefighting class in the fall. With the completion of this class he can work for Cal Fire next summer or sooner. He should have his AA degree come the end of the semester. He actually starts physical training in Polluck Pines next week. Good luck Adam!

Ken had his appointment and all is going well! She said he's doing so good that she's going to start him on strengthening a little ahead of schedule! Yay for Ken!

After lunch we ran next door with the cake and dip and dropped it off as we could see the whole gang was there! We said we'd be back later when it cooled off some.

Ken bar b qued a couple of burgers for him and a turkey burger for me. While we outside we were treated to some lightening, thunder and a rain shower or two. I love this time of year when that happens!

Once he was done with the bar b q we headed next door and visited on their back deck for awhile. Again, we were treated to lightening, thunder and rain. Nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy. Reminds me of being back at Don's in TN and enjoying the same. :)
Bar b q and some anaheim chili peppers..yum!

Eventually we headed home and enjoyed those burgers! Karen sent home some macaroni salad Lynzee had made so he really enjoyed that with his burger! I made a couple of low carb chips and a guacamole dip with mine. YUM!

It was a really warm night and this morning we're waking up to 60 degrees at 0515. It's a Walmart day so we'll get ready to head out and see what the day brings!

Happy Birthday to my momma in heaven! Love and miss you every day!

My beautiful mom..not too long after
they were married :)

Have a wonderful day!

Seth's graduation party! We are home again! Thank you Linda and Bobby!

Saturday morning we loaded up Christina's Tahoe with food and decorations to head to my sister's house.  Eric got ice and then headed to Winco to pick up the needed food for the day. Ken drove down in the Tundra.  With tables, chairs, ice chests etc those vehicles were definitely needed.

Christina and I got to Linda's house and started covering tables, putting out chairs and decorating for the party.  We got the things done and people started arriving.  It was a beautiful day and some of the kids went swimming in her beautiful pool.  ( and I didn't get pictures :( ) Eric arrived and we cut the huge sub sandwiches and put out the fried chicken. Buffet style so everyone could eat whenever they wanted.
Lot's of food!

Once we got there a few things along with the left over food were unloaded.  After that Happy Hour at Eric's fire pit. Eric started a nice fire, as it had really cooled off outside. Even though we were tired, ended up staying up until 2330! We said our good nights and off to bed we all went.

Sunday morning we slept in until about 0630.  Had our coffees and visiting with blogging friends online.  Ken jumped in the shower and I headed up to the house to see if Mason wanted grandma to fix breakfast.  Yes, he did.  I fixed him pancakes and an egg sandwich for Eric.  Later as Ken came in I fixed ours.  Christina is on a liquid diet as she's having surgery next week. No breakfast for her :(

Slowly got ourselves ready to head for home.  About 1100 we both headed out. I followed Ken up highway 50 and at Hope Valley he pulled over and we had lunch in the trailer.  Then I headed in front of him as I was stopping by Raley's to pick up his prescriptions.  Then I headed home.

When I got here, he asked how my drive home was? I told him I was so tired I thought I was going to have to pull over and take a quick nap.  He said the same thing happened to him, guess all that hanging out partying with Eric for two nights did us in :)  haha. We only unloaded what was needed for the evening and then relaxed a bit.  Karen had texted and we decided to get together for Happy Hour and we were anxious to see what had been done in her yard since we were gone.  Had a nice visit but not a real long one as we were all tired.

Came home, got some dinner and pretty much called it a night.

This morning we slept in until almost 0630!  I got up at 0600 and started the coffee.  We enjoyed our morning and then time to get things done.  Because it was going to be about 90 degrees today I did a little baking.  Banana bread for Ken and flourless peanut butter cookies.  We have missed our little morning treats. Time to clean the trailer and refrigerator.  Ken kept himself busy all day as did I.  This day went way too quickly!
Picture is red because sun shining through my red and white
kitchen curtains..my breakfast of 90 second almond bread and
egg beater omelet with radishes..oh yummy!

Flourless chocolate chip cookies..yum

We are invited over to Karen and John's for a bar b que. John surprised her by coming home for a day or two before he has to go back to work in CA.  We'll head over there in a bit.

Forgot last week when we went to lunch in Sacramento..YUM! Great prices and great food! Xochimilco's Restaurant!
Ken's super burrito..and it was! Half came home
with him!

Mine..I took the stuffing out of the burrito ate the
salad, rice and beans for hubby for his dinner.

I have to say we had a wonderful 10 days in California but am definitely glad to be home!  Thanks again to my sister Linda and hubby Bobby for once again opening their home to us and everyone for this great party celebrating our Grandson, Seth.  Thank you to all that participated and helped out! Can't thank you enough! Love you all! On to the next adventure!! :)
