Lazy days, Blythe, CA and Happy Hour with our friends!

Ok, so we're here in the desert with really not much to do, but I still get behind?! Well, here goes for catching up!  I see I posted Wednesday about 1130.

It was a beautiful day, so on with the shorts, a lounge chair and a kindle.  Sounds like an awesome afternoon and it was!  We had salad for lunch and then back out to the chair. Yep, my kind of a day!
Caught this pic of Ken the other day, while I was making
lunch he was getting a quick nap..

Elva, this one's for you..This could your group next year!
Or you could visit with my friends..haha..

Then it just gets better! Right about 1500 we headed over to our friends place and another Happy Hour.  It was hosted at George and Suzie's and Tom and Deb were already there.  We were warmly greeted once again and had a wonderful time just talking and catching up.  Bill and Patsy were still with their friends in Ehrenburg. Before we knew it time to head home at about 1715.  Bill and Patsy had just drove up as we were calling it a night.
Suzie, Me, Ken, Tom and Deb..George took the pic..

We watched the news and a few shows. There's enough wood for 1 more night so we thought we'd save it for Thursday night.  Ken had leftover chicken thighs, and I baked (microwaved) a couple of potatoes so and easy night's dinner.
Love these gorgeous sunsets!

We had set the alarm for 0415 on Thursday morning!?  We wanted to get up and get going so we could head for the laundromat in town. Oh joy!  It takes us awhile to get going in the morning, so we headed out the door and got there about 0620. I know 2 hours and I didn't even have a shower yet.  Good thing though it was a hopping place!  Put the clothes in the washer and then got us some gas at Chevron ($2.33 a gallon) good price.  After a bit we loaded them in the dryer and went and sat in the truck.  Got the clothes out and folded and back home we went.  Breakfast made and then I took my shower to really get the day going!
Good morning from the Quartzsite laundromat!

We headed for Blythe, CA only a little over 20 miles from here and headed for the Smart and Final Extra! Beautiful veggies and great prices on everything else.  Even my box of Franzia wine was only $12.99.  Our Scolari's is $17.99 so it was a bargain.  $100.00 + and we were out the door.
Going through Q

Still busy but nothing like when we came in on Monday

On the way to Blythe, not bad..
We did find that gas was $3.39 a gallon in Blythe compared to just 20 miles away in AZ where we paid $2.33..WOW!

Originally we had thought that we would do all this and still have time to throw together some tuna sandwiches and head for Palm Canyon for a picnic..uhh no..that didn't happen! We didn't even get home until after 1300...see what I mean, the day is gone!

Unloaded the truck, made up more salad for lunch and then we went outside.  The wind was blowing, but it was warm, probably 72 or so.  Leaned back in my chair and talked with Ken.  He was thinking because of the wind our friends would not be outside, but I told him they were tough and I bet they are.  So he says, "Ok we'll head over then at 3" I told him it was already after 3, what?!  He forgot his watch is on NV time so off we went.  Sure enough they were outside and Suzie greeted us with "Were your ears burning?" ...They had just been wondering if we were coming..Nice!  ( I keep forgetting my camera, so i'll be stealing Happy Hour photos from other blogs)...
Ken, Tom, Patsy, Bill, Suzie, Deb and me..
I'm going to have to steal a pic with George in it...

Everyone was there yesterday so we visited in the wind until 1700.  I wore my shorts, as it was warm but wore my Arkansas jacket and went between having it on and taking it off, at one point Patsy went into her rig and came out with a jacket to put on my legs. She thought I was cold and needed it Thanks, Patsy!  Today will be a jeans day as it's supposed to be cooler.

Made some tacos for a quick dinner, a little tv, no fire as the winds were rocking the trailer when we went to bed.  I love that!
Beautiful sunset, once again!

Good night...

0300 and I'm wide awake, so at 0400 decided there's no point in trying to sleep, so why not work on the blog..I see my phone is set for 0500 and I think Ken said something about going for a hike up Q mountain..hmmm..not sure I remember agreeing to that so we'll see in a bit.

Well, apparently I agreed to climb Q mountain with Ken this am..or so he says...so better get to checking blogs and having some coffee!

These days are going so fast..1 more Happy Hour, Bloggerfest tomorrow and then Sunday we'll leave for Yuma for a few days.

Have a wonderful day!  I know we will!

Meeting blogging friends face to face!! What a wonderful day!

Yesterday (Tuesday) was a great laid back day.  Spent part of the morning cleaning and getting ready and then enjoyed the day watching all these RVs go by!  Very busy here, but still amazingly quiet.

We had our salad lunch and then I put my shorts on and enjoyed reading out in the warm Arizona sun!

At 1500 we headed over to Happy Hour down the road a bit.  Tom and Deb's (Celebrating the Dance) Stinger B let us know where the party was! We were greeted warmly and hugs all around.  (my kind of people)..Yesterday morning we met Patsy (Chillin' with Patsy) and then met her other half, Bill. (On Our Way
George and Suzie were there too (Our Awesome Travels) it has been two years since we've seen them.  Tom and Deb we hadn't met before but I have to say it's like we all have known each other for long time.   We had good flowing conversation between us all and it was just so nice.

This blogging world really brings people together and we love that!
Stole this one from George..:)
From left, Tom, Deb, me, Patsy, Bill, Ken and Suzie

George front and center, Tom, Deb, Patsy, Bill, Ken and Suzie..
Stinger B in background, that's alerted us to their camp!

We left there at about 1700 as it was time for everybody to get started on dinner.  We were invited back for today, so we'll go back about 1500 again. :)

We came home and later Ken started a fire and we watched the beautiful sunset and marveled at this wonderful life we have.  Ken bar b q ed some chicken thighs and a veggie burger for me. I made baked potatoes and some veggies to go with and it was an awesome dinner.

Not sure when we called it a night but about 0200 I was awake again, tossing and turning and whenever I fell back to sleep made us sleep in and we could see daylight!  It was 0715!! ahhhhh....So we got up did our usual coffee, checking in with our friends and no breakfast until almost 1000!  While sitting here in the trailer we saw Black Beauty go by with Patsy and Bill waving at us!  They're headed out for the day to meet up with some friends.

Have a wonderful day!

Great nephew Owen, loves Minnie Mouse..:)

We're here at La Posa South! A special visitor stops by!

Set the alarm yesterday morning (Monday) so we would get up and going (0500).  Did our usual coffee and visiting with blogging friends.  Ken took a shower and got ready then he headed to Walmart in Parker to pick up a few things we needed.  That Walmart is always packed so figured get a jump on early in the am.

While he was gone I took my shower etc and then got ready and cleaned up the trailer.  He got gas and headed back home.  Breakfast was made and then we hooked up, dumped and left.  1100 we were on the road. Yep, takes us that long to get done. Good thing we only had 40+ miles to go.

Beautiful drive and then as expected the closer you get to Quartzsite the more traffic.  So, you just get your mind right, and watch the traffic and people and enjoy.  We headed for La Posa South and here we are.  We were actually able to get the same site we had last year.  We're on the main road, across from a Monaco convention.  So many RV's and so little noise..amazing.
Some Quartzsite traffic...

After we got here and got set up we headed down the road to check out the dumpsters and dump station.  All cleaned up  and people were dumping.  The sign at the entrance said all services were cancelled due to the government shutdown but that wasn't the case (later we heard the government came up with a 3 week budget)..Then we headed further down the road looking for the camp we know 3 of our blogging friends are at together.  We found it!  The Stinger B jumped right out at us!  We could see most of the vehicles were gone except for Tom and Deb's and it was a little early for happy hour, so we figured they were out somewhere.
Near the big tent..

We came back to camp and the sun was shining nice and bright, I put on some shorts, grabbed my easy chair and my kindle.  I'm set.  A little while later Ken was in the trailer and he said "I think that's Black Beauty going home"..I got up and I'm certain it was..
Amazing and so quiet..

Our home away from home...

Before dark Ken started a fire in the fire pit he made (Kept him busy for a few minutes)..had a lovely fire and a beautiful sunset.

Our oldest son, Bryan called last night so we talked awhile. Then he sent me pictures of his lovely dinner..He is a good bar b quer!

Ribs! YUM!

Dinner was simple hot dogs and a cheeseburger for him.  I made some oven fries and then we called it a night about 2200.

Slept in after a night of dreaming until 0630..and we are greeted by a beautiful morning!  Here I sit at 0830 typing away..Life is great gotta say! Made some breakfast scrambled eggs with mushroom and cheese for Ken and cereal for me.

After my shower I was cleaning up the kitchen and saw a shadow come across the trailer...saw it was Patsy!  coming to say hello!  We were happy to meet her in person and like she said we feel like we already know each other from the blogs.  We visited a bit and then said we'd be over there for happy hour later today.  She is just as cute as you could imagine, just like her blog! Chillin' with Patsy. Thanks for stopping in!!

We took about a 1 mile walk to the dumpsters and back and now I wanted to get this done and get on with the day at noon!!

Have a great day!

Dusty, Goofy, Chelsea and Owen having
a great time at Disneyland..better them

Lake Havasu, a cool day and a nice drive..

Yesterday (Saturday) we headed for Lake Havasu leaving here about 1030 or so.  Because of the lack of a good signal here at La Paz I was able to post the blog from in front of the laundromat there.  What else are you gonna do while waiting for clothes to wash and dry?!
Boondockers on the way to Lake Havasu

Lake Havasu...

Bill Williams Wildlife Area ..so pretty..

Once that chore was done we headed for O Reillys to get a suction thing for the water bucket.  Technical I know..but anyway he was able to get it. (and it works)!

Looking for a US Bank for Ken to get some $$ but apparently Lake Havasu doesn't like that bank as they're all closed.  Oh well, then it was lunch time so Ken looked for a nice parking spot to have our sandwiches we brought.  Well, that was difficult so we ended up in the Walmart parking lot which was our last stop.  Sandwiches hit the spot and then into the store.  Spent some $$ and then headed over to Hangar 24 a brewery at the little airport.  It was around 1430 when we headed there, walked in and walked out! It was so crowded, so we'll check it out another time.

We headed back to camp and enjoyed the evening. Ken bar b qued some pork chops we had been marinating in italian dressing for a few days and they turned out awesome.  He got out the little campfire and we enjoyed that until the winds were up.  So we called it a night.
His new gadget to put water into the trailer..works awesome!

Pork, potato and broccoli ..so good!

Both of us were up at 0500 this morning so started the coffee and enjoyed visiting with our blogging friends.  After showers and breakfast, we took a walk in the wind and decided to take a drive, either that or stay in the trailer. We headed to Parker, crossed into CA and made the drive up to Parker Dam. We've done this a few times, but a nice drive anyway.

This afternoon the winds and temps kept us inside and we watched one of my favorite movies, Overboard with Kurt Russell, (be still my teenage heart) and Goldie Hawn.  I can't tell you how many times i've watched it, but still tear up at the end.  We also saw some old cowboy movie that Ken got in a group of 4 for like $5.00 at Walmart.  But it wasn't bad. Once Upon A Texas Train, had a lot of older cowboy stars, Willie Nelson, Chuck Connors and more. Filmed in Mescal, AZ.

We played a game, CLUE that I bought cheaply at Christmas.  A little confusing for us, but it was ok.  Then time for dinner, which was delicious leftovers. Nice and easy!

Tomorrow we move on, headed towards Quartzsite.  We'll see how that all goes with the government being shut down, but we'll deal.

Have a great evening..Pictures from today will have to wait as the internet signal isn't the greatest..

My Great Nephew Owen and Donald Duck at
Disneyland..kinda thinks he likes Donald..:))

Happy Birthday Wendy and Christina! Dry camping at La Paz County Park..

Well, here it is Saturday morning and I'm going to try and catch up as it's at the 2 day marker where I forget what we've done..haha..

We left Lake Mead around 1030 and headed for Parker.  Had a beautiful drive up and over the mountains to Kingman, AZ.  That little town was packed with people.  We were going to pull into the truck stop, but decided against it as there were way too many trucks and vehicles everywhere.  So we motored on, until the rest stop.  Not much of one as the restrooms were closed and same on the other side of the freeway.  Now that's a real bummer for people driving across the state without their own bathrooms with them.  Too bad.
Near Hoover Dam

An old Whiting Brothers along I 40..remember those when
we were kids..

Pulled off the highway at exit 9 I believe.  That intersection is always packed.  We usually like the Chevron there but gas was 30 cents a gallon more, guess that's why no one was there.  We went across the street to the Love's Travel Stop and filled up.  Too crowded there to park with the trailer so we went back across the road to park and have some lunch.

We headed on down the road to Lake Havasu and just north of the airport we pulled into a road that we followed back for about a mile.  Ken had been talking with a nice gentleman at Lake Mead and he told him about this boon docking spot.  It's actually Craggy Wash Campground, free for 14 days.  It was just too crowded and very dry looking.  We moved on.
The boon docking place we checked out..too crowded..

Bill Williams Wildlife Refuge

There's an American Flag flying on top of that mountain..

La Paz County Park in Parker,AZ.  We like this park, but know it's really crowded and we probably wouldn't get a good site.  We're ok with where we are, dry camping was all they had left.  We drove to the area and found us a nice spot.  We have access to the restrooms, showers and anything else they have to offer.  Our spot is certainly much larger than some of the hookup areas.
Our sunset at Parker, AZ

Lazy Daze Rally here...

Our site..

After we were settled, we headed over to the resort next door and their outside bar. On Thursdays they have happy hour and karaoke from 1500 to 1800.  Got ourselves a drink and settled in.  It was pretty close to 1800 when we got there so the karaoke didn't last too long. The sunset was awesome from where we were sitting.
Nice place next door..

Back to camp and Ken bar b qued some awesome burgers for dinner.
Burgers and oven baked fries..

Friday morning it was late when we got up.  Got to get used to this Arizona time. Checked in with our friends,. and got ourselves ready for the day.  We'd already decided on a light breakfast and lunch at 1300 over at the Roadrunner Bar and Grill at the edge of this campground.

Actually got ourselves a little exercise and walked the campground.  We headed towards the river and just kept going.  After we got back we loaded up the truck with our chairs and ice chest and headed over to day use. After about 20 mins or so it was 1300 so LUNCH!
Ken had their cheeseburger and fries and I had the veggie burger and fries.  It was awesome, way too many fries to finish but they were so good!
Thinking about a bike ride..we walked instead..

Time to get my tan on...

The Colorado is so beautiful here!

At the resort next door..some of the cabanas are so cute
but this was my favorite!

Looking across to California..
Looking out the Roadrunner

Inside waiting for our food...

Love how they brand the buns..

Ken bumping fists with Wylie Coyote..

Elva, this one's for you...where are you?!

Fun on the river

Another gorgeous sunset!

Out to our chairs for a couple of hours just enjoying the sun and the river. Not too many boats out yet, but like watching.  Back to camp and over to the Pirates Den again for a drink during happy hour.  Just because we can...

Dinner was simple because of huge lunch.  Ken bar b qued a few hot dogs and that was that.  He pulled out our propane fire place and we sat outside till who knows when (actually it was pretty early) but we were tired from our terribly busy day!
Our Little Red Campfire..doing its magic!

Waking up on Saturday morning decided to get this going or I'd probably not have time.  We're going to head up to Lake Havasu today, I know it's Saturday and the balloon festival is going on but what the heck?! Of course the wind is going to interfere with that going on I'm afraid.  We had thought we'd be leaving and heading for Quartzite today but decided with the big tent going on we'd wait another couple of days before heading that way.

Yesterday two very special people celebrated a birthday!  My younger (by 13 months) sister Wendy turned 61...gosh that's hard to believe!  Happy Birthday Wendy!
Happy Birthday Wendy..the little blonde on the left...

Our Daughter in Law Christina, celebrated her 41st Birthday!  Not sure what she did after work, I called but only got a message.  Hopefully Eric and the grandsons did something fun for her.

Have a wonderful day!
