Steve and Candy visit, A slow drive over the mountain, visiting kids, Foothills Hotel Auburn, CA..

Bryan and Cheryl went by to see Grandma (Ken's mom) this
week..💖💖

It's Friday and we're at the Foothills Motel in Auburn, CA.  Really cute 50's motel that is in the process of being remodeled. We didn't make reservations until we got over the mountain, in case we didn't.

Doug, this one's for you! 💙

We had company for Tuesday night. Steve and Candy came, we visited and had a nice dinner. John and Karen came to spend some time too! It was a good night! Too short of a visit, but hopefully in the spring or summer they can come back to do some riding. Wednesday they  headed for Steve's  mom and dad's winter place outside of Yuma.

Steve and Candy getting ready to head to AZ! 💙

Bye you two! Come again!

I woke up at 0400 this morning to do a little upkeep, then got Ken up at 0430. Power went out at 0500 from an accident so a lot of flashlights were used. We were leaving so didn't want to set out the generator. We left, went to town and discovered we forgot medications and vitamins.  Headed back home to get them. So we were on the road about 0900.

Beautiful drive going Highway 88 to 89 to 50. Snow, snow, snow! A beautiful drive over the mountain. 4 wheel drive and slow, but gorgeous! A perfect winter wonderland. 😀

Such a beautiful drive!

There were alot of people going both ways who just "had to"
make the trip...LOL..

Christmas Valley

Highway 89..

Highway 88..

We got to Bryan's house about 1330 or so. Visited with him, Cheryl, Adam and Erin for a bit.  Bryan mad me a delicious white russian drink. Haven't had one in forever but it was yummy!  Left their gifts there before we left.

We left there and headed for Eric's house, so visited and dropped off their gifts.  We're planning on seeing them all before we head to my sister's house tomorrow. We like to see what Santa brought them. 😀

After that visit we headed for Auburn and the Foothills Motel, where we are now. Thinking this will be our "go to" when we're in town. Very nice!

                                                                           This morning's sunrise
Yep, we've got wind!

We told John and Karen we were looking for a coat rack..They made us one for our
Christmas gift! It's amazing! Railroad spikes, old barn wood and metal! Can't wait to see it up on the wall!!

Karen found this piece of metal, had John shape it into a heart 💗

The top which is also a shelf..I'm so in love with this gift! 💙

A few of Christmas's past that I stole from my sister's posting LOL.

Grandma's 94th Birthday, A new pillow, Seeing Joanie, A wonderful surprise meeting on Sunday! The long way home :)

Happy 94th Grandma!!
Dave, Diane, Ken, Grandma! 3 of her 4 children..

Saturday morning we left here around 0700 heading for California to celebrate Ken's mother's 94th birthday!  We had a few stops to make before we got to her house.

Santa left a few gifts at our house to be distributed 🎅

Pogo Nip! So beautiful!

Our Russian Olive with Pogo Nip..covered in ice..in the sunlight looks like diamonds

We got to Russell's house around 1100 or so. He and Lori were home so we had a nice visit.  We dropped off gifts that Santa left at our house for them.  One less stop Christmas Eve.

Russell had a double sided pillow made for me with my favorite picture of
Jacob and Allissa 💗 His favorite too!

Once we left there we headed to our friend Joanie's house.  Again Santa left some presents for her great grandkids at our house.  I worked with Joanie from November 1993 when we opened the Sheriff's Service Center until close to the day I retired. She's 98 and doing awesome.  She still lives by herself and definitely takes care of things. Her house was decorated inside so cute :)  She's a special friend and she loves Ken! She loves me too, but I think she loves him more LOL. I really wish I'd get over there and see her more than once a year, going to work on that! It was a quick visit but we wanted to be at Grandma's around 1230 or so.

Joanie and Ken 💙 98 and going strong!!

We visited with Grandma for a bit before Diane got there and then Dave and Emmy showed up too.  We had a few snacks I brought over and it was really nice visiting with everyone until about 1630 when it was time to get going.  We got a room in Auburn, and as we've said before really don't like driving when it's too dark.

Got to the room and got comfy. I had made some sandwiches at home, as we really don't go out to dinner.  There's a Jimboy's across the street but decided to have our own food. HAHAH.  Grandma called and said we left an ice chest that had sandwiches in it...OH.  I'm hoping she'll enjoy the sandwiches..Ken's was especially good as it was on REAL bread. Mine was on the Keto bread (3 carbs a slice).

We had some salami and cheese left over so that was dinner. It worked, but not what we planned on.  This same hotel we planned on Jimboy's a few years ago when we stayed Christmas Eve. Went to get dinner and they were closed. DUH Christmas Eve!  I had some appetizers in the back of the car for Christmas day so we had those..LOL.

This morning we got up and got ourselves going and got to Edelweiss Restaurant#2 in Auburn, CA.  Ken was in the hallway talking to our friend Steve (who was supposed to come visit for the night) and I saw a man get out of his truck. I recognized him from FB so I knew who'd be with him.  I knocked on the window and pointed.  Ken got a big hug from Lisa! 😊💖 She came inside and we hugged so hard and so many times.  Oh my heart! 💗

I hate my pictures, but Lisa looked so cute I had to post it
She hasn't changed since high school!

Lisa was a friend to our boys when they were teenagers. She graduated the same year as Bryan. (1991).  I haven't seen her since then. We are friends on FB and I met her daughters last December when I went to pick up some gifts her daughter, Zoey made. She wasn't home at that time.

It was like nothing had changed over the years.  The boys had some great friends, both male and female.  She was always one of the special ones in my book, Ken's too 💖

Her hubby was celebrating his 57th birthday today. He's a sweetie too (and a great smile) along with some pretty great kids! We finished our meal and she came over to visit a bit more.

When we asked our server for the bill she said, "Someone already paid it" 💗  We knew who the "someone" was. We went over to thank them and got some more hugs before we left. Hopefully we can get together for a better visit soon! 💕

The Birthday boy, Paul! Never met him before, but felt like already knew
him from Facebook, which is why I like FB!

We said our goodbyes with hugs and then we headed home (the long way) and her family was heading to the snow for some play time.

We started heading towards 50 when Ken asked how far to go highway 49 to 88. About 40 miles longer. Well, we didn't have company coming this afternoon so why not?! We love to support big oil...hahah. It definitely was slower, but oh so beautiful. We've done this ride several times but not in a few years.

We drove through the little towns on 49..

Sutter Creek sure brought back memories of going with my sisters and my mom every Christmas season. We'd window shop and then have a nice lunch before heading back home! Miss you mom! 💖

Homes along the main drag! Love them..Elva I know you love these too!!

                                                 Highway 88

Cal Dor Fire... :(

Beautiful no matter what time of year! Silver Lake area

Caples Lake CA frozen but very lightly..

I started this last night (Sunday) but then we got a picture of a fire next door so off we headed :) John is home for the next two weeks so he wanted to have a fire and company.  It was so cold out though!

Better get this day going as we've got company coming for the night.  Steve and Candy will be here this afternoon on their way to Arizona for Christmas and New Years.

Have a great day everyone!

My birthday, Fallon, NV, Reno and Gardnerville...are we done shopping yet!!??

Monday the 13th, I woke up to a beautiful day and my 66th birthday (ouch) How can that be?!  I had calls from all my sons and more.  We have special friends that now live in Florida and they called in the afternoon :). It was certainly a great day! 💖

After having breakfast and taking our time we headed to Fallon, NV a little over an hour from here. I wanted to check out a couple of antique/collectible stores there. The first one was new to us but didn't see anything that jumped out at us. The next one was Just Country Friends, we've been there several times and usually come out with something. We did, a gift for Karen that I know she'll like.

A quick stop at Big R and then to Stockman's Casino.  No, not to play slots, but to have a late lunch. They have a good restaurant, but sure took a long time to get the food. One young lady cooking in the back. Oh well, it's shortages everywhere. Here in town they've adjusted their hours because they are always short of servers and cooks. Really sad.

After that we came home and later headed next door to Karen's. She had a good spread of appetizers for us.  We visited and then decorated her Christmas tree. John is still working in CA and won't be home until Sunday or so. Had a really nice time. Ate way too much food and she sent home some cake with us.

Karen made up this delicious spread for just the 3 of us...💖

A delicious bottle of wine from Italy 💙🍷

Happy Birthday flags..they do spoil us 😊

Tuesday was a stay at home day. Wrapped some more gifts, made a list of what is still needed for Christmas.  Later in the afternoon Ken barbecued some burgers and chicken, so as is tradition i headed outside to sit with him.

We had a propane fire as it was too windy to have a regular one. Later Karen came over and visited for a bit. We sent home a burger and chicken with her :)

Wednesday morning we got ourselves going and headed for Reno about an hour and half from here as we had Total Wine order to pick up. Then to Ross in Reno so I could finish shopping. Are we really ever finished?!! One of those stores where you can't take the carts out so I texted Ken to come help me...haha. Not his favorite store so he waits in the car patiently, thank goodness for smart phones!

We've had some interesting weather this week..but no
snow :(

Heading towards Gardnerville

On the way to Carson City

Just love it when the mountains are all white!

We were going by Walmart to do some food shopping but in Carson City way too crowded so we put that off a day.  About 1400 hours so time to go by Betsy's for dinner. YUMMY!

After getting home started the blog, but the bad influence put on a Christmas movie so that got put off until now.

Today, Thursday we got out of here about 0800 heading to Gardnerville for Walmart. 56 miles one way. Now we have food LOL.  After that we headed to Carson Valley Inn for a late breakfast. They're about the only restaurant I can get a turkey burger so opted for that. YUM! Ken went traditional with chicken fried steak and eggs.

We headed for Carson City because I remembered we wanted to pick up one more thing. Luckily they had it, an even better one for just a bit more.

We got home about 1400 hrs. Time to get this finished before any more distractions.

Speaking of distractions the bad influence just called from Karen's and said "Happy Hour" We're headed next door! Enjoy  your evening!
