Company is coming! Getting things ready. Couple of Can Am rides just because! Just enjoying the days :)

 Well here we are again, it's been almost a week since the last post! Luckily since I can't remember that far back this should be quick..hahah. 

We've been on a couple of Side by Side rides into our surrounding desert. One out to Pumpkin Hollow, just about 8 miles so that makes it about 21 to the campground on the back roads. Then we headed out to find a road, nope didn't find it so we headed out from home the next day to find it again. We did. Seems to me once we're out there lots of the roads look the same. Ken always finds our way back. LOL.

We made a drive to Fernley one morning to visit Lowe's quickly and then to Pioneer Crossing for breakfast. Food was delicious, service wasn't! Oh well. 

Most of this week we've been working on getting ready for company come Friday! Nephew Dusty and his family are coming out along with our nephew Jesse! Adam was supposed to be coming, but turns out he had asked for the wrong weekend off..darn. 

Ken has worked hard getting the toilet, sink and new faucet into the Komfort fifth wheel and all is good now! The cold water on the shower doesn't work, as there is a leak. Everything else does and we have two bathrooms in the house. Nice to have it back in working order since he spent a lot of time and $$ getting it hooked into our septic system a few years back. 

I ordered a new refrigerator for the bunk house, Ken got it in and working so everything is looking good.

Ken cut the cabinet to fit..I'm going to have to repaint the cabinet once I figure out what color...any suggestions? Love this retro look of the fridge.

This morning (Wed) Ken and I went to breakfast in town at Dini's.  After that I left and headed to the Gardnerville Walmart to buy stuff for this weekend. I ended up taking the groceries out to the car and then going back inside to get other stuff than groceries. Then I headed home. Tomorrow will be a cooking day and getting ready for Friday's company! Can't wait to see Little Owen and Cassidy! It's been too long. The parents and Jesse too! Looking forward to a wonderful weekend! 

Earlier this week I made some PB fit cookies OMG! Awful! hahaha..They went into the garbage. When they first came out of the oven Ken had 2 and said they were good. NOT!  The next morning they were horrible..like cardboard. 

They looked okay..but oh they were horrible.  

This afternoon I made almond flour butterscotch cookies for Ken's treats. They turned out awesome!

126 miles in 2 days..Quick visit from Adam..Home!

Tuesday morning we were up and about fairly early but we weren't ready to leave the campground for our ride until our regular 1100 hour. haha. WE had breakfast at 1000 so we knew we didn't need to take lunch with us.  A couple of water bottles and we were good to go. 

We decided to first head out to the Pumpkin Hollow Mine and see how far that was from the park.  We ride out there all the time from home and it's not far.  Bottom line it's only 13 miles from the park along the huge power line road. We turned around there and then headed out the south end of the park to the road to Aurora and Sweetwater Canyon.  We've been on the road before but not with the Can Am. It was a great ride, but we never did make it to the roads we were looking for as we weren't able to carry extra gas since we had the spare tire in the cargo area. Next time!

Still a great drive! I love driving that thing! In the end of the two days we put 126 miles on it! 113 on Tuesday. 

We got back to camp nearing 1630 and a little later I got a text from Adam asking if we were home.  On one of his days off he took a drive Sonora way and was about an hour from us.  A little later he joined us at camp.  He visited until about 1930 and then decided to head home rather than spend the night. Nice we got to see him for a bit!

We had our dinner and enjoyed a nice fire before calling it quits for the night. 

Wednesday morning we took our time getting ready and having breakfast. The park has nice showers available so we took advantage of those every day. No coins required and perfect temperature water! The toy hauler has a wet bath if needed, but the park showers were definitely better!

We had a late breakfast and left there at exactly 1100.  36 minutes we were back home. Good thing as the front porch looked like Christmas deliveries! The new toilet and faucet for the Komfort were there.  The  bumper for the Can Am along with a couple of other items. 

I unloaded the food and clothing while Ken dumped the toy hauler. Looks like there's a problem in the bathroom with the toilet leaking somewhere, I'm sure he'll figure it out :) 

I did some baking. Ken mentioned I made good chocolate chip cookies maybe there's a recipe for almond flour.  There was and they turned out yummy! No sugar added and they're really good.  Peanut butter flourless muffins too.

I had some good asparagus and mushrooms so I decided a ground turkey meatloaf would compliment nicely. Cooked it up in the afternoon so a quick microwave heating was all it would take. 

After Ken came in about 1700 we went outside for Happy Hour.  I texted Karen and she came over for a bit so of course we had to have a fire. Nice evening.  

This morning (Thursday) not sure what's on my agenda but Ken's got work cut out for him LOL..

Spare tire is on! I don't know why the tire looks so big..but it's the same

size as the tires ...LOL.

Ken spent the day working on the Can Am getting the spare tire on, cleaning it up and cleaning filters. I worked in the house doing general stuff..nothing exciting. A good day to be home. Tomorrow we are heading for Reno and Total Wine for a pick up. Ken's eye drops in Gardnerville and before you know it that day will be done.

Walker River State Recreation Area for a few days!

 Sunday night we were talking and Ken said let's go camping for a few days. Ok

where? Let's take the toy hauler and Can Am and go to Berlin Ichtysaur State Park. Only about 115 miles away. Monday, Tuesday and come back Wed as we're expecting some deliveries. Ok..

Monday morning we're getting things ready and Ken brought up going to Walker River State Recreation Area.  That's only about 40 minutes from our house. Even better! As it was we didn't' get to the park until 1400.  We were both glad we made this decision.  

Found a site, no problem. They have two different campgrounds. One has electric and water which would cost us $10.00 a night with Ken's senior state pass.  The sites are huge! The other campground is free to us as it has no hookups. Ok Free it is. There are only 2 other campers here right now. I'm thinking it's different on the weekends. 

We settled in, enjoyed a late lunch and then got ready for a ride. Tuesday will be the long ride.

After the ride we enjoyed our happy hour together and later Ken barbecued some awesome burgers and we enjoyed a nice fire.

Waking up to a cold (40degrees) this Wednesday morning. Heading for 85 so not too bad. Time for showers and breakfast so we can get this day on the road :)

Thursday I was working in the 5th wheel when Ken came over and said, "Let's go on vacation" Of course I said ok, but we don't have much time.  He laughed and said "You're supposed to say we can't we have to take the Mansion in to fix the water heater"..oh didn't think of that.  Well, he fixed it! YAY..I hate having to take it in, you never know when you're going to get it back. He blew the line out with the air compressor and it's firing up now just like it should. Had crap in the line!

We were looking for a flag holder for the CanAM..basically $35.00 for the same thing Ken just made..

Later in the day when it was too hot to be outside we both got online and did a little shopping. We ordered the spare tire carrier for the Can AM.  Something that's definitely needed to free up the cargo area.  I ordered a couple of rugs for the fifth wheel and a new autumn quilt, just because.  A few other things too. 

Friday was another stay at home day.  I can't believe I've been able to avoid Raley's for so long..lol. Ken talked with Eric later in the evening and I had a nice conversation with Christina at basically the same time.  After that we went out back and had a nice fire. 

My new Back the Blue T-shirt ..Had it a few weeks but it needed a good shortening for me to be able to wear it...

Christina told me that our Marine grandson got promoted to Lance Corporal that morning. I texted him to say Congratulations and he said he's already working on promoting to Corporal. 😊😊

We had the alarm set for Saturday morning as we were heading to Washoe Valley to pick up a cord of almond wood from our wood guy, Sammy. The trailer was really packed and bulging at the sides! Can't say we don't get our moneys worth there. After leaving there we headed to Walmart for some grocery shopping. 

Adam called just as I was walking in. He had just taken the Ranger written test in Galt, CA. Sounds like it went well, he'll hear in about 30 days. It's a POST (Peace Officers Standards and Training) academy so keeping our fingers crossed that he gets in as this is what he REALLY wants to do as a career. It wouldn't start until next September. 

Then it was about 1230 so we headed for Betsy's Big Kitchen.  We had a couple of minute wait so we went outside and until the little beeper beeped about 2 minutes later.  Food and service were awesome as always. Our favorite server was there so she came and talked with us. I couldn't resist even though I don't wear them often, but she had the cutest face shield (hard to believe I can say that)..she said she thought of me when she was making it but it was a hard decision for her to sell it..but she did. 😊

Time to head home and get groceries put away.

John came home for the evening, so when he texted a picture of a fire we headed over :) While I was there grandson, Mason called so we had a nice chat. He's happy to be heading back to 10th grade on Monday, even though they have to wear masks for now. 

After a couple of hours we headed home. 

This morning (Sunday) we awoke near 0600 and had our coffees and treats in bed catching up on our blogging friends. After breakfast I asked Ken what he'd like for dinner? He said pizza sounds good. Funny just that morning I was thinking the same thing!  I bought 3 huge zucchini yesterday.  Ok, I know what I'm doing for part of the day.  Got the crust done and all the toppings sliced so later today we'll just put it together.  Feels like a guilty treat, but with the zucchini crust it's so good and no flour involved! Yum can't wait for dinner ...haha. 

Karen was talking about a bar b q today, we won't eat but will go to see the family. I made upside ice cream cone cupcakes to take over. 

Ken attempted to put the spare tire carrier on the can am but turns out we didn't notice we needed to order a bumper whoops..so I got online and ordered one. These toys aren't cheap..sorry kids..we're spending more of your inheritance 😉

Ken's out back taking the wood from the trailer and putting it where he keeps the wood. Looks like we're pretty well set for the winter!
