Woke up in Boomtown...now we're home!

Had a nice night, went to dinner at the buffet and had a great salad bar.  They also had ham, roast beef, chicken and lots of Chinese Food..so needless to say by the time we went back to the room we were stuffed...but would do it again.

Woke up early this am, had our coffee and computing and got ready to leave..we were out of there a little after 0800..headed for Sam's Club, Whole Foods (for beer as it was on sale for 20% off)..Lowe's and Marshalls.  Stopped in Gardnerville at Walmart and picked  up a few groceries. Got back to Yerington about 1330 and decided to hit Pioneer Casino for a late lunch.  Ken had their turkey sandwich and fries and I had their 1 trip salad bar..yummy all the way around.  Got home and not much has been done since..but that's what tomorrow's for right?!

Ken's loot from Whole Foods..

The view out our room this am...snow!

Another view

Mountains (where) in Minden, NV

The view from Walmart in Gardnerville, NV..love it!

Had to have a fire as it's cold and cloudy, can see it rained a bit while we were gone.

So onto the weekend and then Monday I will head to Grandma's and Tuesday we'll hit the skies to New York.  Amazing how time flies!

We're in Boomtown for the night!

Spent Tuesday and Wednesday at home doing things that needed to be done!  Got the cabover cleaned, drained and moved.  Had some awesome wind events and just generally enjoyed being home.

Yesterday we spent a few hours putting pictures up in the hallway.  We got it done a bit ago but hadn't put any pictures up.  So yesterday that was our goal.  Looks so much better!  I found I have millions of pictures of grandkids and family on my computer so I left a center area of the hallway clear and plan on getting pictures made to put on the wall.  I have lots of the grandkids when they were little but not many of them older.

The hallway...the center is for updated pics of grandkids and family

So, I have a flash drive I've had for years, plugged it in and thought ok, this can't be too hard, really?!  So I played with it awhile and couldn't figure it out.  uhhhhhhh....try again later today.

Got up this am and we headed out.  Went to Dini's Casino in town and had breakfast...ohh so yummy!  During the week they have a special of 2 eggs, homefries YUM..2 pieces of bacon or sausage and toast all for $2.99...yummm....I wanted to do a little shopping before the trip next week..I hate shopping so put it off as long as possible.  Got a few things and tonight we have our $14.99 room at Boomtown.  Tomorrow we'll do a little more shopping and then head home.  Right now watching the weather change to probably snow on the mountain...As long as I can get over the hill on Monday, all that matters!

A great weekend! Adam's Birthday Party and Mother's Day

The night before we left we had an awesome storm!  The news said there was a funnel cloud reported in Yerington.  Never have we had such wild weather as this!

Before the storm..Friday night

Saturday morning Sunrise...

We left Yerington on Saturday about 0545 and headed towards Georgetown. After a couple of stops we made it there at about 0945...not too bad considering we were pulling the cabover on the small trailer.

People started arriving just before noon and what a nice party it turned out to be.  Russell and family didn't make it because of Saturday school for Jacob..but some of Bryan's coworkers came along with family and friends.  Even Grandma (Gardetto) came up with Diane.

Lots of food and good times!
The birthday boy !

Baby Owen....Sister Linda's first grandson!

From the left....Van, Bryan, Adam and Rex...

Some of the party people!

Cheryl sent this today...hope it plays!
Sunday was Mother's Day and what a great day it was!  Spent the morning at Bryan's and then headed down the hill to Russell's house for a quick visit.  Then on to Grandma's house where we caught Diane, Jesse and Kenny just leaving as they were headed to Camino, Dusty's house for the afternoon.  Visited with Grandma, and Dave and Emmy came by on their way to Tony's.  Got back to Georgetown about 1700 or so.  Had some wine, probably too much but a nice visit with Bryan and family.  Had some dinner and called it a night..

Got up this am and headed for home.  Stopped in Minden at Carson City Inn and had some wine (I know)...Ken had a 23 ounce Sam Adam's and some awesome food!  Home and now it's time to recoup from the weekend!

Sometime this week we'll head for Reno so I can do a little shopping next week's trip to New York and Chelsea's graduation!  Where oh where does the time go?!

Starting the project for my disker..and of course issues..cooking today..

Yesterday Ken started the project to move or dismantle the frost free water spigot out back.  We are planning on putting my horse drawn disker in the area and the spigot doesn't work.  He got in there and found that there was galvanized steel pipe on about the last 5 foot of piping.  Well, that's no good.  Why they (whoever) put the piping in should have put plastic in and didn't...well they did except the last 5 feet or so..he spent the day digging it up and then having to replace it..which he did!

Ken digging out the frost free hydrant

Trying to find the end of the galvanized pipe...

more sand from digging up two different areas..but found it!

So last night we found that in the bathroom attached to the master bedroom the toilet wouldn't shut off in the tank..probably had steel chips in it from when Ken cut the pipe with the saw..So then he shut it off at the valve supply..today he went to fix it and it wouldn't shut off all the way so he had to use shop vac while he fixed it...uhhhhhh..all good now....

I worked on macaroni salad and Ree's cowboy beans (Pioneer Woman)...today for Adam's birthday party on Saturday.  I think both beans and salad taste better after flavors have a chance to meld.  Tomorrow 7 layer dip.  We'll get up early and head for Georgetown on Saturday, taking the cabover and we'll stay at Bryan's..Sunday we'll go see Grandma even though we'll see her Saturday at the party.

Ree's cowboy beans...yummy

A big bowl of macaroni salad...taste tester says it's awesome!

Ken was in the garage shredding stuff and found some more treasures!
Ken loved Don's expression in this pic...Dave with Don on his shoulders
Ken and Diane...so cute!

Russell's 3rd grade class

Bryan made this in Kindergarten at Georgetown School

Bryan did this ...i'm guessing 3rd grade or so..

I love this...Eric made this in probably Kindergarten or 1st grade
looking at his signature...

Weather today has been something else, wind and rain...cold ..we actually had a fire going most of the day...the weekend is supposed to be nice though...

Started the project to get pictures on the hallway walls...uhhhh

Got going this am and decided that it was time to get into the tuff shed and get out the containers with all the pictures I had packed away when we sold the Colfax house...Oh my....had no idea how many pictures we have accumulated over the years!  So spent alot of the day going through the containers and trying to separate into what I want on the walls, what I can rotate and what I probably wouldn't put up again.  Obviously we had a lot more wall space in Colfax even though we had smaller square footage.  So i'll get back to it tomorrow. Because the hallway walls are "mobile home" walls, it takes more to get the pictures to hold so we'll see what we end up with when we're finished.

About 1230 we took the Ford to town (Yerington)..and I bought a few mom's day cards for some of the ladies from my work (previous)...and then Ken took me to lunch at the Mexican Restaurant we like in town.  Haven't been there in ages..food was good ...service not so much as the young girls were busy flirting with a couple of Mexican guys that were in...oh well..

Back home I spent some more time with the pictures and now time to quit.

So cute, we've got a couple of birds building a nest in our front porch cover. They started yesterday and boy have they been working.  Must be expecting those eggs pretty soon.
Found this in my picture stuff...and now she's GRADUATING
West Point!!
Found this pic of our niece Jennifer!
Back said her first Christmas...now she's in her 30's

Jesse Kay ....kindergarten...

My messy room with some of the pictures...ohh how do I choose?!

Lowe's, flowers and trailer covers...

Saturday, May 2nd...Got up Saturday am and decided to go to Fernley and pick up a few things from Lowe's.  We wanted a ceiling fan for our bedroom and I wanted to get a few flowers to plant.  Found what we were looking for and tried the Silverado Casino for lunch.  We hadn't ever been there before so figured this was as good a time as any.  It was really good so sure we'll be back.  By the time we got home...not much got done.

Love this picture!

Wicked looking skies..didn't amount to anything though!
Love the NV weather..if u don't like it, wait 5 min and
it'll change..

Sunday, May 3rd....Got up and helped Ken pull some weeds outside before it go too hot.  Of course that's just enough to get me started so I planted all the flowers we had bought the day before..looks nice just hope I can keep them that way.  Summer is coming so that'll mean grandkids and vacations.
It's what's for dinner..Ken's red sauce, oysters, mushrooms and olives...
Mine...white sauce, onion, bellpepper and mushrooms..

Our back porch with newly planted flowers in the containers daddy
made many years ago for our backyard growing up...

This little stool sat in our Colfax house for many years
so now it's repurposed...flower holder...

Our little snowball bush..

Ken worked on the ceiling fan, but after taking apart the light in the bedroom, the stuff they put in when they built the addition, won't support the fan. oh well...We decided to keep the fan, as we plan on building an outbuilding to house our "exercise equipment"...treadmill.  We'll put the fan in there when we do it.  He also worked on some covers for the sides of the Jayco that cover the water heater and refrigerator, which both run on gas.  We get alot of wind here, and the sand carries so hopefully these will do the job!  Trying to keep as much sand out as we can!
Foam to go up against the trailer..

The other side..

Two cactus...

Our skies this afternoon...nothing came of it either :(

Ken also trimmed out the back security door so now no critters could get in..looks really good and tight.

Monday, May 4th..We were home all day.  I painted the trimmed area of the back door...and the day just went!  Ken finished the second cover for the trailer and he replanted a couple of cactus we bought at Lowe's.  Russell gave me some beautiful cactus for Mother's Day last day, and over the winter they kind of shriveled up..hoped they would come back, but it doesn't appear they will.  Ken replanted those in the garden area, just in case they do come back.

Our niece Chelsea called today...she graduates from West Point on the 23rd of this month..a long 4 years and a lot of hard work!  We are so proud of her!!

A good time at Boomtown and Lunch in Sparks today

We left home yesterday about 1000 and headed for Walmart and both US Bank and Bank of America so i could finish what I needed to do there..then we went to Carson City and had lunch at our favorite Chinese Restaurant.  Not as good as Winnemucca, but a heck of alot closer.  Then we drove to Reno and visited Cabela's..Ken actually found a sheath for the knife that a friend of Jim's (Ken's stepdad)  had made Jim gave it to Ken many years ago.  There was a sheath with it, but it disintegrated so Ken's been on the lookout and yesterday he found one. Made by Smith and Wesson and a knife came with it, but the sheath fits.

After that we checked in at Boomtown, for our $14.99 room.  About 1900 or so we headed downstairs to go have a drink before dinner...we had a coupon for a $3.99 buffet..well, the band (2 people) was just too darn good so we had a few drinks and enjoyed the music....at 2101...we were at the buffet and they had closed at 2100...uhhhhhh....so we went to their restaurant, had the steak dinner and Ken had the burger and fries..little more than our $3.99 dinner..oh well...live and learn to watch the clock!

Got up this am and took our time getting ready as we were headed to Sam's Club and Winco in Reno...finished and headed for High Sierra Brewing Company in Sparks.

OMG India Pale Ale and my Chardonnay....

Ken's mushroom swiss burger and fries...1/2 pound...

Sierra Brown Ale..

Yummm...southwestern wrap...

We were seated at High Sierra and I looked above the booth at the picture..and said...I think that's where we got married..Sunset Wedding Chapel in Carson City...came home and looked it up and sure enough.."just behind the courthouse" is how it's remembered...amazing...

Blurry..but this is it!
