Alma Arkansas to Clarksville, AR and now we're in Marion AR..ready to cross the Mississippi into TN!

We got up in Alma, took our showers, breakfast and headed out down the road to Clarksville, Arkansas..one of my favorite places in the world...well, especially the memories!  Clarksville has changed alot over the years..from this tiny town to a bustling city.  My memories still have it as this little community where every one knew everyone, well not anymore..but still we had a wonderful afternoon with my memories...
Our lunch spot on highway 71...

the colors changing..but surprising how late in the year

A lake off 71...

Our spot at KOA Alma Arkansas...

We got a nice campsite at Spadra COE park..right on the lake..incredibly beautiful and with Ken's discount...a whopping $8.00 a night..showers, electricity and water...wow!

Our awesome spot ....Spadra, Clarksville, AR

When we were there in 1985 with mom and daddy and our kids...we had to camp at Lake Dardenelle...which was almost to Russellville, where Spadra is only 2 1/2 miles from Clarksville.

Driving through Russellville, Arkansas I was telling Ken the story of our first banana split...don't know if my sisters remember this or not...but we used to go to The Diamond, or Dairy King (which doesn't exist anymore)..in Clarksville, and we would get ice cream sundaes, or cones..but the other stuff was too expensive..so one day we went to Russellville, and Dairy Queen had banana splits on sale, (don't remember the price, because I was probably 9 or 10)..but it was cheap enough that we got to have one!  Our first banana split was in Russellville, Arkansas!  Daddy used to take us alot for ice cream..always been one of our addictions!

We spent the afternoon in Clarksville and stopped at a store called Atwoods..farm and ranch supply...Ken was looking for a pair of boots and he found a pair, but so did I!  They are the cutest things..(mine not his)...

Went back to camp, had a nice fire and then Ken bar b qued hot links for him and I had 60 calorie hot dogs...yummy!  Sauerkraut was awesome!

Ken's awesome dinner....

Another view!!

OK so here are the pics from the day in Clarksville, Arkansas..here you go Ninny and Anno!

The side of Aunt Elmie's house...

The Back view from the park of Aunt Elmie's house...

From the park...her front porch...

Water tower from the park...

Must be a day use area at the park....

The Diamond...across from Dairy King...Bryan and family and I
had ice cream here in 2008...closed today as it was Sunday..
This used to be Dairy King...across from Diamond..

Loved this cone in front of the Diamond...

Here u go...Grandma's house!  funny how it seemed so
much bigger as kids...but someone is really taking care of the
place...ohhh the memories here!!!!

side driveway...

Other side...

I think...this is where we used to buy Grandpa's chewing tobacco..
it's right behind..(or near the house)...remember when we'd go in..
and say we wanted to buy the chewing tobacco for grandpa ..
and they'd say "oh you're the Phillips girls from California"...
Downtown Clarksville...

Just a house I liked...

I think this is the new police station...not sure...no signs..

But we found the police station...

Ok ...another story..when I was about 9 or 10..found my first pair
of heels here...we were going to church...they were off white and about an inch
I suppose..
the shoes were in boxes on the floor ...remember size 4..don't
ask me why I know but I do...the shop is huge now..to main street
but am sure it's the same place...

Main Street...

Going over river

Just a house I liked!
Ok Nin...none of this was there...

not this either

or this....

or this...and there's an xxx rated store...REALLY no alcohol sales
but X Rated Store?????

Cheapest gas and diesel yet!!

Got up this am and went to breakfast at Southpark..a restaurant that Bryan and family went to when we were here in 2008...OMG it was so awesome! I had the cheese and mushroom omelet, grits and biscuits and gravy (5.79)...yes it was a lot of food but the biscuits were so light and tasty..the gravy, just perfect and so were the grits..Ken had chicken fried steak, eggs, toast and hash browns..(7.99)..alot of food and sooooo good!! When we drove up we thought it might have been closed as the shades were closed, sun in the windows...we will be back!

Sunset at Spadra...

This morning before we left!

White River I 40...

Drove on and now we are in Marion Arkansas, at the KOA..we've been here before but a good place to regroup..and the rv show is something else!  The big rigs are coming in and we're cozy and comfortable in our little home!

Tomorrow we head for Don and Dana's house!  Looking forward to spending a few days with them and picking up our tractor.  Hoping to go by the antique place where we've found our yard art before...we will still have a little room on the trailer..:))

We were just talking about this trip and just what a wonderful time we've had...love seeing the US!...

Wellington KS to Osage Hills State Park OK and now Alma Arkanssas!

We left the KOA at Wellington and headed towards OK and the Pawhuska area...because I love the Pioneer Woman show on Food network..Ree Drummond seems so down home to me..so I love the show..but can't really eat alot of the food she cooks as it includes alot of butter..but still love seeing her family and the life they live..

Oil rig along highway 60 in OK

This just really bothers me (us)...hate these turbines..but
they are going up everywhere along 60 and many other
highways...so ruin the looks of the area!

Cute little barn...near Drummond Ranch

Flag is right across the street from Drummond Ranch sign..
could be a part of the ranch...
So amazing for me to come upon this sign! Never would have thought
we'd see it!!

Along the ranch area...

Welcome to Pawhuska...!

Downtown!

The market where I've seen Ree shop!
Probably one of those...little man places...
I would shop there too rather than a big shopping place
(walmart, raleys etc...)....

The building they are upgrading....
Downtown Pawhuska...old, but beautiful...needs some business

From another angle the market!

Oklahoma out of Pawhuska...

My hubby!!

Following behind on my bike...beautiful park...

Cabins you can rent...the CCC made this park in 1937..houses
too.. It has tennis, basketball, volleyball, swimming pool and houses
you can rent..awesome!

Our campsite!

So after a nice drive we are driving highway 60 which was beautiful..and then I took a picture of a barn..and the DRUMMOND RANCH!  what?!...so Ken turned around and we took a picture!  I had no idea she lived off the main highway..then several miles later we come into Pawhuska..her town..saw her building they bought and then the market I've seen her shop at on tv...so we stopped...got some hamburger and other things then on we went..we went by the building again but with the trailer hard to stop and park...so on we went.  It's a cute town...lots of older buildings but cute town. Glad we got to make the drive through!  I know over the top...but I would cook her way if my doctor wouldn't get mad at me and my cholesterol wouldn't kill me!

We drove on to Osage Hills State Park...beautiful place.. $18.00 for the night with electrical and water..so we hooked up and got the bikes out..nice ride!  Love when we can ride the bikes and enjoy the scenery!...

Had a nice fire, and Ken bar b q ued the most awesome burgers...I haven't had beef in several months but decided this was worth it!  YUMMMMM....
My hamburger....ohhhhhh sooooo goooood!!!

Ken's hamburger..looks so awesome!

Got up this am and headed out! ....Knew we were headed for Lake Fort Smith State Park in Arkansas...well we got there and NO sites to be had..I think the weather is so mild, even most of the colors haven't changed yet..that everyone was there...so we drove on to the KOA (which we prefer not to do if we don't have to)..but we're here...would stay here in a pinch again but not if we have a choice...

Looks like snow...but just frost!! So ccccoooollllldddd!

Hoping we can stay at Lake Dardenelle State Park where we stayed in 1985 with the kids  and Ken and I have stayed in the last few years...last time we were there we were going to visit Clarksville and take a few pics...but it was storming so bad we couldn't do it!  So many memories here....
