VORRA was in town! Champagne Sunday ride in the SXS. Reno and Carson City today.

 Friday afternoon we headed to town for a quick stop at Raley's and then to Karen's store and to see what vehicles had come in for the Yerington 250. VORRA is in town for the weekend! 

They had a poker run there wasn't that many in yet. We visited with Karen at her store for a bit and then walked downtown.

We stopped by Joel and Randi's place about 2 miles from us, but they were out for a ride.

In the evening we visited with John and Karen before calling it a night.

Saturday morning we got ourselves going to find a place in the desert to watch the races. BLM had changed the track so it wasn't as good a spot as we normally get. We met Joel and Randi, along with their friend Chris and his daughter. 

A nice morning and early afternoon was enjoyed. It was a beautiful day and by the end you could have had shorts on, it was that warm.

In the late afternoon we headed to John and Karen's for a fire and Happy Hour. 

Sunday was Champagne Sunday once again. A little different as we were going to meet  up with John and Karen for a nice side by side ride to Walker River State Recreation Area. They hadn't been and wanted to check out camp sites. Ended up being about a 40 mile round trip. Very nice day for a ride!

I made up some coleslaw and we took hot links next door later in the day. Most of Karen's family came over for a barbecue. She did ribs and they were delicious. 

This morning we were up and out of the house by 0630. We were headed to Reno as Ken had a ophthalmology appointment for 0830. Traffic sucked in Dayton so we were late, but they got him in anyway. This is a dr he's seen for years who has now branched out on his own rather than the group he's been with forever. Now Ken will continue to be seen 2x a year but with only 1 doctor rather than 2! 😁

After he was done, we stopped at Total Wine for a small pickup then on to AAA which is in the same parking lot. Well, we were going to get the new car registered but couldn't find the insurance papers. We headed to Carson City as Ken had to have labs done. I got on Progressive and was able to download the card onto my phone. Stopped at our safe deposit box in Reno and then back to AAA. Got the car done and then to a UPS store so I could send back the dash cover to Amazon. 

By then we were hungry. Gassed up the car and then on to Betsy's for a delicious linner! On to the room in Carson and here we are 😀

Ken has to be at Carson Hospital tomorrow am at 0645 to get ready for his angiogram. We're only 5 minutes away which makes staying here  worthwhile! 5 minutes compared to 2+ hours. 

Forgot to mention on the last blog that as of March 13th we've been in the house for 11 years! Ken also turned on the water in the outhouse and outdoor kitchen! Woohoo! How nice it is to have both working now! Spring is here (we hope).

A catch up once again..Can Am rides..Yerington 300 races..

Good Saturday morning! Again the time flies and it's the weekend already! I know we took one day and ran to Walmart for a few things and we were home by lunch time.

The temps are running near 100 everyday so it's no fun being outside until the evenings when it cools down nicely. The mornings are nice and cool too.  

Ken did get my "pantry" done and I like it. Holds more than you would think in the dresser drawers.  I need to make a curtain for it, but it doesn't look bad the way it is. 

Thursday we had a 1015 appointment at Carson Toyota for its 10000 mile servicing.  Ken drove the Tundra and I took my car. Ken dropped off 3 rims at Discount Tire first as he ordered some tires for one of the little trailers we have. I picked him up at the Toyota dealer  and we headed over to Reno and Total Wine.  We haven't been there since May, but since we were in the area I did an online order the night before.  

We parked the car and did what the instructions tell you to do and a little later the cutest little asian girl comes out pushing a cart that's bigger than she is. 😊 Loads us up with wine and beer (some for Karen too).  

We headed over to Michael's Power Sports where we bought the CanAm. Ken wanted to get some side mirrors and a spare tire for it.  Got the mirrors and the rim, but the tire had to be ordered.   Should be in later this week. Yeah, nothing's cheap but what the heck?! Now we just need a top on it and we'll be set.

We were coming up on 1300 and hadn't heard from either place that the tires and the truck were done so he called Discount Tire and they told him our tires were next so another 45 minutes or so. We headed over to Carson Toyota and as he walked in at 1315 he saw they were just pulling the truck into the bay! Not a happy camper, my hubby! Why make an appointment and 3 hours later they're just getting to it!  Glad we weren't waiting for it! 

He came back out and said we'll pick it up in the am.  We headed to Betsy's Big Kitchen and had ourselves a linner and then headed home. A nice evening spent outside. 

Friday morning we were up early and out the door. Decided to have breakfast at Betsy's.  Our waitress Dawn is such a sweetie. After a great breakfast I dropped Ken off at the Toyota dealer and headed home. A quick trip (as quick as 70 miles one way can be) 

It hit 103 degrees so I spent most of my day indoors.  Ken got the mirrors on and said he was glad he went with the Can AM brand even though they were pricey. Whatever makes him happy! 

Later in the evening we headed next door for a bit. Karen's kids are here for the weekend so it was nice to see them! A later night than planned but at least it had cooled down some. 

This weekend is the Yerington 300.  A desert race that looks like it'll be on the BLM near our house. We're going to take a ride and see if we can find some of the track just for fun. 

We took a ride and found some of the track..LOL.  We went to town about 1300 as they were having the drivers and their rigs line up in town. Very cool! Well the temp was nearing 100 but still nice to look at the rigs up close.  Took some pictures and came home.

We had a late lunch and then decided to take a ride to a spot Ken thinks we can watch the race and we can. We may just get up early and head out there!

Carson City, Reno, home today, and a change in travel plans

Tuesday morning we set the alarm for 0500 so we could get the day going early.  Visited with our blogging friends and had our coffees.  I made us some breakfast and we actually hit the road near 0800.  Had a nice drive to Carson City, stopping by a trailer place in Dayton to see if they had a tire and wheel for our 20 foot trailer.  They didn't.  We then stopped at Discount Tire in Carson City and they had both in stock.  We left it,and then ran over to Wal Mart to do some shopping. I went my way and Ken went his as we were buying different things. 

After leaving a decent deposit there, we went back to Discount Tire and got our new wheel.  From there we headed over to Reno so we could stop by the bank and get the pink slip for the Money Pit and then to Total Wine for my wine I like to drink (decent deposit there also) haha.. 

We were nearing 1300 so back to Carson and visited our favorite Chinese place there.  Wonderful Hot and Sour Soup and then a great lunch.  Some of mine came home with us and Ken will have it with dinner tonight. 

Talking about food reminded me that the spinach/mushroom lasagna I made the other day was AWESOME!  We both loved it and will definitely make it again. 

After lunch yesterday we headed home and unloaded stuff.  Time to call it a day and enjoy a happy hour together.  Ken didn't want dinner but i had a little of the lasagna. YUM.

This morning (Wednesday) we didn't wake till almost 0700!  Our regular morning and it was slow going, just because we weren't going anywhere.  I decided to head for town and mail a special envelope and then see if I could get my hair cut which I did. Ken was home working on changing out the tire on the trailer, so we've got 4 good tires on the trailer and 2 spares with a little tread. We'll be heading to CA Saturday to say bye bye to the Money PIt.  It was a nice day with warmer temps than we've had for quite awhile. The wind came up this afternoon and cooled things off.  We're both inside now and I'm getting ready for our own Happy Hour. 

Well, we've had some changes to our travel plans this winter.  Ken finally called the surgeon to do the shoulder replacement surgery.  He's been trying not too call but it's time.  At this point he can't reach across his chest to touch his other shoulder.  When driving he has to use both arms to put the truck/car from drive to park. It's just too painful.  Today we got a call for an appointment with Dr. Cummings on January 24th.  So here's how it stands now...We won't be leaving for AZ until after that, depending on the surgery date.  If they schedule like they did for his hernia last year we won't be leaving at all..:(  WE'll just have to wait and see.  

Just remembered...9 years ago today we both retired! Best thing we ever did!!

Friends over for a bar b q, Reno and a new washer

 Monday I ran to Scolari's and bought some goodies for the night's dinner. Karen, her mom Izzy and Karen's daughter, Amber were coming over for dinner.  Ken was going to bar b q some famous Papa Burgers.  I bought some tater tots and made my sister in laws waldorf salad (which I ended up sending the rest home with Izzy).  

We cleaned up around here and about 1600 we sat out on the porch swing and pretty soon Karen showed up. We visited and ate some munchies for a bit, she brought an awesome spinach artichoke dip and deviled eggs. YUM.  Her mom and Amber showed up a bit later. Ken got started on the bar b q and it was so nice, but cool outside he got the fire pit and some firewood and we all sat around the fire for awhile. Eventually it was dinner time so we all came inside to a great dinner.  After some great food and conversation Izzy said she wanted to leave before it got too dark (gotta love these lighter evenings). The rest of us went out to the fire for awhile.

Tuesday, we had planned to head for RC Willey in Reno, but Monday night in talking with Karen she was going to take her puppy (hahah) Jill in to the vet. She and Amber had struggled with taking her last week but because she had been fed they couldn't put her under to be spayed.  Jill is a huge, 80 lb puppy.  Ken offered to help her out so we decided to go on Wed.  

Wednesday morning we got up and going and were out of the house just about 0830. We headed towards Reno via Carson City (or so we thought).  We actually ended up taking 6 Mile Canyon Road out of Stagecoach, to the far end of Virginia City and down the mountain. Beautiful drive and definitely shorter. We stopped at Winco for a few things and then headed to RC Willey.  Long story short, we got a new washer. It's a Maytag and we got it on clearance for $339.00 retail $799.00 and  they're on sale for $719.00. Comes with a 1 year warranty and we purchased the 5 year for $129.00.  If you don't use it at the end of 5 years you get 1/2 back. We are not warranty purchasers, but figured this wasn't too bad of a deal. We'll see.

Once that was done it was nearing 1230 and so we figured let's splurge. We both got a $44.00 (yippee) raise on our county retirement checks this month so we headed for Great Basin Brewery and Restaurant.  We haven't been since last Memorial Day when we met Russell and family there after basketball.  The food is awesome, so is the beer and wine. It's a little pricey, that's why it's saved for special occasions. 

After lunch we headed home and the day was done.  Too late in the day to start anything. We watched a few shows we had recorded and before you know it bedtime. 

There it is..ready to be unloaded and installed today..

Now it's Thursday morning and I've been wide awake since 0300..uhh hate it when that happens. I'll wake Ken in a bit and we'll get the day started.  Ken's sister, Diane is headed over this morning. She's planning a sightseeing/camping trip to TN at the beginning of September so we're going to look at a map and see if we can't find her a fun way for her to get there.
