Happy Birthday Eric, Running around, working on the kitchen, A short visit from Adam

Today, April 19th is our middle son Eric's birthday! Hard to believe he's 47! Where does the time go? Happy Birthday Eric! πŸ’™πŸ’™

I love this picture from March πŸ’™

Eric and Christina when they were in Vegas πŸ’•

Yesterday we decided to head for Reno as the night before on FB Marketplace found a window I liked and she still had it available. We found her house in a beautiful neighborhood near Verdi, NV.  A young family that looked like they were still in the process of moving in to their home. As soon as we saw the window we both loved it and told her so. She said she was happy it was going to a good home as the window had been her mom's but she just didn't have room for it anywhere. We told her our plans for it and you could tell she was happy.  She only wanted $15.00 for it, but we gave her 20. Definitely worth more than that!  πŸ’–

Love the red frame, so that will stay πŸ’–

After leaving there we headed to Habitat for Humanity's store in Sparks. Well, we lucked out there too. We didn't want windows that open and were able to find 2 of the same. One had a price of $20.00 and one wasn't marked. We went to the check out and she called someone up. He asked us if we'd pay $15.00 for the 2nd window...uh YEAH!  So for $55.00 we've got three windows for the kitchen just so we can enjoy the views! Happy Campers here! 😊

Not as much character as the red one, but it will work for what we want!

Total Wine for a pick up, then to Carson City for Walmart groceries and Lowe's for some more wood and screws.  By then we're pushing close to 1500 hrs.  Time for some food as we were starving! LOL.

Got out of Lowe's for $212.00 this trip, some has been unloaded and being
put to use

Instead of Betsy's we headed for Red's Old 395 grill! YUM! We've been there only once before about 2 years ago. The food and service is excellent.

Beer and wine were excellent too. 24 ounce Icky for Ken

Adam had called earlier asking if he could come over and of course we said yes! He knew we wouldn't be home probably, but he knows where the key is.  We didn't get home until almost 1800!

We had a nice evening visiting with him as always.

This morning after bacon and eggs he left around 0930. He's heading for Bishop and Lone Pine on a picture taking journey for a few days. Great inspiration in those beautiful places! πŸ’™πŸ”

Adam and Papa πŸ’™

After he left we headed for town to see how Karen's store is coming together and it's awesome! She's really got an eye for putting things together.  Ken took our weed eater so he could chop some weeds outside her store area.

Once we got back home Ken's back at the Kitchen. The weather is cold and windy but he's tough! I don't think my supervisor chair will get used today! LOL. Tomorrow supposed to be better, we'll hope!

Before we left to go next door for Easter he was able to
get the 36" corrugated tin panels up.

The rest of the walls will be wood of some kind. We both
would love the tin to be aged, but thinking we'll let the sun
here age it! πŸ˜‚

Today he's working on the back panels

Our trees are starting to look like coastal trees bent in one direction from the
wind

My view from the back porch πŸ’™

Ken's getting ready to call it quits today. The tin on the back will be going on in the morning then he can start working on the roofing 😁 I'll have to  make sure he's on time for work in the morning! That's what a good
wife/ supervisor does right?! πŸ˜‚

Daughter in Law Cheryl's side of the family...From left..Lily's boyfriend, Lily, Cheryl, Bryan, Jody, Mike behind her, Ben, Kaitlyn, Adam and Erin 😊

Happy Hour! Have a great evening! 🍷🍺

  1. It was good that you found those windows for the Kitchen. It will also keep the $$$$$ down.
It's taking time but will be worth it.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. Yes I certainly didn't want to buy new windows way too expensive for what they're being used for. Ken's pretty much a perfectionist when it comes to building things, rustic but still functional and perfect :) Nothing seems to go quickly except for time nowadays!! LOL.

  2. Total Wine!?!? I wish they would open one of those in Rapid! Great progress on the kitchen!

    1. Rapid is such a big city I'm surprised they don't have one!! Thank you, I love how it's coming together. :)

  3. Love that red window frame!! The kitchen is coming right along. The tin is probably cheaper than the wood!! Looks great -- even better when it's aged a bit.

    1. I love that too! It probably would have been cheaper to do the whole outside in the tin, but we really want some wood, so guess we'll spend some more of the kids inheritance to get it! LOL. Yes it will look better aged for sure. I know there's a vinegar and salt solution you can spray on, but that would be a lot of spraying out of a bottle..and who knows how it will really look. :)

  4. Happy Birthday, Eric!
Great finds on the windows, that red frame has your name on it!
Ken is doing a fantastic job even when the supervisor is off duty. He's a good hired hand. There must be some hidden benefits in there somewhere!!!🀣

  6. That red framed window was a great find. Ken is moving right along with that kitchen. I hope you have a nice little table next to your supervisor chair. I mean seriously you have to have a place to put your cup of coffee or glass of wine...lol.πŸ₯°..
