It was a beautiful drive along Highway 50, very few people on the road which is the way we like it! Did see alot of the early snowbirders coming from Washington, Oregon and alike. All headed to Parker, AZ to get the best sites near the river hahah...
Highway 50! |
Got to Ely about 1630 and got the last pull through spot at the Prospector Hotel and Casino. They did have a lot of back in sites which would have worked too. So we just enjoyed people watching.
About 2000 we headed over to the Prospector for a free Margarita (which was nothing to write home about)..don't drink those anymore, as just too sweet, but hey it was free. Then we went to the Mexican Restaurant, Margaritas..yumm..we haven't been out to dinner in ages and especially for Mexican. They had two salsas which were both awesome and then Ken had chicken enchiladas and they looked huge and delicious. I got their veggie fajitas and they were fantastic..much more than I could eat! They even had whole beans which we love. Came back to the trailer and that was it! Bedtime!
This morning we have awoken to really cloudy skies and from the looks of people it's pretty chilly out there. Oh well we're on a mini vacation and have our own warm home with us!
Heard they closed Wheeler Peak drive yesterday due to snow! Guess where we're headed today...YUP..so I'm sure the lower campgrounds are open and it's a brand new day!
I've got a few more pics on my camera will update later ...Probably not for a few days..as I'm sure there's no service at Great Basin.
Love watching the scenery |
