Ken's sling free! Dinner guest tonight.

Sunday afternoon about 1330 we headed over to Izzie's house in town.  Her house is so cute, from the disaster it was last summer. I'm bad, we had such a good time, I forgot to take pictures. :(  It is adorable.  After the tour we all sat outside as it was a beautiful afternoon.

Someone had sent her an "Alexa" so I worked to try to hook it up for her.  It's pretty bad when out of a group of people I am the techy...hahaha.  Eventually it worked! YAY.  It wouldn't have beens so bad but Pandora music wasn't connecting, eventually got a notice across her phone saying it was having technical difficulties, so it wasn't me LOL..
My sister, Wendy gave us this sign a while ago..finally got it up :)

We had some weather heading our way!

Actually got a few blooms! YAY!

Daughter in law, Cheryl gave me this hummingbird feeder
found a place for it! The glass is antique glass :)

Around 1700, she served up a spread of Mexican food that was awesome! I ate way too much and on top of that she sent some home!  Sweet lady!

We headed home around 1900 and then just enjoyed the rest of the evening here at home.

Monday morning we were up around 0600 enjoying our coffees and visiting with our friends. After breakfast did some cleaning and just enjoyed being home for the day.  Nice warm temps and yesterday evening we were even treated to a little rain and wind. Of course it had to happen about the time we were going to do some porch sitting!  The winds couldn't make up their minds so we just had Happy Hour inside.

Last night was Senior Night for baseball and our
grandson, Seth. He's been playing since he was
4 years old.

Eric, Seth, Christina, Mason and Grandpa Bobby

Seth, Grandpa Bobby and Mason..
He's still smiling Patsy!

I love this pic of Jacob and his sweetie!
We had Izzie's leftovers for dinner and then just settled in for a little tv watching.  Eventually we headed off to bed with the alarm set for 0445.  We'll be leaving here about 0815 for Ken's 1030 appointment in Carson City.
This picture of Ken's brother Don popped up on FB. It's
been 7 years since our first trip back to TN.

Their beautiful home in Cornersville, TN.

We left here on time and got to the Dr's office with about 1/2 hour to spare so we went on in.  Eventually we were called back to see Stephanie the physicians assistant.  She told Ken he could throw his sling in the garbage and gave him some stretching exercises to do and a referral for physical therapy in Yerington. He goes back on June 18th (6 weeks) and they'll start him on strengthening exercises.  He starts physical therapy on Friday morning. Ken's definitely a Happy Camper!

We left there and headed to Walmart for a few groceries and then to Carson Valley Inn for a celebratory lunch.  We found out Carmen will be back next Tuesday so we'll have to head there soon to see our favorite server!
My marigolds on the front porch are doing well..

Found these letters from 2000 when Russell was on float on the
Bonne Homme Richard.  There were about 14 in this group. My
mom (MA) wrote Russell everyday while he was gone for 6 months
then and when he was gone for 6 months in 1998. Hope I can do the
same thing when the time comes for my grandsons.. :) These are some
of the letters he wrote to her! :)

Not too long after we got home we headed next door with some goodies for Jack and the chickens.  Oh, Happy Hour drinks too :)

We visited and peeked in at Karen's in progress kitchen flooring tile! Looks lovely!  After awhile we headed home and called it a night.

Wednesday morning I was awake a bit before 0600 and started the coffee.  I woke Ken about 30 minutes later.  The morning flew by!  I made the mistake of asking Ken what he wanted as a side dish for dinner.  He's bar b quing some chicken thighs and Karen is bringing some chicken breasts over here for him to bar b q.  Well, he said "how about that dish we had that Dana made when we were back there"...haha. ok!  Looked back in the blog and sound a waldorf salad, which I love but he thought with apples and grapes more like dessert.  I found the spinach, artichoke, mushroom casserole.  Got on Pinterest and found one that sounds similar.  I will ask her for the recipe, but not on a moments notice.  She is such a good cook, it's hard to remember all we had and it turns out this goes back to the trip in 2017!

Made a quick trip to Raley's for the things I didn't have for the dish and got it made after lunch.  A spinach salad that copies the one served at Carson Valley Inn and we're set!

Ken changed things out front where he likes to bar b q.  So now it's set up for visiting. He's found things to keep him occupied now that he's got 2 hands! LOL.

Ok, the two pictures below are my great nephew Owen.  He ran his first race on Sunday. It was about 1/4 mile! Way to go for a 4 year old!!  2nd picture is his mom, Chelsea putting on his race #.

Russell, Jacob and mom, Lori...

Karen's here so it's Happy Hour time! Have a great evening!

Broccoli Crust Pizza recipe for my friends..Senior Ball, couple grandkid pics, bar b q!

Grandson Jacob and his girlfriend Alyssa attended Senior Ball last night. Such a cute couple and they've been together for most of their high school years.  Hard to believe high school is mostly over and Jacob will be graduating May 31st!

49 years ago today Jacob's grandparents were attending Papa's Senior Ball!  He was a senior and I was a freshman! 49 years!!! ahhhh...sure doesn't seem that long ago.

Friday morning I awoke still feeling happy about the doctor appointment on Thursday.
We took our time getting ready and headed out at 1100! Yes, we took our time for sure! It was a beautiful morning in Winnemucca and warmed quickly.  We had a nice uneventful drive to Fallon, where we pulled over and I made a quick lunch. Ken had a sandwich and I had 1/2 a low carb tortilla and my version of a sandwich.  Delicious and now only an hour or so until we're back home.
Our spot at New Frontier RV Park, Winnemucca

It is a lovely park! Last night there were a lot more RVers
but when we take our time..we take our time..haha.

I liked this truck..No clue what's inside..from southern CA.

We were home around 1430 and started unloading the trailer and getting settled back home. We texted with Karen next door and decided that we would see her Saturday afternoon for a bar b q.  We have had pork marinating so that would be the main dish.

We enjoyed our evening and eventually called it a night.

Saturday morning we roused ourselves out of bed and visited with our blogging friends online. Ken wanted mashed potatoes to go with the pork, so I decided to go with Pioneer Woman's recipe of Restaurant Style Mashed Potatoes.  A step up from regular.  Definitely not low carb or low fat haha.  I had a few carrots and some asparagus so those were going next door too.
Good morning from Yerington, NV!

Ree's potatoes..Bacon, cream cheese, sour cream, green onions
butter, lots of butter..french fried onions..and more! YUM!
Grandson Seth decided he wants to go to his Senior Ball
next weekend.  Mom took him shopping and he looks
pretty darn sharp!

Around 1630 we headed next door and had a very nice evening outside. Ken did the bar b quing and it was delicious!  Once the sun set, Karen started a fire in the fire pit and we visited some more.  Eventually we headed into her fifth wheel and had a delicious dinner! Her house is being worked on so basically it's a construction zone! Nice that she has her fifth wheel to live in while this work is being done!

A batch of my flourless peanut butter chocolate chip cookies..

Ken with Mugsy and Jack..

Daughter in law Cheryl called to tell me about Adam's day working as a State Park Aid.  A little later Adam called to tell me about his day too.  Long story short, they called him on Friday and told him they were releasing him to work alone on Saturday! Wow..that was quick! So after working a full day, he's called on the radio to a broke down car in the canyon, he's in charge of being a Pilot Car..uh what?!  Then he's in charge of traffic control.  Mind you, he has no idea what he's doing, but he got broke in quickly!  After that he's taking the cash box back to the ranger office and sets off the alarm!  They took it all in stride and told him he's the first one this year to set the alarm off! haha. It was funny to hear Cheryl tell it, even funnier to hear Adam tell it!  Better him than me for sure!
Adam hard at work..

Sunday morning, I was awake around 0500 but it's Sunday right?  Stayed in bed until 0600 and started the coffee, moved stuff in the living room so we could enjoy our reading.  About 0630 I got Ken up, no sense in letting him sleep the day the away right!?

We've been invited to Izzie's house in town to celebrate Cinco De Mayo later this afternoon.  More good food and drink! It's supposed to be 83 in the afternoon so it will  be a wonderful warm day!
This morning's breakfast..Ken's bacon, egg and cheese muffin
My 1/2 low carb tortilla with egg beaters, spinach, mushroom and
cheese ..YUM..

Cookies to take to Izzie's..Ken said you did make NOT good
for you cookies didn't you. Yes these are bad for you!! haha.

Tuesday, Ken has dr appointment for his 6 week check up after the shoulder replacement. He's hoping to get the sling off and start physical therapy! He's ready for some movement! Ha.
My sister Linda's granddaughter Cassidy enjoying
eggs for the first time..Think she likes them..
She's growing up so quickly!

Have a great day!
Since we've been home I've had some people ask me for the Broccoli Crust Pizza Recipe. Rather than message people separately thought I'd use the blog to do that.

Broccoli Crust Pizza

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

1 large crown of broccoli that should yield 3 cups of finely chopped broccoli either
by hand or in food processor  (I've found it usually takes more than 1 crown)..

2 large eggs (I use egg beaters as I don't want the cholesterol from eggs)

1/4 c shredded Parmesean
!/4 c shredded mozzarella (really any cheese will work for both)

Chop the broccoli very fine or process in food processor.

Measure out about 3 cups of broccoli and put into microwave safe bowl.  Place bowl in microwave and heat 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Recipe says to wring out broccoli, or place between paper towels. I don't bother as it seems the broccoli doesn't have must moisture (like spaghetti squash).

Add eggs and any seasoning you want to the crust.  Sometimes I add a little crushed red pepper flakes or something else.

Add the cheese and mix together.

Line pan you're using with parchment paper and spray with Pam or oil.  Take the broccoli and dump it in the middle of the pan. Using your hands spread out and form a circle. It  should be about 1/4 inch thick or so.  Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are turning a light brown and surface feels dry.

Remove from oven and top with your favorite items. Place back in for 10 minutes or so until cheese is melted. Remove and enjoy!

It's a very forgiving recipe. After a few times you may find you don't need two eggs, or you might want to make a bigger pizza. I've had fun playing with it! And it's yummy!

I literally did a Happy Dance at the Doctor's office!

Tuesday morning after visiting with our online friends and getting some showers and breakfast we took ourselves out to Reno. Had a good drive there.  We headed for Total Wine first where I had placed an online order. Easy.  Then on to Sierra RV to see about making an appointment to have our Jayco looked at for the heater/ac.  They are about a month out but found us and appointment for May 15th. They told us they'd have it about a week and we need it for the end of the month.  Ok as long as we have it back to travel to CA for graduations.
Broccoli crust pizza..Ken's top..olives, oysters, mushrooms and cheese
Mine veggie and shredded cheese..

A little extra..with turkey, asparagus, mushroom..

We had some great thunder and lightning!

After cooking..

On to Winco where we left a sizable donation but we sure got a lot more food there than anywhere else!  At that point we decided to drive over to Carson City and have lunch at our favorite Chinese place. Yum.  I still stuck to just the meat and veggies. Rice came home for Jack and lots of leftover chicken.

Ken wanted to drive home from there, so I read my book on the way home. We dropped off some beer we picked up for Karen and went home to unload the goodies.

We finished off the pizza for dinner as neither of us were really hungry! It was delicious!

Wednesday morning we sat the alarm so we could finish getting things ready to head out to Winnemucca. We knew we wanted to be there for our 1300 lunch. Not a problem we pulled into the New Frontier RV Park about 1230.  At the front desk we asked if they had any recommendations for a Mobile RV guy, thinking maybe we could get the problem taken care of without leaving the RV for a week or more. We called Jesse after we got ourselves parked in spot #43.  New Frontier is a Passport America park. You can stay for 2 nights for 1/2 price.  In this case it cost us $39.00 for 2 nights. In the winter it's about $20.00 for 2 nights.  It's a wonderful park with full hookups, picnic tables, bathrooms, showers and beautifully landscaped sites.  There is a Wingers within walking distance (but we weren't impressed the last time we were there).
Gotta love our rural Nevada traffic

The view from our campsite!

Jesse came about 1630 and worked like crazy on the Jayco. It wasn't the thermostat like we originally thought.  He traced the problem to the unit underneath the love seat and it was a circuit breaker type switch.  Long story short he worked about 4 hours with very little breaks.  He and Ken got along famously...so there was some chit chat involved LOL>.
In the end after 4 hours he charged us $270.00.  We gave him $300.00 as we both knew it would have cost a lot more than that at Sierra RV.  Their hourly rates for VIPS..(people who bought their RV there) are $139.00 an hour!!! Jesse was only $50.00 with a call out fee of something.  I would definitely reccommend him to anybody!!

Here's where the problem is under
the loveseat..

Jesse and Ken talking..they got along
really well..LOL!

River level is high!

Beautiful mountains surround Winnemucca

Winnemucca has always been a very patriotic town..attracted us to
it from the first time we came through..

Thought this was great..an oldie but goodie!

He left nearing 2100.  We had a couple of beer and wines and called it a night..way too late for dinner.

This morning (Thursday) we woke ourselves up and got up nearing 0640!  It was a good night's sleep for sure.  I always tend to sleep well in the trailer.  Coffee, computing and breakfast.  We were ready to head out the door around 1020.  We got to the Dr's office early but had some paper work to fill out.  Got in right on time and of course the dreaded scale...Got up there and then DID A HAPPY DANCE!! Literally, I couldn't help myself!! 16 pounds gone since the last appointment.  A few more to go and I think I'll be happier! Dr. Robbie Grant came in and it was all good news!Glucose was so much better than last time, it was nearing diabetes stage, way below now!  Cholesterol all good! Keep up the good work and see you in 6 months.  That's the only thing I got in trouble for hahah..because it had been longer than the 6 months.

We celebrated by heading for Parker's Model T Restaurant.  I still got rid of the bread and treated myself to 3 french fries. The chicken sandwich was delicious. Ken had a patty melt which looked awesome too. Back to camp and he's headed over to visit Ranger, Dana's brother who moved here a couple of years ago. So I am enjoying myself in the trailer enjoying the warmer temps.

I messaged daughter in law Lori this am just to check on dates of graduations and parties etc.  Haven't heard, but she does work during the day so this afternoon I called Cal Expo and reserved for the week things are happening. Glad I did as they are almost fully booked. End of the month will be here before we know it!

Christina had some senior pics taken and here's just a sampling of my faves..:)
Seth, Christina, Eric and Mason :)

Love this pic of the two brothers :)

Seth and his baseball uniform..

I love this one with that little grin! :)

Tomorrow morning we'll head home and hopefully the weather warms even more! Have a good evening everyone!
