Klamath Falls, Or to home, Best in the Desert Race, Good times with friends old and new! Work on the outdoor kitchen

It seems we've been busy ever since we got home on the 9th from the Oregon / Washington trip. So a little catch up.

We left our motel on the 9th and went looking for a restaurant to have our breakfast before leaving town. We found Casey's Restaurant and what a treat it was. A bunch of local good ole boys and families. The food was awesome and plentiful. The atmosphere had us smiling before even walking in the door. A true Red White and Blue restaurant right down to their complimentary red, white and blue Hershey kisses as you walked out the door!  You will either love it or hate it. We felt right at home!

Even their ketchup was a patriotic bottle. Each purchase supports Folds of Honor. Folds of Honor supports dependents and/or spouses of fallen or disabled US Service Members. The same for First Responder Scholarships.

So remember kids when you get a bottle of ketchup as a Christmas gift. This is why!

I should have gotten more inside pictures, but too busy eating I guess. LOL

After that great breakfast we continued our drive home. I think we got here around 1500. A beautiful drive through Susanville, Ca and other little towns. No big rig traffic!

Monday, the 11th we drove to Reno and Cabela's had Ken had ordered a new gun and needed to pick it up. After all he does for me, I'm happy he bought something for himself 😁 Then some running around of course.

Pretty much the the next few days we spent getting ready to head for Silver Springs and the Best of the Desert races we watch every year with friends. This year was a little different as Keith hosted instead of Johnny. A blast for sure.

We left here Wednesday afternoon and met up with Joel, Randi, Joe and Rachel. Thursday morning more people pulled in. Once they left to go on a ride, we left and came home and got the Can Am on a trailer to take there.

I made some fruit salad and cooked an egg casserole. We headed back out about 1330. Silver Springs is only about 35 minutes from our house.

Anyway, the weekend flew by and before you know it, Sunday morning everyone was packed up and gone. It was a great time seeing old friends and meeting and getting to know newer friends πŸ’–

Joe, Ken and I went to watch the races from
the desert area where we usually go. Every
one else stayed at the pit area.

We were home before 0900 so we went ahead and unloaded the Mansion and I got it cleaned up for the next trip 😁 Ken did his own unloading and stuff.

Then before we worked the day away, it was Champagne Sunday. Not that we didn't have Mimosas and Bloody Mary's during the camping trip. Tradition is tradition right?!

Relaxed and then barbecued some hot links. YUM!

Yesterday was another Reno day as we had an appointment for the Can Am to get serviced. Hard to believe that side by side is 5 years old already! We dropped it off and then went to Lowe's in Carson City to pick up a couple of bags of concrete and an anchor for the last 4x4 in the outdoor kitchen project. When we pick up the Can Am we'll see about the lumber and roofing for it. A Total Wine visit too.

Luckily there wasn't much unloading to do so we headed next door for Happy Hour.

Today Ken got started on digging the hole and he should be pouring concrete as I write. I did my once a year repainting on the outdoor kitchen sink. It gets scratched and looks not good. Now it's good for another year!

The before after I peeled off some paint and sanded

The after...

Just love this Youngstown kitchen πŸ’– circa 1940 ish..

Aaron took a few days and got to see Jacob and Allissa πŸ’— Jacob had just got off ship, so perfect timing! πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™
He also got to
see friends and all is good to go at University of California, Santa Barbara in
September.
Three of my most favorite people! πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’–

Grand Nephew Owen and Grand Niece Cassidy first day of
school. 2nd and 5th grade already! πŸ’™πŸ’—

I love the look on Owen's face, deep in thought.
He's got his PROUD shirt on πŸ’™ Can't get any cuter than
that!

I'm sure glad he knows what he's doing! Perfectly level.
You can see how much digging he had to do. We're on the
uphill side now. Either tomorrow or Thursday (depending on
Can Am) we'll go get the rest of the lumber etc. 😁😁

Well, it 1600 almost Happy Hour! I'd say he deserves a 🍺
or 🍻 after working in this 96 degree heat! Since I'm the
supervisor (haha) I should join him! 🍷
Have a great evening!

Home from Washoe, Ken gets wood, work on the kitchen

We left Washoe Lake State Park about 1045 we were early! Our usual leave time is 1100 no matter what time we get up! It was a great morning of blog reading, coffee, muffins and then after our showers breakfast. Nice leisurely morning!  We were home by 1215, we love that commute!

Just love the clouds!

My new dining retro chairs were in two boxes on the front porch.  I had to open them (like a kid at Christmas).  I love them, so does Ken. We proceeded to get the trailer unloaded and then a little after 1300 we stopped for a quickie lunch.
I'm so in love!

I wanted to run by the post office to mail our taxes off to Winnemucca and then to True Value to get paint samples to match with our chairs.  We had a good time using the samples and picking the right one.  That's my plan on Saturday morning to grab some paint and get started :)

Around 1700 our neighbor Karen stopped by for a few minutes. If the weather is  better this weekend we'll probably get together for a bit.  After that Ken and I had a drink or two.  Earlier in the day I made up the fixings for tuna melts. Thanks George! Our Awesome Travels .  You can find the recipe on George's blog if you're interested! These are so good and simple! We put them together, Ken's were on english muffins and I had part of a low carb tortilla shell..Oh they were so good! Ken had my left over fries from CVI and I had a scoop of cottage cheese.  Great dinner, so good we're doing it again tonight!
Those lumps underneath are jalapeΓ±os ! YUM!

I have to say my day was made yesterday. While we were reading blogs, daughter in law Christina called just to chat.  A little while later our youngest son Russell called and we caught up.  On the way home our middle son, Eric called to tell us he got insurance on the 61 Impala he's been working on. One step closer to being on the road! YAY Eric!

I had a lousy night's sleep. Hot, cold, clammy, wild dreams uhh was awake from about 0330.  Should have gotten up but instead just lay there thinking.  I should have remembered I had to amend grandson's taxes as he forgot about a W2 that he didn't get until beginning of March.  The company was flaky from the start, a little coffee shop in Cool, CA.

At 0530 I started the coffee and got the hubby up to start the day.  We enjoyed visiting with our blogging friends and then the day got started.  Ken was heading for Gardnerville to pick up some firewood from the nursery. Then he stopped by Raley's to pick up my pills and a quick stop at Walmart.
Thanks Don! Your trailer sure comes in handy for all that wood!

I decided to stay home to get Adam's taxes done and out of the way (Success). Ken got home while I was just finishing.  First time I've used TAX ACT for Bryan's and Adam's. Gotta say they make it too easy.  Most of them for free if your return is simple.  I called daughter in law, Cheryl just to catch up.

We had another easy lunch today and then on to our own things. I took the handles off all the cabinets and drawers.  First time I've used a cordless drill but sure made things easy, except the last two which Ken was able to get. I washed down all the cabinets and inside one of them that definitely needs to painted inside.
Into the garbage you go..my old handles

One inside cabinet to be painted..1985 wall paper..time to go :)

About 1600 we both called it quits and time for Happy Hour!

Eric texted this am that he got tags for the 61 so we expect to see it on the road soon!
1961 Chevy Impala is registered and ready for
the road

Preview of June! We have two grandsons graduating high school then!
