Over the hill visit, Bridgeport, CA to see Mason and Chloe, a few other things

Sunday the 26th of July we headed out and over the hill to CA to meet Burt! We got to Allissa's parents house just about 1200. Allissa was outside to greet us with hugs. πŸ’•

We had a wonderful afternoon with her and family. Her stepdad, Eric barbecued amazing chicken and corn. Inside there were plenty of side dishes, no one was hungry.

Burt! I tried to get him to look at me, but he was keeping an
eye on his mom, Allissa

After lunch we headed into their pool to stay cool the rest of the afternoon! It was a great day and she has a wonderful family which doesn't surprise us after knowing Allissa for so many years. πŸ’—

I didn't take many pictures as we were just enjoying the day.

We went back to Russell and Lori's to spend the night. Russell made amazing smash burgers and Lori did air fryer french fries which were delicious. Work night for Russell but not us and Lori. 🍻🍷

Monday we left about 1100 and headed for home. Stopped in Gardnerville at Sharkey's and had linner.

Wednesday morning we headed to Bridgeport, CA about an hour and half from here. Mason and Chloe had been camping there. We took burgers to barbecue and some store bought macaroni and potato salad.

Chloe had an art project while they were camping. Paint the
other person. Chloe did well I think.

Mason, not so much πŸ˜…πŸ˜… Ken said she looked like a pickle!
First night there fire was going and dinner being cooked,
turned around and saw a BEAR standing there! Wanted some
dinner! Chloe got on the table and made a lot of noise, he
got on all fours and took off! Scary!

Here's the sweet couple! πŸ’—

We really enjoyed spending a few hours with them. They were heading home Thursday morning. I told them I'd try and talk them into coming to our place but we weren't going to be home.

Ken had a cardio appointment and everything looks good! Sure is different than a few years ago when things were so much worse. God is good!

Saturday we went next door once it cooled down and visited with John and Karen and their RV spot renters 2K and Elizabeth. Very nice couple from AZ.

Yesterday morning John and Karen came over for biscuits and gravy. I had champagne by myself as Ken wasn't feeling all that good. Looks like possible gall bladder trouble. Been going on awhile now.He felt better later in the day.  We just took it easy the rest of the day. Too hot out to do anything anyway. He did barbecue some chicken later in the day.

He had a dr appointment today to get the ball rolling.

A quick trip to Bridgeport, CA. Time with Adam and Erin. Home and a trip to Lowe's

Decided we needed a short trip somewhere.  So why not Bridgeport, CA?! One of my favorite places in the whole world! Only 1 hour and 30 minutes from our house.

Adam and Erin πŸ’–

Loaded up the Mansion and Monday morning around 1100 we headed out. Adam had called a few days before asking what we were doing, so he and Erin headed over for 1 night. πŸ’– They got there before we did, so he did a little fishing and Erin read her book.

We were there just about 1300 and they drove up. Lunch done  and off they went again. They were back in the later afternoon, where we just sat around and caught up. Papa burgers for dinner and then a fire. Once the sun went down it really cooled off!

Bridgeport Reservoir, never have we seen it so full!

Never do I tire of this view from our campsite!

Twin Lakes, so beautiful!

Tuesday morning after breakfast on the small Blackstone they took off for a long hike up into the mountains finding Barnaby Lake. They were gone close to four hours.

We went to see Twin Lakes and enjoyed watching people play in the beautiful lake on whatever toys they had. In all the years we've been going there we've never seen the lake so full! Temps were perfect to enjoy.

Around 1300 the kids got back and had lunch :) After a bit they had to leave as both of them have to work on Wednesday. That left Ken and I to enjoy the afternoon and evening.

Adam packing some stuff..

Erin taking dow their tent

There was actually enough hamburger left so we had those again and then a nice cowboy fire. Again, first time in a long time I've been able to put on a sweatshirt!

Adam worked the State Fair last week at Camp Smokey for
the NFS. He made us this cute piece of wood. Could be a
Christmas ornament but we'll hang it on the wall of handmade
items our family has made us πŸ’™

Tuesday and Wednesday morning we actually ran the heater in the Mansion for a bit. Breakfast and then we got ourselves ready to head home. A quick trip, but an enjoyable one!

We got home around 1300, unloaded everything and then around 1700 headed next door to get caught up with Karen for a bit.

Talked with Bryan and Cheryl for awhile too.

This morning (Thursday) we took our 12 foot trailer and headed for Lowe's as Ken has a small project he wants to get done tomorrow and Saturday. Glad we're not building the outdoor kitchen this year! Wood prices are still crazy!

A trip to Walmart leaving a good donation, but better than Raley's here in town.

We decided to try the Dayton Tap House for linner. Ok, one and done! Drinks are expensive. Food wasn't too badly priced but the fries were so over salted, it was ridiculous. For the money, we'll go to Betsy's, enjoy the unsalted fries and great prices on food and drinks!

Unloaded and got groceries put away, now we're enjoying the air conditioning. Happy Hour soon!🍷🍻 Have a great evening!

A little trip to Bridgeport, CA then to Washoe Lake Camping, Candy Dance, now we're home :)

Last Monday morning we were getting ready to leave for our little vacation to Bridgeport when Ken discovered the hose on one of the propane bottles was leaking. We made the decision to leave on Tuesday and run to Reno to pick up a couple of hoses. Quick stop at Total Wine too.

Tuesday, we left home around 1100 so we'd be at the campground around 1300 to have lunch. Worked out perfectly.  A coupe of the NFS campgrounds were pretty full with people but lower Honeymoon Flat had quite a few open spaces. We picked a pull through and got set up.

Once we got to Bridgeport we had our long awaited champagne from Bryan
and Cheryl along with our bologna sandwiches..YUMMY!

Bridgeport Reservoir is really low..we need rain!

The skies looked threatening but nothing happened until overnight

The little town of Bridgeport, CA

# 8 at Lower Honeymoon Flat..a huge pull through!

You could fit a couple of RVs here along with huge tent pad. With our
America the Beautiful pass only $12.50 a night.

Tuesday night it rained so Wednesday morning awoke to this beautiful view below.

Beautiful view from our site

Let's enjoy the view while we have a mimosa and a bloody mary, just
because we could! 😊

We took a drive to the end of the road..Twin lakes so beautiful!

Last time we were here with the grandsons, we tried to rent a boat and they had
none available..guess that wouldn't be a problem now..

Tuesday night it rained so Wednesday morning we awoke to some beautiful snow on the high mountains. Never tire of that view! We definitely enjoyed a few days there!

We decided rather than head home on Thursday we'd head for Washoe Lake State Park and camp there until Sunday. πŸ˜€  Both campgrounds were full. Luckily we spotted someone that was leaving, so we pulled in as they pulled out. We like this side of the campground as it is equipped with electricity and water.  With Ken's State Park Pass ($30.00 a year) it only costs us $10.00 a night, or if we stay in the other side that has no hookups, it's FREE camping. Nice bathrooms and showers too. πŸ˜ƒ

This weekend is Street Vibrations in Reno, so there's a lot of Harley's in the campground and all over! Quite the party going on at Carson City Harley Davidson.

Friday morning we headed to Casino Fandango for a yummy late breakfast. Then off to Reno so I could do some shopping. It's been awhile since I've treated myself to some new clothes. Good thing Ken is VERY patient as gong through the mall, I found nothing. I like simple things and could't find anything I wanted. :( Guess I'll try Ross in the near future.

After a few hours, I suggested going to Midtown Marketplace in Carson. A little antique, collectable store. There we did find a couple of things LOL.

This beauty will hang on the outside of the outdoor kitchen 😊

Back to camp for some of Ken's yummy burgers and a beautiful night by the fire.

Saturday morning I set the alarm for 0500 so we'd be ready to leave a little after 0700. We ate our breakfast in the truck on the way to the Candy Dance in Genoa, an adorable little town set back by the mountains. It's Nevada's oldest settlement.

This weekend it's a huge craft and vendor fair, that brings in thousands of people. By 0800 the streets were packed.  We spent a few hours walking the streets and vendors. We did support the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department by buying a new long sleeve shirt for Ken, a couple of glasses and a couple of Bloody Marys along with a new wine glass for me (wine included)  A great way to finish the morning! LOL.

About 0800..crowds not bad

A couple of hours later..people everywhere LOL.

Traffic coming in as we were going out.

Luckily Ken parked the truck going against the traffic in the
am.  Made it much easier to get out!

On the way out we did buy one of the last 3 sandwich boards that we had seen earlier.  Amazing how quickly these sold!

We got back to the campground early afternoon and just enjoyed. Late afternoon we headed for Betsy's and had an early, delicious dinner with leftovers coming home. :)

We have enjoyed our little vacation, but today we're heading home. First things first though, a yummy breakfast along with a mimosa!

Supporting the local fire department! I wish I would have bought more of
these as they are the perfect size and plastic too!

It was cool so Ken lit the campfire! Perfect!!

Got home early afternoon, unloaded The Mansion and now she's in her parking space ready for the next trip! We thought it might be mid October, but we'll see.

Well, looking like it's almost Happy Hour time again..LOL. Enjoy your evening!
