Seth calls, Carson City, Sunsets and Support for Law Enforcement!

Thursday evening we were visiting with Karen when my phone rings and it's our Marine Grandson, Seth! Happy grandparents here to hear from him!! Made our night!  πŸ’–

Friday morning about 0930 or so we left for the 1 1/2 hour drive to Carson City.  The day was hot, like they've all been lately.  After stopping for fuel our first stop was Lowe's for ATV ramps for the car hauler (toy hauler to be).
2 Air Force Veterans who obviously love the flag and American πŸ’™
Love it!!  On the back of their truck!

2 Air Force Veterans and their messages..Git Off My Ass appears to light up when
you are tailgating! LOL.

Next stop was Discount Tire.   They had an easy up set up and they asked what  you needed.  Ken told them we needed a new tire and got that taken care of, they said it would be a couple of hours.

From there we headed to Walmart for both of us to make sizable deposits of our $$.  Hopefully we don't have to go back there for awhile. While we were there Discount Tire texted letting us know the tire was ready. That was quick.

We picked it up and by then it was nearing 1400. Time for Linner at Betsy's Big Kitchen. Lisa (our favorite server) was working so as we were seated she went to grab our drinks.  Another wonderful linner and by 1500 we were headed home.

After we got groceries put away we were able to sit outside and watch the sun set as temperatures cooled nicely.  Does it get any better?!

No it's never windy here LOL..
Saturday morning we awoke to warm temps already.  I was going to do a little baking but after getting to that point I decided to put it off for a day with the hopes I'd get started earlier. Just too hot to have the oven on when it's not needed.

It was a stay at home day and for me pretty much a stay inside with the a/c day! I like to find things to keep busy with, so I did.  Ken was outside until he came in for our salad lunch.  Around 1500 he came inside for good.

He barbecued some delicious turkey burgers and I made zucchini fries (so yes I did use the oven for a bit).  I took pics but were very blurry :( We were able to be outside for a nice Happy Hour and enjoy a little breeze.  Eventually we were inside for the night and able to turn off the a/c.

We have windows and doors open all night with a fan in the window blowing in the cooler breeze.  No blanket needed, barely a sheet.

This morning (Sunday) I was awake at 0430.  Temps were warm at 66 degrees. I was laying there noticing that the days are getting shorter.  It used to be daylight at 0430, but now even at 0500 the sun is just barely lighting the skies.
With all the hate out there for Police, this was awesome to
see! Placer County Sheriff Office and Auburn Justice Center
in Placer County! Thanks Keri for sharing with me!! Maybe
it'll spread all over! πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

How cool would it be to be in law enforcement and find these
when you're coming into work?!!!

I got out of bed at 0500 and started the coffee while washing some dishes from last night that I was too lazy to do then. Woke Ken at 0515 and we got the day started catching up on our blogging friends. It's 87 degrees at 1000. Uhh..takes the fun out of working outside for sure.
A few pop ups from this week on FB.  Our son Bryan not too
long after we moved into our North Highlands house..I
couldn't wait to get rid of the wall paper LOL..Ken
actually liked it ..

Well time to get going and see what the rest of the day brings! Have an amazing one! πŸ’™

That was a nice surprise! The heat is on!!

Tuesday morning Ken left for DMV at 0630 to be there at 0645. Lines are crazy right now, outside, social distancing..blah blah blah.  He waited in line on Monday for 2 1/2 hours in 97 degree heat only to be told at 1630 that computers were down. There were still 20 people behind him and he was 2nd from the door.
I had admired Allissa's purse a few months ago..She bought me one
just like hers..πŸ’™πŸ’– Too sweet!

He decided to get there early and wait for their opening time at 0800. He was #5 at 0645.  He finally got the truck registered that we bought in TN in March. People are coming from all over as the lines are too long in Reno and Carson City. Those are the only ones that takes appointments. Our little DMV does not and so this is the problem. He came pulling into the driveway at 1030.
Russell's favorite birthday present (mine too)! Allissa made him a reversible blanket
This side in support of Jacob.  She is a special young lady πŸ’œ

This side for Russell's service! Made me tear up to see the pictures..can only
imagine what it did to Russell πŸ’™πŸ’–

I was just hanging up from talking with Adam. He was headed for Bridgeport, CA camping for the night.  I had told him if we knew sooner we would have joined him.  He said he would have told us, but he just decided. He was bored. haha. I told Ken and he said "Let's go!" You don't have to tell me twice! It took us about 2 hours to load food, clothes, firewood and everything. Stopped in Yerington for a couple things and gas and off we went. It's just about 80 miles for us.

We got to the campground and Adam was just sitting up his tent. He had to take a double spot as that's all that was left!  No discounts on double sites, but $40.00 to spend the night with a grandson..priceless!!
Bridgeport Reservoir..looks nice for kayaking

I love this view!

He's all set up with his little car

Our view from our site :)

Adam's got his National Parks book his sweetie Erin got him πŸ’™He's got a trip to Yellowstone
next month with her.  Cool little thing that heats up stuff quickly! Expensive to buy, and then cheap fuel..

We visited, I made him a sandwich and he took a little nap. Ken barbecued Papa Burgers for dinner along with french fries I made. Adam was happy, he said that's what he wanted.  πŸ˜Š

Later in the evening it actually cooled off enough that we could have a fire and enjoy the stars.  We all headed for bed about 2300.

Adam came inside the Mansion about 0645 Wednesday morning.  I was awake but just enjoying laying there.  Got the coffee started and later he wanted pancakes. No problem I brought some mix just in case. We had an enjoyable morning and then he took off, taking the long way home over Sonora Pass and then to Calaveras Big Trees. Our gypsy never takes the shortest route. He had to be at work today so only one night out. He'd been running around the day before visiting other places. πŸ˜ƒ

Adam getting ready for a new adventure!
Adam and Papa..
Once he left we made the decision to head to Lake Lahontan State Park.  We got there, found a spot and had a late lunch. It was so hot! 104 degrees.  Originally we thought we'd spend the night, Ken would run home in the am and grab the kayaks and we'd spend another night.  After lunch we sat watching people playing in the water and both of us had a little nap in our chair. Before we fell asleep Ken said he was feeling "woozy".  Just not quite himself. After waking he wasn't feeling good so we decided to come home.  After a/c he was feeling better. Just too darn hot and with no hookups we couldn't run the a/c in the Mansion.
One more beautiful view!

Families having fun in the heat! Wish we could have enjoyed
the water with our kayaks. But 104 was just too much!

Lot's of families camping! Nice to see the little ones

This group was having a blast!!

Once we got home we unloaded just what we needed for the evening and enjoyed the cool of the house. About 1900 it was cool enough to go outside for a bit. He barbecued some hot links so it was a simple dinner.

We both were really glad we came home.  Over night we slept with windows open and the fan going on high. We debated going into the guest room with a/c.  We would have been miserable at the campground as we couldn't even run the fan there!

I needed to get my hair cut but honestly had no desire to visit a salon. This morning Ken and I gave me a little cut I found on Pinterest..how to cut your own hair. Really turned out better than I would have thought.  Hopefully in a month or so i'll want to visit the salon in town. We will see...

Got the Mansion emptied and ready to head for Reno next week on Thursday for some warranty work. I did my thing and he did his 😊  He was going to take the car hauler to get more rock, but found a flat tire. Upon changing tires he sees he needs a tire. That way he'll have 4 good ones on the ground. Tomorrow we head for Carson City to get that done along with a few other things.

We spent part of the afternoon getting some accounts set up online so we are able to pay extra on the Mansion and Can AM. Always nice to see where your money goes.
Pretty wicked looking skies!

Love this one!

Looks like a little later when it cools a bit we'll have Happy Hour with Karen and catch up on things. Have a great evening!
An unexpected dust storm came through!

John and Karen's flag flying high!!

A great few days with Russell and Family..only missing Jacob! Picture Overload!!

Thursday morning I got a ham going in the oven for dinner. Then a broccoli salad to go along with the potato salad I had made before.  A simple but tasty dinner. Also got the meat, beans etc ready for enchiladas for Friday night.

I ran to Raley's just to pick up a few more things..you know how it is with company you always want to be sure you have enough :)

We knew around 1400 or so that Russell and family were at Shoetree Brewing in Carson City. They arrived here nearing 1700 or so.  Hugs all around and then inside as it was so hot outside.  We visited for a few hours and around 1900 we went outside to visit some more.  Aaron arrived on crutches as he had hurt his ankle at basketball practice.  He's a trooper though with crutches or jumping on one leg to get where he's going.

Russell and Family..Lori, Aaron, Russell and Allissa πŸ’—

We ended up outside in the shade and it was nice. Dinner was basically serve yourself when you were hungry.  We watched the stars come out and the darker it got the more stars came out.  We had to be up late to see them, and normally we're in bed way before that time of night.  Eventually we all said our good night's and headed off to bed.  Sure is nice to have the Mansion and that's where Russell and Lori stayed.

Friday morning I got up fairly early and got showered and ready for whenever everyone woke up.  It was breakfast sandwiches that everyone wanted. No problem there.  Dishes done and the heat was on.  This was the day we all headed over to the range to shoot some guns!  We spent an enjoyable couple of hours in the shade of the covers watching the guys along with Lori and Allissa shoot a variety of guns. Russell figures about 1000 rounds were shot.

Bob's Dead..the first time..lol

We didn't get back home until close to 1500 and everyone was starving. Pulled out lunch meats and cut up lettuce, tomato etc so sandwiches, chips and leftover salad was the late lunch.

Aaron shooting the 40

Russell, Aaron and Ken went out for a ride Friday afternoon.  Aaron was driving the Can Am with Russell in the passenger seat and Ken started out leading on the green quad.  They were gone for quite a while and had a great time. Don't think that smile ever left Aaron's face every time he went out as he was driving!
Russell and Aaron going out for the first ride!

Russell and Aaron getting some kind of direction from Ken..

Aaron wasn't about to let a little injury stop him from going out in the Can AM! Just
hop on one foot!

I put together the enchiladas and coleslaw for dinner. It was a nice afternoon. After they got back John and Karen came over for a bit to meet them all.  After some nice chit chat they were going home to make a fire in their fire pit and invited everyone over.  After dinner we got some drinks together and headed next door. A nice night of drinks, conversation, fire and getting to know one another. Allissa headed home first, then Russell, Lori and me.  Ken followed at 0130 after visiting with John.
Allissa, Lori and Russell enjoying the night..

The sunset's started...

Aren't they cute?! Russell and Allissa...

I need a haircut..but that's my baby boy

I love this..they took their chairs to get a better picture of the sunset πŸ’–

Our son Eric made this step to make it easier to get into the cabover..works well here if we want 3 on the
Can AM..

Headed next door..

Russell and Allissa, Lori's on the back..no wonder we didn't get home till late..
look when we left!!

Aaron took Allissa for a ride..

We made plans to get together for a brunch type meal on Saturday.  It was originally 1000 but actually was closer to 1100.  I made a bunch of breakfast sandwiches and Karen made biscuits and gravy.  I supplied the orange juice and she supplied the champagne for mimosas! She even set the tables up outside with fresh flowers..it was a great time!  (But I didn't get pictures) :(
Friday night's sunset

We came home and Russell and Aaron went back out for a ride. Ken had taken Russell and showed him where to go for another ride earlier.  Just a pretty laid back day. Lori, Allissa and I made a quick run to Raley's that was about the extent of any work haha.

Later in the afternoon we sat outside in the shade, the days just went too quickly. Around 1830 Ken started the bar b q for Papa Burgers and they were awesome! Along with some tater tot and onion rings a very simple meal once again.

Once our tummies settled we got out the fruit basket cake and sang Happy Birthday to Russell.  Our baby will be 42 on Monday. We enjoyed the cake and ice cream and went back outside for some more star gazing. About 2300 we all called it a night.  Ken went to bed and I cleaned up the kitchen and joined him about 2330. This was the earliest we got to bed during the time the kids were here. haha.
Allissa was so cute on the couch in her Navy blanket she made..πŸ’™

Love this pic of father and son..Russell and Aaron..πŸ’–

We're getting ready to sing Happy Birthday and have fruit basket cake I made..

Papa and Aaron 😊

Aaron and I going for a ride

This morning I got up around 0600 and got my shower done.  We visited with our blogger friends and then I cooked some bacon and sausage for whatever breakfast everyone wanted this morning. About 0900 life started appearing so we sat on the front porch for a while just talking.  It was already getting hot so we came inside and breakfast sandwiches for all but Allissa and me.  She had french toast and i had my egg beaters.

Aaron wanted to go for another ride before they left so I went with him.  Had a great drive and he's really got it down!  He does enjoy it and it worked out that his right ankle wasn't the hurt one! We weren't gone too long but it was fun!

It appears reversed but Aaron's driving..we were moving looking at our hair!
I actually saw 52 one time on the speedometer..

Getting ready to go on a ride..

Yep it was a great ride!

The kids left about 1245. Sorry to see them go, but so glad they were able to make it out here for a few days!
Good bye..come back soon!πŸ’–πŸ’™ That's a loaner car they live in CA..

Ken took a little snooze on the couch and I read a book for awhile. It's 101 degrees outside so it sure is nice to have a/c on. Gonna be a lazy evening.
It was such an awesome few days, we were so glad to have them come out to spend some time with us. We were happy to celebrate Russell's birthday with us as we thought if we got a lunch with them we would have been happy..This was so much better!! πŸ’–πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ˜˜

Have a great evening..we're hoping it cools off enough to head outside for Happy Hour!
