Happy Birthday Karen! A wonderful weekend in Plymouth, CA, Starting to sand and paint the bunkhouse

 Happy April!

Thursday, March 26th we spent the day getting ready to head to California and the 49er RV Park in Plymouth, CA.  We were spending the weekend with John and Karen. John works in CA so the RV Park is his home there. Karen's been there with him since just after New Years. This was her last weekend with him before she headed home on Monday.

Friday morning we got ourselves ready and headed out. Just about a 4 hour drive. We arrived there about 1500 and hugs for Karen. Adam and Erin got to the park about 1700 and John not too long after. Karen had invited the kids for dinner. 💙

John had this wine glass waiting for me when we got to
the RV Park 😍

We enjoyed a nice fire both Friday and Saturday

We had a wonderful dinner of shish kabobs and sides. Then we all enjoyed the evening until around 2300.

Saturday, we headed to Amador City (about 7 miles away) to see Adam and Erin's home in the renovated Amador City Hotel. It's an very old motel  (1800's) that has apartments in it now. Their home is just adorable with very high ceilings, hardwood floors and the old lamps etc. A perfect place for them and their commutes in opposite directions.

We piled into Adam's truck and he took us to Sutter Creek, only about 3 miles from them.  It sure has changed over the years! When us 3 sisters were younger we used to take my mom there several times. She loved the year round Christmas store. Not there anymore. Several restaurants, all kinds of shopping and people! Of course we were there on a Saturday, probably not so many during the week.

We had lunch at Cavana's Pub and Grub. Delicious sandwiches and fries.

Then we got an amazing tour of the area by Adam. We visited several little old towns and eventually they dropped us off and we headed over to the RV Park. Karen had invited them for dinner once again so they were not long in following behind us.

We enjoyed another great evening and barbecued burgers! Adam and Erin left earlier as Adam had to work on Sunday.

Sunday morning about 0930 John, Karen and us all went out to breakfast. Then it was Champagne Sunday for us. 🥂 The weather was perfect for sitting outside and visiting.

Thank you Karen! The champagne was wonderful! 💗

💖
Karen's birthday was Monday so John and Karen took us out to dinner at the Acorn Ridge Casino which just opened February 24th. Beautiful place! We don't gamble but enjoyed some of the outdoor seating while Karen played a bit.

The restaurant

Love the views from the restaurant. Lots of windows
in this casino!

John had to work on Monday so we enjoyed a short visit after we got back to camp.

Happy Birthday Karen, on Monday! She headed out before we packed up. She was anxious to get home! We took our time and enjoyed the drive. We stopped for linner at Sharkey's in Gardnerville on the way home.

We really didn't have much to unload once we got home as John and Karen had told us NOT to bring food or alcohol. They supplied everything for the weekend. Ken had helped John out over the last few weeks and it was their way of thanking him. Way too much! Such great friends! 😍

Tuesday morning we headed to Fernley Lowe's to buy paint for the bunkhouse. The sun and wind are just too much here! WE restained it about 5 years ago or so, but it looks pretty bad now. WE got a reddish brown paint that looks pretty close to the color it is now. Hopefully it'll last more than 5 years.

Before we started

Wednesday, the winds were crazy but we decided to start the sanding of the bunkhouse. Ken sanded one side and I started painting on the front porch area. It needs some sanding but I started where it doesn't need it. It was a very productive day! After lunch the winds and temps were colder but I wanted to finish the little bucket of paint I had left.  We cleaned up and headed to the outdoor kitchen.

After Ken sanded

Ken started a fire and we enjoyed Happy Hour and beyond until it was time to have dinner.

Today, there was no painting or sanding done. The winds have been crazy and the temps are too cold to be outside! Paint would just fly away! We'll wait and see what tomorrow brings but it's looking like we won't get it finished as we're heading to Arkansas next week. It'll be waiting along with the weeds! We've sprayed once this year, but it sure needs it again. They just keep popping up all over! Seems a different weed every year. UGH!

Our Nephew Dusty and family flew to Sand Diego for a few days this week for Spring Break. The ocean, a Padres game and Universal Studios were on the schedule.

That's a huge donut Owen! This kid has a huge appetite for
and 11 year old! 😁
