A trip remembered (short form)...

When we left here (Yerington, NV) on March 20th I have to admit I wasn't ready to go...I know that's a first as I love to travel.  We had been making so much progress on the house I just wasn't in the traveling mood...but knew we had to do it...Well, it took about 4 hours and seeing the beautiful Nevada desert scenery changing that I was in the mood for traveling!  When we got to Armagosa Valley and our campground we've been to several times, I was once again "on the road again"...

We were gone 42 days exactly and what an awesome time we had!  Looking back I was thinking about all the things we did and the people we got to spend a little time with...

First, we got to Don and Dana's house 18 days after we left..luckily Darryl, Tara and Devin were visiting at the same time so that was really special!

After a couple of days we headed for a short visit with our friend Clif in Crossville, TN and his sister and brother were visiting so got to meet them!

A few more days in Cornersville, visiting with Don and Dana and then we started heading for TX...in Texarkana we met up with my cousin Johnny Boy who I hadn't seen in 44 years!  So that was a short but nice visit!

We got to Red Oak TX and spent a few days with our friends Al and Irene Real. We met at their son Alex's house and got to spend time with them and his lovely wife Rhonda and son Little Alex...got some garage sales in while we were there, and some really good food!  Alex and Rhonda threw a party while we were there so we visited with their friends who we had met a few years ago while we were visiting!  Awesome time! They are so "down home" you can't help but feel like part of the family! Love them!

After we left there took our time coming home and arrived here on the 42nd day.   A great trip!

Best campsite:  Buckskin Mt in Parker AZ...
Worst campsite: Shell Lake Campground..outside of W Memphis..

We stayed off the interstates as much as we could which just made the drive better!  Sometimes it couldn't be avoided but when we could was just so wonderful!  Wanted to spend time in Clarksville, Arkansas (where we spent every summer visiting my grandma and grandpa) but the weather was so bad we just kinda drove through..hopefully we'll get back one day.

Some of what we spent on this trip...

Diesel...total... $1985.00

Camping fees...total..$790.00  could b less if we boondocked..but we like our showers in the am..we prefer state parks or nfs over private..but sometimes can't b helped...

Groceries etc.. (which includes alcohol and other things bought at Walmart, Kroeger etc..)  $1118.00

Other...$167.00..this could be propane, souvenirs etc..

We drove 2862 miles getting to Cornersville, TN and then coming home was 3827 miles...total driven....6689 miles!!!

An awesome trip!  Glad to be home now..but am looking forward to future trips!  Grandkids will be out of school in the next 5 weeks or so...after Washington DC trip sure we'll be heading somewhere with gkids!

I feel very blessed that we were able to make this trip (and pay for it)...got to see so many people and the beautiful country that is America!! We are so thankful!
