Not much going on...

Thursday I decided to make some pasilla butter.  I had seen it done on my favorite cooking show Pioneer Woman. It was easy and looked delicious. We were having corn on the cob for dinner so thought "What the heck". The first thing i've made from her that didn't quite do it for us. The butter melted and the peppers just kind of slid off the corn.  I'll save it for later and maybe baked potatoes or something.

The rest of the day was just hanging out at home. Doing this and that and the day just flew by like they always do. Made a couple of appointments for lab tests end of July and then the dr appointment first week of August. Ken made the service appt for the Tundra for next Thursday. We'll probably take the trailer to Washoe Lake State Park Thursday morning before the appt.  Then we'll head for Reno and a huge Winco shopping for the next week. Friday, if all goes as planned I'll head down the hill to pick up a few grandsons and Ken will head home.

I made reservations at Thomas Canyon Campground out of Elko for 2 nights the 10th and 11th.  We're pretty sure we'll be heading for Craters of the Moon National Monument and then over towards the Tetons after that.

Friday was spent at home too. Ken did some work out by the new rocks designating the driveway to the back of the property for our RV friends. I made a batch of Banana and Apple Oatmeal muffins. I was out of applesauce so found a new recipe and it was yummy with coffee and tea this morning.

Around 1615 we called it quits and sat out by the bunkhouse in the shade. We were going next door to Karen's at 1700 but she wasn't feeling good so had our own. Then later we moved to the front porch until dinner time. We face timed with Ken's brother Don and that was interesting.

This morning, Saturday we slept until 0645 which is late for us. At 0715 our neighbor Joe called and asked if we wanted to do breakfast at Dini's at 0815. OK that was a jump out of bed moment and get going. It was nice as we met Stacey, Rylee and Susan too. It was her birthday earlier in the week so it was nice to see all of them.

Quick trip to Raleys while Ken helped Joe get a conveyer machine from his work that they were getting rid of. I made some spinach dip to take to a party we're going to later this afternoon and now I'm lazy! I'm just going to relax until it's time to go.

Have a great rest of the day!

Great time at Bridgeport and now we're back home!

Monday morning I got breakfast sandwiches ready for the kids then Seth and I ran to town to get gas for him and a few things at Raley's. Back home and we were out of here just about 1100. WE got to Bridgeport just a little before 1300. Lower Honeymoon Flat Campground was totally full/reserved. Across the street to Upper Honeymoon Flat and we found a spot. They had a couple of empty ones left. The nice thing is this campground is still first come first serve sites.
On our way ...near Sweetwater Summit

We were surprised it looked so smoky..

Bridgeport Lake is so full!

We got set up and the boys went fishing for a bit.  It was definitely hot over there.  The sun is so intense and the sky so blue and the mountains are just awesome, one of my favorite places in the world. :)  Got together a tuna fish lunch and then we sat on the side the trailer in the shade. I had my kindle and then couldn't keep my eyes open and had a little nap. The boys came back and joined us and had a late lunch. Then they decided to try fishing once again minus Mason. Seth caught one and threw it back.

Our view from the campsite..just can't get enough of that

Ken bar b q ued some awesome hamburgers and I made some oven fries. It was too windy to have a fire so we just enjoyed the night on the less windy side of the trailer. Eventually we got the boys set up on the reclining chairs and a cot. We had a tent set up but they wanted to sleep outside.
Yes, there was bacon for the burgers..He started them here and
moved them to the bar b q

3 of my favorite grandsons..Aaron, Seth and Mason

The sun is setting

Yesterday morning (Tuesday) it was cool enough we let the heater run a cycle in the trailer. No internet, so no visiting with our friends. After a cup of coffee Ken took his 2nd one out and started a fire. No wind. Funny how at 0600 you need the heater and a fire and by 0900 you're hot and trying to avoid the sun! The boys got up and wanted french toast, bacon and eggs. Your wish is my command..hah.  Love the new Blackstone Grill we got, it holds lots of food at one time and the more we use it the more non stick it's becoming.
Looking out the trailer window..they're still sleeping..

Squirrel...Really it's chicken breast, but the story got started how
Ken killed a squirrel and cooked it up yesterday morning. Aaron and
Mason believed it until this morning..

Got this little cooker from Eric for Mother's Day, cooks quickly
and delicious! It would make a really nice sausage patty in
there!

Seth, Aaron and Mason going fishing..

The boys took off in Seth's Jeep and headed for the lake to try their hand at fishing. No luck but they were gone a couple of hours. After a bit they headed out again down the road.  Ken and I ran to the little store up the road to get some ice. I picked up the stuff for "Smorfs"..(Smores)..Then we took a drive to the end of the road, just because we like looking at the beautiful Twin Lakes. Not too long after we got back the boys came back and it was time for a late lunch. Seth caught a good sized trout and threw it back, not many fish caught this trip.

The water is so clear and beautiful

We found where the kids were fishing..

Beautiful river..

The end of the road..Private campground and marina

Ken started a fire in the evening and bar b q ued some more burgers, chicken and a couple of hot dogs. YUM! I had made potato salad earlier in the day, so we enjoyed our dinner. Then ice cream and smorfs for dessert.

They're awake!

Last night's dinner cooking..

This morning it was bacon, pancakes and eggs for the boys. Again the Blackstone was wonderful. Ken set up a little outside kitchen for me so it kept the mess from inside. Once breakfast was done the boys loaded the Jeep and off they went.  I heard this afternoon that they made it home safely. Always good to know.

We hung around a bit, took showers and washed dishes etc. We were home just about 1300. It's 99 degrees as I write this, so I'm glad we did a lot of the work at the campground. I was able to get the boys rooms cleaned and some things put away here at home.

Looking forward to the next trip with the grandsons in July!

Not sure what's in store for the rest of the week, so guess we'll see. Have a great evening!

Lake Lahontan, ROCKS, getting ready to go camping

Good afternoon from HOT Yerington, NV! It's sitting at about 95 degrees right now. Beautiful blue skies with a slight breeze that hopefully keeps up! (It was afternoon, but pics wouldn't post..so it's 2227 now)...

Yesterday morning I ran to Raley's to get a few more things for the afternoon at the lake.  The boys were still sleeping when I left. Raley's, Family Dollar and the bank I was headed home again.

I drove up and through our driveway area that Ken has made in case we get some RVing friends to come visit.  Well, what do I see?!  Two large rocks are now the opening for the driveway!  John and Karen next door had bought several rocks for their back yard landscaping. Ken told them if the guy they use comes across a couple for about $400.00 for the two we would be interested! Well, there they are and they were a gift from our neighbors. NO way would they let us pay for them. Ken has helped them out when he can with plumbing, finding dogs etc. so they wanted to gift us these beauties. :)

I came inside and found that Seth was awake, so made him his breakfast. Then I proceeded to make a million sandwiches for lunch (little exaggeration but sure felt like a lot).  Once that was done I woke up the two sleeping beauties in the other room. Fed them and we eventually left the house.

Nice that Lake Lahontan is only about 40 minutes or so away from here, so we got there at about 1300.  They were really packed with families, campers, boats, jet skis etc. It was a beautiful day and the lake was so pretty.

We found an area over at Beach 8 and proceeded to get all the stuff unloaded and down to the little beach area we claimed. Water was perfect and the kids enjoyed playing in the water. I had tried to get some floats or something from Family Dollar but no luck. I could see us definitely going back this summer as it was so pretty and refreshing. With Ken's old guy pass, it costs us nothing to camp there! Not a lot of facilities, but that's why we brought our own. Pit toilets, but no thanks.
The lake is so pretty and full..a few years ago it was almost
empty!

Even Ken got into the action

Boating fun!

Just so pretty..and perfect temp!

We left about 1600 and Ken and I were the only ones who ate lunch. I guess when you have breakfast at 1200 your not really hungry at 1600. ha..by the tine we got home all the boys were ready to eat their sandwiches.  Later on they still weren't hungry so we didn't worry about dinner. There was stuff for them to munch if they wanted.

Just about 1900 Ken and I headed next door for a few hours. Love our neighbors!  Before we left we all decided that John would take our cab over to Tonopah for the next few weeks. He works for NV Energy and he hates staying in motels. He's got a project there he started and wants to finish before he leaves NV Energy. Our little Six Pac is perfect for him. They own a Mobile Suite (similar to yours Patsy) but it's in the shop in Reno :(

This morning, Sunday we awoke at about 0600 and had our coffee and visiting with friends. It was warm already! I headed out to the cab over and changed the sheets out. I still had flannel sheets and Christmas Quilt on the bed. Guess we haven't been out in it for quite a while. Got that done and did some general cleaning of it. Hope he enjoys it, I know we do.
The money pit is getting loaded for camping

A little HOT Wind!

Washed and folded a few loads of clothes for the boys. I know they can fold their own, but when they're at Grandma's I do it :)  Seth was the first up about 1000 and the others close to 1200. Breakfast done eventually..haha. The boys wanted to go on a quad ride, but with getting the Cabover ready and Ken doing his part, we didn't know if it would work.  We talked about it and decided that Seth is 16 1/2, the others are 13 so we put Seth in charge and let them go for a bit. They actually were gone less than an hour and were back. Mason got in the shower and the other two wanted to go again.  They asked Mason if he wanted to go and he declined. So the two took off and were back about an hour later. Guess you gotta let them go sometime.

Ken got his part of camping stuff together and I put some stuff into the Jayco. The rest will go in the am before we head out. Made some sandwiches just before 1600 but not as much as normal. Ken's bar b qing chicken tonight so we want them to be hungry!

Tomorrow morning Seth and I will take his Jeep to the gas station and fill it with gas, grab some ice and then drop by Raleys for some more bread and a few things. It's only about an hour and a half over to Bridgeport which is perfect. We'll see how the boys do with no internet service for 2 whole days! haha. Bridgeport may have it, but back where the campgrounds are there is nothing! Hopefully we'll find a spot and we'll be there until Wednesday morning when the boys will head home and we'll head here. We'll be looking forward to the next time they visit!
