How these days fly by!

Thursday morning we were up and out by 0800.  Our appointment for the car wasn't until 1030 but we like to be early just in case something breaks down or roadwork.  I followed Ken to the dealership. We got there and got it dropped off. Ken's appointment wasn't until 1230 so we went by discount tire and bought one for the Dodge. We'll actually get at least 2 before it heads over the hill.  Then to batteries plus for a battery for Ken's atv.  We still had time to kill so we dropped by Mill Park to see what the Nevada State Fair was all about.  There were a bunch of rides and booths set up. Nothing like the CA State Fair, and this one only runs through the weekend.  We walked through, but nothing was open yet.  We decided to run by the doctor's office so we'd know for sure where we were going.

Now I forget what we did then but we got to the Dr's office at just about 1200.  They took some x rays of Ken's shoulder and then in came Dr. Cummins. Very nice man. After talking a bit, Ken decided to try a cortisone shot to see if he could put off surgery.  The Dr. is saying probably a six month recovery, and if you know my husband, that would be very difficult for him (and for me, as I'd have to do all the stuff he does hahah).. Anyway he got the shot and as of yesterday it wasn't helping much. So we'll see. If he can put it off until fall or winter that would be better all the way around.
Make the greek yogurt pancakes with almond flour, oh yummy!
Egg beaters with green chiles..yum.

We left there and headed for our favorite Chinese restaurant and enjoyed a great lunch.  Ken called the dealership as we hadn't heard from them and we were ready to head home. This was the 08 Patriot's 10 year check up to keep the lifetime powertrain warranty in force. Turns out the right axle was going out so we told them to keep the car and fix it rather than pick it up and have to return next week to drop it off again. Gotta love the warranty.

While we were in town our neighbor Karen called and invited us to dinner at their house. We said yes of course and then on the way home I picked up some stuff to make spinach dip to take over. We headed over a little before 1800.  A nice group and lots of food.  John bar b qued ribs and boy were they good! Haven't had them in years. Thinking we got home about 2300.

Friday was a stay at home day mostly just getting things done. It was really warm and when Ken came inside in the afternoon we decided to head to town and visit Susan, our neighbor Stacey's mom. She was happy to see us and we had a nice visit.  She was getting ready to head  over to Joe and Stacey's to do Rylee's hair for the father daughter dance in town. At about 1740 we headed next door to see Joe and Rylee all dressed up for the dance.  So cute!

Before leaving we made plans to meet at Dini's Saturday morning.

We met at 0800 and had an awesome breakfast. It's been awhile since we've all met there. While we were at Karen's the other night we made plans to do dinner on Saturday night. Her mom is leaving for two weeks for southern CA to check in with her doctors. I made some flour tortilla pinwheels and some coleslaw to take over. It was going to be a bar b q but with the winds Karen was making enchiladas. YUM.
Pinwheels to go next door.

Apple oatmeal muffins..

We got a call from our friend, Tracy who Ken used to work with. He was going to be heading for Carlin, NV and wanted to stop by (100 miles out of the way) and spend the night, so we said Sure!! He got here about 1600. He was going with us to Karen's but because of some medical issues he decided against it. We left about 1800 and he had free reign of the house. He wanted to spend the night in the bunkhouse so he did.
Tracy and Ken chit chatting...

We had an awesome time next door seeing Karen's family. We are so blessed to have such great neighbors on both sides. We got home a lot later than planned and Tracy had already gone to bed. So did we!

I got up at 0530 and started the coffee. We visited with our blogging friends and got caught up. Got our showers etc done and then Tracy came inside awhile later. He said he slept well so that's good to know. We visited awhile and I made some breakfast and then got on with the day. Ken and Tracy ran to town for some water, etc. Tracy decided to stay another night with us before moving on tomorrow. The joys of retirement! He and Ken are on an atv ride to the top of the mountain so figured this is a good time to get caught up.

Tomorrow morning I'll leave here about 0600 and head for CA to pick up 2 of the grandsons. Mason first in Cool, CA and then down to Antelope to grab Aaron. I've got to make a quick (?) stop at Winco in Roseville after I grab Mason. Got two 13 year old boys, better stock up on food..haha. Saturday morning i'll run them back over the hill. All 5 should be here on July 9th so we can go somewhere.

Sorry this is so long guess that's what happens when it's a catch up day.

Have a great day!!

  1. Wow! You sure are on the go a lot! You don't sit still for a minute! Maybe it isn't physical work but I'm tired with all your running around visiting! :) Glad you are enjoying yourselves.
Hoping Ken's shoulder eases with that shot, I've heard they are painful enough too!

    1. Yes we are enjoying..makes for a long day when I go to get the kids, but worth it. I did learn yesterday not to incorporate Winco in on the same day :( The shot was very painful, hurt me to watch. I wouldn't do it if I was him...
