Run around day, working on a cabover, Grandkids are coming!

Thursday morning we left early and headed to Carson City to drop off the Tundra for its 75,000 mile service. The last one on the warranty program that is fully covered. I met Ken there and we took off for Reno and Total Wine. Surprised me as i didn't know that's where we were going, so I got on my phone and made the order.

We headed to Sierra Trading Post Outlet. Ken was actually looking for some new shoes as his tennis shoes are pretty worn (out).  He didn't find anything but I found a cute top and a dress. I haven't bought a dress since we retired nine years ago! This is a cute seersucker, and takes me back to 7th grade!

After that Total Wine to pick up the order and then to Carson City to hit Walmart and our Chinese lunch.  Then to Toyota to pick up the Tundra.  We have a new battery with a charge of course, but guess it was needed.  They had said it was almost time, last servicing.
The start of our beautiful sunset...

And there it is!

No filters..just our beautiful skies!

We headed next door for a short Happy Hour with Karen and Amber.  While there we looked inside this old cab over camper that the original owners had left. It's been in the yard hoping to be used as a guest room for years.  I know Karen has no time to get it cleaned before her company arrives in a few days.  I volunteered to do it for her on Saturday.  Mainly just
8 years + of sand and birds that have visited inside (yuk).  There was a small hole on the side that let the birds in.

Friday morning, was a deep clean day for me.  Living in the sand and wind this place gets dusty easily and sometimes it just gets to me.  Also, the little green room got changed around. It's about the only room in the house that can be changed so I do it a few times a year when it hits me LOL..

Where the time goes, I don't know as I still didn't get it all done.  That's what tomorrow's for right?!
We had a windy afternoon, tried sitting outside and it was just too much. In we came and after a bit heard a loud noise on the front porch! Looked out and the wind had blown our loveseat over the edge of the porch taking our marigold plant with it! A perfect storm!
Our porch loveseat went flying...

The damage..

In between the ice chest and porch swing is where it flew from

You can kind of see the wind in the trees..

John made a surprise early visit home, so we went over to welcome him home and ended up back at home at 2230! Oh well.

Saturday morning I was up by 0500 and then woke the hubby.  He was going with me next door to help with the cleaning and fix the hole in the cab over.  Boy am I glad he did.  I can't believe how long it took and how hard we worked.  So glad we did it for them and of course they are very appreciative.
I started sweeping before I took the pic
but there's lots of sand everywhere!

Bed is made and ready for company

Kitchen won't be used but it's nice and
clean..you couldn't see what pattern the
countertop was when we started!

About 1700 went home to take a much needed shower (again) and then I started on the broccoli pizza.  We've been wanting to make it since I saw George's cauliflower pizza the other day!   Ken came home after having a beer with John and had a shower himself.  I didn't know it but Karen's daughter Lynzee and family had gotten here so he got them settled in our bunkhouse and fifth wheel.  As it turns out the little cabover at Karen's was also already going to be used for the next week! Good timing to get it done!
Mine, was so delicious

Oyster, mushroom and olive..Ken's

Once Ken was out of the shower we proceeded to get the pizza toppings on and then we headed back over to Karen's to chit chat with everyone for a bit.  Not a late night as we wanted to enjoy the pizza and we did!
Our beautiful sunset as we
got home

I woke up about 0300 and took a long time to get back to sleep.  Of course that meant a 0630 awakening! Now, because it's Sunday I'm taking my time getting going! Looks like a warm 92 degrees today!

Got a text from Grandson, Mason and looks like they will be coming over on Monday! YAY! A happy grandma and papa! Sounds like there will be 3, Seth, Mason and our other grandson, Aaron.  Guess I better hit the grocery store tomorrow before they get here!  :)

Finally got the day going and decided to make a few treats.  I baked a cake to take next door since they have a lot of kids there.  For the first time I made some low carb blackberry muffins with almond flour.  We'll see in the am how they are, but they sure smell good!  Then for the hubby I made his applesauce oatmeal muffins. We should be set for a bit. :)  Decided to have ground turkey tacos for dinner, so got all that done.  At about 1530 Ken came inside and as he said "I'm done" I was ready to say those exact words!
I only made half a batch of blackberry muffins..just in case
I don't  like them..

Ken's applesauce oatmeal muffins..with chunks of apple
and raisins. No sugar or artificial sweeteners added!

He said it's hard running an RV Park haha.  He had to change out a light in the outhouse, find a fan for the fifth wheel, new propane bottle for it, hooked up to water so they can take showers if they want and other things.  They should be set for a bit! He took the cabover next door so when Isabel and her family get here they can stay in that.  Looks like the boys will be in the house this visit!

Happy Hour with the hubby time! Have a good night everyone!

Diane goes home...Not the right flooring, but it will work

Tuesday morning I hadn't heard anything from the flooring company so I thought I'd give them a call.  Joe said oh yeah you are scheduled for the 26th so we'll see you in the am about 0900.  Ok! Yeah!!

We did some things around the house, and since Diane was here spent some time with her.  I cleaned up the fifth wheel and beds are remade for company! Ken did some outside things and then about 1300 we all had our salad lunch.
Beautiful sunset last night!

After lunch Ken and I moved the refrigerator and then the stove! OH my lord...i don't think the sides had been cleaned since 1985!!  Yuk..but a little (lot) of elbow grease and the sides were sparkling! We put them in the living room, dining table and chairs on the front porch..we're ready to go!  The flooring company had said they would move the stuff, but we thought let's save them the time and effort. It was better to clean the stove in the kitchen than in the living room anyway.

About 1630 I get a call from Danielle at the flooring company.  There's been a glitch and they don't have the flooring...What!!!??? I was told we were on the schedule etc...Wasn't the nicest conversation ever, but she said it should be in Reno in the morning..ok?!  Not a happy camper here as this was the 3rd time we had some excuse.

Wednesday morning I'm awake at 0500 so woke the hubby and said "i"m getting coffee"...
About 0900 get a call from Danielle (she is good) and she says they sent someone to Reno to pick up the flooring and someone would be here about 1230 to put it in. Ok that'll work!
Our old floor

Ken getting ready to move the stove out..

Joel arrived about 1230. Nice guy, good sense of humor and had obviously been briefed we were not happy.  He is a hard worker for sure.  Diane left for CA at about 1300. Joel and Ken went to the garage and he cut the linoleum, brought it in and I'm looking at it....Ken says "what's wrong?"  Not what I wanted...I wanted straight squares and this on the diagonal....hmm..another glitch!   We decided to go ahead and put it in..don't know if guys get this...I wanted retro..but this looks like diner retro (diamond) and I wanted kitchen retro...straight squares..Ken and Joel like it..and now it's growing on me kind of...Ken told me to look for what I really want and get it..it's only $$...Very sweet but I don't hate it..Just pissed off more than anything!!
Then we come to the baseboard...there was an amount that was supposed to be 4" white and the other 3" black under the cupboards..they sent all white!  No big deal, except it's not the right color to match my white!  They'll be out tomorrow to put in the black.
A coat of thin set to even out the flooring..

Joel left, and we proceeded to put back the dining table and my other table. It looks good just not what I had in mind. But I will give it a chance! It certainly looks better than what we've had before.

Good night from Yerington, NV!

We heard some sad news tonight, our friends Bill and Patsy had to say good bye to their sweet pup Clemson...So sorry for you both..he was a sweetie! Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you.
Patsy, Bill and Clemson

Have a good night everyone...

Quad rides, bowling, burgers, Diane arrives, Bye Boys!

Good morning from Nevada!

Saturday the kids went for another quad ride in the afternoon.  Later in the evening we headed over to Karen's and then the boys came later.  Back to the house about 2330 and off to bed.
Mason and Jackson ready to ride!

All three taking off!

Sunday morning as the boys got up I made breakfast for them and in between did a little cleaning.  Ken's sister Diane was coming for a visit.  She got here about 1130 or so.  Ken was next door putting together some chairs for John and Karen. Karen's cousin Gary was there so they worked as a team and got all the chairs put together.

The boys took a long quad ride in the afternoon.  It was so long that my 700 ran out of gas.  Seth came home and got the gas can and funnel and headed back to the water tower to fuel it back up. LOL.   Luckily it wasn't that far away when it ran out of gas.

Showers for all and then we headed to town to the bowling alley housed in Pioneer Crossing Casino. 11 lanes and they were the only ones there the whole time!  Diane and I watched them play the first game and then we headed off to Raley's for a few things.  They played 3 games and then let me know they were headed home.

It was burger night here so Ken bar b qued and I made some french fries and onion rings for them.  The onion rings were a little over done (darn) but fries turned out well even though not many were eaten.
Looking pretty yummy! I had a turkey burger...

After dinner we all headed out to the garage for some more ping pong playing and that's how we ended the night.

Mason and Seth ...

Monday morning Ken and I were up and doing our usual thing of coffee and visiting with blogging friends.  Eventually we got ourselves up and got going.  Diane was out on the front porch enjoying her coffee.  AS the boys got up, breakfast was made :)  Ken had his yearly dr appointment so after his breakfast he left for Wellington to make sure he's in good shape :) All good!

Jackson was the last one up and he requested a sandwich for the road which I gladly made.  They left late morning and Mason called when they got home. Hopefully they'll be back soon!
Jackson, Mason, Diane, Seth..

Good bye boys...travel safely!

Diane and I spent most of the day in the kitchen catching up.  I made some potato salad for our dinner. (well theirs as I am not eating potatoes).  Before you know it we got a text from Karen wanting us to come over so we did.  She's still got a houseful of relatives, but we enjoyed the visit.  Izzie (her mom) sent out some appetizers which were great.  Karen bar b qued chicken but we didn't eat as we had already had our dinner planned.

Time flew and before you know it, it was 2100!  Ahh..got home had a quick late dinner and then off to bed.  I was a little longer as I got the kitchen and dishes cleaned up.

Good Tuesday morning!  Woke up about 0500 to a beautiful sunrise as I was plugging in the coffee!  Great way to start the day! Not sure what's in store for this beautiful day other than I want to clean the 5th wheel Mason and Jackson stayed in. Hopefully we'll be moving things out of the kitchen as I am supposed to get my floor put in tomorrow (fingers crossed they don't cancel again)!

Plugging in the coffee...

Getting the coffee poured...just lovely!

Stole these from FB as Sacramento Beer Enthusiasts
celebrated 7 years of drinking craft beer...
Steve in the middle and our son Russell on the right!

3 of the 6 founders attended the party
Steve, Dave and Russell...who would
have thought that 6 guys who got together
to drink and sample a few beers would
turn into over 18,000 members??

Have a great day everyone!

Great Check up for Ken..Grandkids visit! SNAKE!!!

We left home on Tuesday with plenty of time to spare so we stopped by Tractor Supply in Carson City to see if they had any new tires for Ken's garden cart.  They did so we put two in the basket.  We bought the "never flat" so Ken won't have that problem with 2 tires anyway.  He'll buy 2 more a little later.  One girl working there was really nice, so Ken asked her about the t shirt I looked at the day before and they didn't have my size.  She said she had restocked the day before (must have been after we left). Sure enough, there it was! One happy camper here.  I don't find a lot that I like there, but I loved this t shirt!

Life is better in the Country...oh yeah!

Seth and Jackson taking off

Headed to the Dr's office and we were still early.  We no more sat down, they called us back.  His appointment went great, and on to strengthening at Physical therapy. Pretty much after that we were done so we headed home.  We stopped in at Pioneer Crossing and had their one trip salad bar and then home.

Wednesday morning we had a breakfast date with Susan, Stacey and Rylee.  We hadn't seen them in awhile so thought we'd get together and hear about Susan's trip to Canada and Alaska.  It was a nice visit, but we need to do it again to hear more of the trip :)

Because of George, haha..we stopped at O'Reillys looking for some car wax that he uses.  Other than car wash containing wax my 08 Jeep Patriot has never been waxed so it was time!  It had been washed earlier, so Ken pulled it in the garage and that way I was able to wax and clean it out.  I know it feels so much better and looks it!  I have to say the paint job on this little Jeep has really held up well after the abuse it suffers here in Nevada and the strong sun rays.

Next was the 2016 Jeep Patriot.  Time to give her some TLC.  Why do we have 2 Jeep Patriots? The 08 has the lifetime powertrain warranty and it's long paid for.  The 16 is 4 wheel drive and that's what I prefer to take to CA in the winter.  Got her all spiffied up and then got her waxed! Beautiful!

Thursday, I spent time washing and cleaning out the inside of Tundra.  All 3 of the vehicles really needed some deep cleaning and they got it! The dust and sand around here is just awful. It was nice spending some time outside and enjoying the weather.

Friday I was planning on going over to CA to pick up a few grandkids.  Got a text from Mason and he said Seth was coming too so he would bring them.  Love that the older boys can drive and still want to come.

Friday morning I left the house early to head for Gardnerville and Smith's grocery store.  About 60 miles one way and I wanted to be home when the kids got here.  They had chicken thighs on sale for 77 cents a pound so found those and over $100.00 of other stuff haha..oh well I'm filling the freezer!  Kids got here about 1300 safe and sound.
Jackson on the quad..Mason standing by

Seth and Ken

Seth, Ken and Mason on my quad...

We all just kind of took it easy and visited until later when they decided to take an ATV ride for a bit.  Ken had everything gassed up and off they went for a short ride.
Mason driving the quad to the driveway to be sprayed off!
Mason rode my quad over to the driveway so Ken could spray off some bird dodo..Seth is standing there and he says..."Is that a snake" calm as could be!  Yes sir it was! Wrapped around the frame of the quad!! Thank goodness they hadn't gone any further and the snake decided to crawl up Mason's leg..accident waiting to happen!!  Needless to say I was on the porch telling Ken he needs to get rid of it!  He said he'd take it to Joe's property..uh not far enough!!  He ended up putting it in a bucket and took the truck to BLM property where he let it go! A gopher snake, but it's a SNAKE!!!
He blends right in on the frame...AHHHHH!!!!

AHHHHHHHH!!!!

Seth and Mason ready to go..

Seth and Jackson

Mason taking off snakeless!

I made some vegan carrot cake cupcakes for the first time.  Not for us, but for our neighbor Karen and family.  Her niece is coming and because of health issues she's vegan. They turned out really good!  Karen and Amber came over in the evening, so using Amber as my guinea pig she ate one.  Her eye's got big and she said they're amazing! Oh good! Honestly, alot of sugar and brown sugar goes into this recipe!
Vegan Carrot Cake cupcakes..

Regular cookies for the boys..

Ken bar b qued some hot links and hot dogs for dinner along with that I made some zucchini fries and oven fried potatoes for the boys..don't think they're ready for zucchini fries yet..haha.

Dinner finished and out to the garage to watch the boys play some ping pong and then Ken started a fire in the fire pit.  Nice, we sat outside until after 2330! Not hide nor hair of the boys.  Jackson and Mason are in the fifth wheel and Seth in the back room. Maybe Saturday night.

Mason waiting for his turn..so what else is there to do? Ha..

Seth and Jackson..
The fire burned brightly..

A late night for us...

Saturday morning the alarm went off at 0500..not sure why.  I played on my phone a bit and then time to plug in the coffee and get this day going.  Cool morning but going for 80 degrees so just about perfect!

The boys slept in and then breakfast..

Mason's request..chocolate chip pancakes, with chocolate sauce,
ice cream and whipped cream..Oh yes bacon..no he didn't eat
all that bacon!

Seth's request...2 eggs, cheese, bacon
on an english muffin..

Jackson is a late sleeper so I expect by the time he comes in it will be a sandwich kind of brunch.  Love these kids i'll  tell ya!  We are supposed to go to Karen's later she's bar b quing some ribs as her sister is coming into town.  I threw some chicken breasts in the crockpot just in case the boys don't want to go. I'm thinking some will, but we'll see.  They're at grandma's so they can do what makes them happy. :)

Have a great day!
