Waking up in Winnemucca..

Friday morning we got up about 0500 to get the day going.  Had our coffees and visits with our friends online.   Then showers, breakfast and we finished loading the trailer and getting ready to leave.  It as really cold and cloudy but we decided to go ahead and go.

We hit the road at 1040 and knowing it was only about 180 miles to our destination we were in no hurry.  A beautiful drive, snow on all the mountains but none on the road.
Time is an hour off, but why fix it now as we'll be in another
time zone soon..

On our way to Fallon, NV Highway 95..

Between Fallon and I 80 still on 95..

Looked so pretty from the inside of the truck. .

We pulled over in Lovelock and turned the heater on in the trailer, wow! Freezing outside and inside the trailer.  I made some veggie hummus wraps. They were delicious but we both decided we need something warm for lunch next time!

Patsy, these are the tortillas I buy..so yummy and only 50 calories
I don't know if they're the same as what Nancy used, just thought
I'd share. I believe there is tomato too, but I'm partial to this flavor.
Delicious for breakfast burritos too. I have only found these at
Walmart.  I look everywhere for this brand but not too be so far.
$3.08 for 8 but worth it!

I80 on the way to Winnemucca!

Snow is gorgeous on the mountains!

Back in to the truck for another 70 miles or so.  Pulled into the New Frontier RV Park and got our spot for 2 nights.  This is a Passport America Park so in the winter you can stay for 2 nights for $10.00 a night.  They also have every other discount available too, but with PA you get 1/2 the rate.  They have gorgeous restrooms, laundry, wifi and cable. It sits in a beautiful place too surrounded by mountains.
Our sunset out the trailer..

And there she goes!

We dropped the trailer and ran over to drop off our taxes. Business done, back home in a few minutes.  Ken got everything hooked up and we're happy campers!  Watched some tv, happy hour and then tacos for dinner. Done!

We texted our neighbor Joe, as he works graveyard at the prison here to see if he wanted to do breakfast in the morning. He gets off at 0500 and we could meet him around 0700 or so, but after talking we decided we would meet him at Wingers for dinner instead before he goes to work Saturday night.

Good thing we didn't plan on meeting Joe as I woke up at 0710! I slept all through the night too! Started the coffee and crawled back into bed.  Up and at em at 0800!  Guess we're in vacation mode huh?!

Coffee, blogging and now to get the day going at 0923.  Ken's going to see if he can hook up with Don's brother in law, Ranger who recently moved to Winnemucca.  Think I'm just going  to stay here and enjoy the trailer, warmth and a book.:) They're expecting snow today and as I'm finishing this it's SNOWING!  The mountains I was looking at are all gone, so pretty.
This morning's view, just started snowing lightly..

So that's that.  We're on our way to Tennessee and enjoying ourselves along the way. Does it get any better?! I think not. (As our blogging friends know!)..:))

Have a wonderful day!

  1. We are on our way too. Left about 10:30 this morning and we have already stopped twice. This trip will be our first in this MH so we expect this trip will be the "big learning" experience. We will be boondocking somewhere tonight. Blessings to you and Ken. ......Elva

  2. Ugh! Snow and cold. Bad combo. Glad it wasn't on the road. As you say, beautiful to see on the mountains.

Glad you are on your way and it won't be long before the snow is gone. Nice to have hook-ups for only $10 a night and you sure need the electricity with the cold nights.

    Drive safely.

    1. Yeah it's really too cold here, we want to be moving on, but Ken's got to get the valves and hoses unstuck and drained. I'm sure we've spent more than 10.00 in heat!

  3. That's a great deal for the campground. We'll mark that one down if we get up that way.
Hope you drive out of the snow soon. Pretty to look at, just not alays fun to pull a trailer through. Drive safe!

    1. We really like this park gotta say. I agree about driving in snow and of course black ice. They brine the roads pretty good out this way but still we are very careful.

  4. Looks cold there, and the snow on the mountains is much prettier when it's much warmer where you are!

Enjoy dinner with your friend. Enjoy your time at the park.

We have Passport America as well. Their home park is in Long Beach, Mississippi. Great place if you ever make it to that area. Price is $12.50 per night. They supply the wood for the community camp fire, the coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well. Cute little club house, nice shower/bathrooms. We have some very good friends there.

    Safe travels.
