Nevada Beach, Lake Tahoe.. Saturday at home...

When Ken was having his echocardiogram done Thursday he started talking with the technician, Mary.  She told him  to stay in shape (she's 60) she goes to Nevada Beach on the south shore of Lake Tahoe  and goes paddle boarding.  She said I would love the beach for kayaking.
Russell Kay, wanted you to see the succulents you gave me
for Mother's Day are thriving!

Blooming and growing!

Thursday evening we decided to sit outside and watch the sun set.  We got started talking about what to do on Friday.  We could stay home and get some work done, or we could head out to Nevada Beach and check it out. Guess what won out!? Decision was made to head for Nevada Beach in the morning.
Good night from Yerington, NV

While sitting out front the winds picked up and we headed for the back porch. Boy do these porches get us in trouble!  It was so much warmer out there!  We enjoyed the evening before coming inside to put Ken's pizza I had frozen from a few weeks ago in the oven.  Earlier I had taken out a frozen broccoli crust and added a few items to it, so I put it in the oven then too.  We enjoyed a great pizza dinner.
Ken's olives, oysters and mushroom pizza

Friday morning we got up and got ourselves going.  Nevada Beach is only 80 miles from our house.  It's a beautiful drive up Kingsbury Grade to South Shore.  We found the turn off easily and enjoyed some time on the beach! Lake Tahoe is usually so crowded year round, not sure why this beach isn't but I know we'll be back for some kayaking!  Day use is $10.00, not cheap but if you're spending the day it's not bad.  They do have a campground but according to the check in lady, she says they are always totally booked. You have to get online and book 6 months out.  So, probably not for us.

After enjoying the beauty of Lake Tahoe for awhile, we headed out.  We knew it would be close to 1300 by the time we got to Minden so where else would we go for lunch but Carson Valley Inn.   We enjoyed our lunch along with wine and a Laguinitas for Ken.

The water is so clear..chilly too but didn't stop some
people!

Darrell Goza...a thinking bench..there were quite a few
and comfy too

Yep, we're coming back :)

Homeward bound and eventually I took my nap :) LOL.  The only time I take a nap during the day is when we're driving home from there! Got ourselves home and a little later we headed over to John and Karen's for our 2nd Happy Hour..LOL.  We didn't stay too long but it was a nice visit!

Saturday morning it was 0500 and we got ourselves up. Visited with our online friends, letter wrote to Seth and the day began!  Where it's gone too..I have no idea.  Ken decided to massacre  trim our juniper trees out front.  Their growth is interfering with our front porch sittin and the views of the mountains.  Seriously, they're not pretty right now but the green will fill in and it needed to be done.
I should have taken a pic before, but..they will green out
shortly

I ran to Raley's for a few things and then came home and decided to bake Ken's apple oatmeal muffins and my flourless chocolate chip cookies. I got some stuff ready for dinner and called Ken's mom just because I was thinking about her. :)

Christina sent these pics of Mason and Jackson's family out on the lake. Union Valley I think..Mason went camping with them and it looks like he had a blast!
Mason and Jackson on the tube!

Turn around Mason, you're driving the boat!

That's better!

Mason and Jackson!  Good friends!

Looking all serious !! LOL.

Christina said they received a letter from Seth and he wrote one to Mason too. Mason will be happy once he gets home tomorrow and gets that letter :) Seth is doing well, fighting being sick along with the other 80+ guys all sleeping in the same area! Welcome to boot camp! LOL...
Now, Happy Hour! Hope you all are enjoying yours!

  1. Sounds like great times! I'm glad you went to Nevada Beach rather than stay home and work! Life is short! :) The work will still be there when you return.
Great pictures, the water looks beautiful for your yakking. Mason and Jackson aren't looking serious, that is their sexy look. :)
