Lake Havasu, a cool day and a nice drive..

Yesterday (Saturday) we headed for Lake Havasu leaving here about 1030 or so.  Because of the lack of a good signal here at La Paz I was able to post the blog from in front of the laundromat there.  What else are you gonna do while waiting for clothes to wash and dry?!
Boondockers on the way to Lake Havasu

Lake Havasu...

Bill Williams Wildlife Area ..so pretty..

Once that chore was done we headed for O Reillys to get a suction thing for the water bucket.  Technical I know..but anyway he was able to get it. (and it works)!

Looking for a US Bank for Ken to get some $$ but apparently Lake Havasu doesn't like that bank as they're all closed.  Oh well, then it was lunch time so Ken looked for a nice parking spot to have our sandwiches we brought.  Well, that was difficult so we ended up in the Walmart parking lot which was our last stop.  Sandwiches hit the spot and then into the store.  Spent some $$ and then headed over to Hangar 24 a brewery at the little airport.  It was around 1430 when we headed there, walked in and walked out! It was so crowded, so we'll check it out another time.

We headed back to camp and enjoyed the evening. Ken bar b qued some pork chops we had been marinating in italian dressing for a few days and they turned out awesome.  He got out the little campfire and we enjoyed that until the winds were up.  So we called it a night.
His new gadget to put water into the trailer..works awesome!

Pork, potato and broccoli ..so good!

Both of us were up at 0500 this morning so started the coffee and enjoyed visiting with our blogging friends.  After showers and breakfast, we took a walk in the wind and decided to take a drive, either that or stay in the trailer. We headed to Parker, crossed into CA and made the drive up to Parker Dam. We've done this a few times, but a nice drive anyway.

This afternoon the winds and temps kept us inside and we watched one of my favorite movies, Overboard with Kurt Russell, (be still my teenage heart) and Goldie Hawn.  I can't tell you how many times i've watched it, but still tear up at the end.  We also saw some old cowboy movie that Ken got in a group of 4 for like $5.00 at Walmart.  But it wasn't bad. Once Upon A Texas Train, had a lot of older cowboy stars, Willie Nelson, Chuck Connors and more. Filmed in Mescal, AZ.

We played a game, CLUE that I bought cheaply at Christmas.  A little confusing for us, but it was ok.  Then time for dinner, which was delicious leftovers. Nice and easy!

Tomorrow we move on, headed towards Quartzsite.  We'll see how that all goes with the government being shut down, but we'll deal.

Have a great evening..Pictures from today will have to wait as the internet signal isn't the greatest..

My Great Nephew Owen and Donald Duck at
Disneyland..kinda thinks he likes Donald..:))

  1. Nice pictures of the rain clouds. Probably never hit the ground though.

Seems to crowded everywhere nowadays, but wait till you get to Quartzsite if you want to see crowds. Enjoy the drive.

    1. No we never saw any rain, but looked threatening..kinda like Nevada, very rarely do we get any rain either. Guess we'll find out later today as we head that way. We're usually here towards the end of the big tent, not as crowded.

  2. Nice that you are getting caught up, and relaxed. Busy in Quartzite but we have a pretty quiet spot back here at La Posa south, and nobody at the gate to sell you a permit right now either. Travel safe.

Your supper looks delicious. Perfect 4H meal in colour and taste. :)
The winds can sure change plans but an indoor day can be fun as you just proved.
I take so many pictures when I'm in the Lake Havasu and Parker areas, it is so pretty.

  5. This is our first time at Quartzsite during the Big Tent Show, we usually come later, but have been pleasantly surprised as far as being parked in LaPosa South. We thought we would feel crowded and that is not the case at all where we are parked. We would do this again.
If those clouds were coming across the lake at home we would be rained on in no time. It always surprises me out here that the rain does not seem to hit the ground.
Hope you had a nice travel day.
