Boulder City, NV and a beautiful day at camp!

Good Morning from Beautiful Lake Mead National Recreation Area

06:39 really..got to change the clock...It was a beautiful sunrise..

Yesterday (Wednesday the 17th) we got up eventually and got the day going with coffee, computing and visiting with our blogging friends.  I should pay some bills but this is more fun. :)
Our sunrise yesterday!

We had ourselves some breakfast and got ourselves ready to head out.  It was about 1030.  Headed to Boulder City which is only a few miles away.  On the way we noticed some cars pulled over to the side of the road.  Hmmm..Mountain goats!  A small herd of them eating grass right next to the highway. We never seem to see them where they're supposed to be but here they are right on the highway that heads to Vegas!

Our spot here at the lake...

These guys were something to see

We headed for Albertsons for a few things, gas too.  Then into the historic district and visited a couple of antique (?) stores.  Walked around and then headed into Boulder Dam Brewing Company.  Again, I'm not much of a beer drinker (cold Corona Light on a hot day).  Ken enjoys IPA's so had to try a couple.  He liked them, I had a glass of wine.  We enjoy checking out a brewery now and then in different places.  Our son Russell is one of the founders of Sacramento Beer Enthusiasts (beer drinking club as our other son Eric calls it).  It has over 15000 members on Facebook, so I like to post a picture or two on there.

Ocho Loco IPA..just freshly brewed

Historic Old Town..very busy!

The Museum..

Headed towards home..

We didn't eat in town, just decided to head back to camp and we had some of our veggie wraps for lunch about 1330.  Then outside to enjoy this beautiful weather.  It wasn't real warm, mid 60's but still nice. I attempted to read my book, and talk with my hubby at the same time.  He got the bar b q ready for some hot dogs we were going to grill later and he got the fire pit ready so we could have a nice fire later.

Since I was in my reclining chair (thanks Bryan)..just relaxing Ken brought me a glass of wine, so with my book, nice weather, wine and my hubby I really enjoyed the afternoon. (Probably too much)..hahaha..
The sun was lowering on the mountains..

Fire's going!

Eventually we ate, and called it a night.

Today (Thursday) we move on.  We're headed for Parker, AZ and LaPaz County Park for a few days if we can get a site.  We always have so we're hoping this will be no different.  We've got a little over 170 miles to go so guess I'll get this posted and get moving.  Hard to do with this beautiful view of Lake Mead and the mountains surrounding us...

Have a great day!

  3. Wow that would have been exciting seeing the goats! I love things like that to surprise us! You can watch for burrows and goats where the signs are and never see them so you got a rare treat!
Enjoy Parker and take it slow and easy. 61F can be plenty hot in the sun, so we've learned!
