Jacob's going away party..Hawthorne Ordnance Museum..

Shawn, Ken and I left here yesterday morning to head for Sacramento.  We got to Verdi near the CA /NV border and stopped at the restaurant there for a yummy breakfast.  That would hold us all day!

Once we left the restaurant Shawn got a head start and headed to his home in Citrus Heights. We were in no hurry so we drove down by our old house we sold about 8 years ago. It's hidden up a driveway but from the looks of it, the same buyer still owns it.  We stopped by the hotel, but still too early to check in.  We headed over to Bass Pro in Rocklin and outside Ken saw a couple of guys he used to work with.  Jason and Mike had been inside to get a fishing license, now they were looking at boats. We visited with them for a bit before taking a walk around the store.  Nothing jumped out at us so we left empty handed.  By then it was time to check in.

The rest of the afternoon was just being lazy at the hotel until about 1840 Eric, Christina and Mason picked us up to head for Old Town Pizza and the going away party for grandson, Jacob.  Thanks for the pick up and drop off Eric!

What a busy place the pizza parlor was along with the whole old town of Roseville, CA.  Glad we weren't ordering pizza and eating in, as there was a long line of people waiting. Lori had reserved one of the back rooms for the party.  Lots of people there to wish Jacob well in his new adventure with the Navy!

Lot's of good pizza!

We had a great time visiting with people we haven't seen in a long time as well as meeting new people. About 2040 it was winding down and we said good night to everyone.  Eric dropped us back at the motel and then after a glass of wine and a beer we headed for bed.

Saturday morning I had coffee ready to go at 0630 so we leisurely got ourselves going.  We decided we'd stop at Verdi on the way home for lunch as we both didn't want anything this morning.

All was looking good and then the weather changed to snow.  Didn't affect us as the Patriot is 4 wd.  Traffic really slow so it took us longer than it should've, but no worries we weren't in a hurry.

We had a lovely lunch and then headed home.  We got here around 1430.  Put stuff away, got a fire going and now it's time to enjoy the rest of the day. :)

Thursday morning Ken and Shawn met our neighbor Joe for breakfast at Dini's in town.  That gave me time to clean and get ready to go when they got back.  We thought we'd take Shawn to the ordnance museum in Hawthorne, about an hour away.  He really liked it and I have to admit it's a pretty cool museum in a little town and free admission. We spent some time there and close to 1300 we headed over to El Capitan Casino and had a yummy lunch.  Rather than come back the same way Ken brought up going on a drive we were on a few months ago that comes near the ghost town of Aurora, NV.

I love this Navy Dinnerware!

It was a beautiful drive and we even hit some snow. Made the desert even more pretty.  It took longer than an hour, but really what did we have to do.  Once we got home we just stayed inside with a fire going.  Ken wanted to have a fire outside, but it was just too cold and the wind was up.

You can see the road down below where we're headed...

It was nice of Shawn to visit and hopefully he'll come back when it's nicer weather in the Spring.

So we're here until Monday morning when we'll head back over to Sacramento.  We've got reservations at the airport Super8.  Tuesday morning we'll head to MEPS to watch Jacob get sworn into the Navy! We'll head back home after that. Wouldn't miss his swearing in for anything! I'll have tissues with me for sure, some for his mom and sweetie too! 💖💗

Time for a quiet Happy Hour just Ken and me tonight.  Have a great evening! :)

Jacob and Allissa, Shawn's here, Adam heads home

Warning! Cute couple overload!

Allissa (Grandson Jacob's Sweetie) texted me this morning that she and Jacob had pictures taken and she wanted me to see them before she put them on Facebook.  Isn't that the sweetest thing. Well, this grandma teared up so I have to share them with you! I'm trying to post a video that Allissa sent me (the tears that flowed on that one) but it's not cooperating yet..

💕
Over 4 years of togetherness! 💗

Jacob, our Sailor to be next Tuesday.  He's always been our charmer
with that smile :) 💙  We sure are going to miss him, but so proud of him
for joining the United States Navy! 💗

This video is set to a song that Jacob sings to Allissa :)
Our brother in law Shawn got here yesterday around 1100 so he and Ken hung out. Yesterday afternoon the two of them headed over to the gun range for a few hours and shot who knows how many rounds!

Adam took himself on a couple of hour quad ride out on BLM land.
Adam's ready for a quad ride!

Later in the afternoon Ken made a fire out back so we had our Happy Hour. Later in the evening Karen, Lynsie and Carlos came  over to visit and meet Shawn and see Adam.

Shawn looking at the stars..

Ken bar b qued some chicken and I made sides. It was a delicious meal.

This morning, Wednesday we were up around 0600 visiting with our blogging friends and having coffee.  Adam left here about 0900 to head home. We are so glad he came for a few days. :)  Safe travels sweetie!
Adam getting ready to go! He's set with his new Yakima

Ken and Shawn headed out to the BLM for a long ride, coming home through town. Then they loaded up in the Dodge to take another ride to the top of the mountain.  I stayed home making a meat loaf and some banana bread. Finally got the Jayco bed made from when we had company.  Doesn't seem like I have much energy in the afternoons lately :(  Still have head cold/sinus issues.  Better but not perfect!
The Dodge at the top of the mountain!

Well, have a good evening it's nearing Happy Hour!!

Mason..over the hill..Carson City..home again..Adam's coming for a visit!

It wasn't a too exciting time for Mason while he was here, but I think he enjoyed the vacation before heading back to 9th grade.  We were able to take him out to lunch twice. Once at Dini's and once at Sherry's Stage Stop.  Dini's Casino definitely the better of the lunch's but always nice to try a new place.
Mason popping a wheelie!

Friday we thought we were going to have Bella over for a bit, but she ended up going to stay with her dad in the southern CA area.  It was a surprise for all let's say.  Teenage girls!

Thursday and Friday Ken and Mason went on quad rides so I know he enjoyed that.  Friday we touched base with Eric and he offered to meet me in Verdi, near the CA NV border.  He's very sweet that way.  We planned on meeting at 1100 and I was going to buy him lunch :) Saturday morning we're up and going when we checked the weather and found it was snowing over the hill. uh oh..Eric has a four wheel drive truck but would cost a fortune to drive over the hill and we knew the traffic would suck.  He works for a living, we don't so figured we had more time than he does.

Mason heading out

Some of the way Mason spent his time

We got on the road about 0900.  Before we left home Ken said we should take a change of clothes just in case we didn't come home.  Good idea. We hit traffic about 4 miles before the chain up area near Donner.  Oh boy.  It didn't look bad but the sign said chains required.  About 2 miles before, traffic started moving slowly YAY!  Bottom line it took us about 4 hrs and 15 minutes to get to Auburn from home, so not too bad.  We met Eric and Christina at Edelweiss Restaurant and enjoyed a great lunch and visit 💖💙

After lunch we said good bye to them and to Mason.  We'll see them again on the 10th at Old Town Pizza in Roseville for Jacob's good bye party :( :) Mixed emotions..Very proud of him!

On the way over I made reservations for that night in Carson City at the Days Inn we've stayed many times. Got a great rate.  We stopped at Total Wine in Reno on the way to Carson.  Because of our late lunch, no dinner needed.
I love this pic of Seth face timing his parents

Saturday morning we woke up about 0700!  We were out of there around 0900 and headed to Betsy's Big Kitchen for a wonderful breakfast and hugs from Carmen :)  They have the best coffee and it's only $1.00!  Afterwards we headed for Lowe's and picked up some briquets and a new propane bottle.  Then to Walmart for some much needed shopping.   After that we headed home getting here around 1400.  Ken wanted enchiladas and coleslaw for dinner so I worked on that for awhile.  Karen called around 1600 and invited us over for burgers and dogs, we declined but agreed to head over for Happy Hour.

Kids and grandkids were there and they started a huge fire. Conversation flowed as did the wine (to be expected right?)  We headed home around 1900.
Karen's grandkids out by the fire..
They are the sweetest kids :)

Had a great dinner. Ken enjoyed his and I enjoyed my veggie enchilada. There's enough for leftovers tonight so I'm liking that!!

Today (Monday) was a stay at home day.   I did a little baking as we were out of treats as of today.  Some cleaning also as I asked Ken about putting some shelves in the closet that is/ was the boys room (the green room).  Now that they are all grown it's changed into a guest room.  I pulled most of the games etc out of there and will be donating to the Boys and Girls Club Thrift Shop in town.  Hopefully some other younger boys can enjoy. Bittersweet to say the least 😔

Grandson Adam called this morning.  He's been on a mini vacation this week so he took a trip to Bend, Oregon to see a friend of his.  Yes, our little gypsy.  He's been on his own for a few days so said he'd like to come here for a day or so before he heads back to work. Of course we said we would love to have him.  He was stopping by Lava Beds National Monument and we would either see him tonight or tomorrow. :0 Just got a text he's headed here..should be here in a couple of hours :)

Russell and Jacob were able to go fishing yesterday with Russell's friend Jimmy..had to steal a couple of pics from FB...
Russell with a catch

That green pole was Russell's Christmas present this year :)

Our Sailor to be next week...Jacob!

Again another catch...

Enjoying a glass of wine with the hubby right now and decided I need to get this done once again.  Have a good evening!

Happy New Years! Mason is back :)

Picture from when the kids were here..Allissa, me
Holly and Jacob enjoying the fire

Monday morning at about 1000 we went next door and load into Karen's truck for a drive out to Fallon to pick up a vintage all in one stove, fridge, sink that Karen bought a few weeks ago when we were at the antique store.  It's very cool in my opinion and she got a bargain when she bought it.

We did a little shopping and then John was getting hungry so we headed over to Stockman's Casino for a delicious lunch. Thanks John for picking up the tab.  With full tummies we loaded back up and headed for a nice drive home.

Once we got here I came home and wanted to get started on the things I was making for New Years Eve over at Karen's house.  Cake, cookies, spinach dip and some kielbasa pieces for the crockpot.  Glad I was doing this today as Mason and I had been going back and forth, he got permission to come back over for a few days.  If any of the grandkids want to come, you bet I'll go and get them :)

As it was I could feel a cold coming on :(  It seems everyone has had it going around so it didn't surprise me.  Was hoping to beat it, but not. The last time I had a cold was two years ago on New Years Eve.

Tuesday morning, I left the house about 0630 and got to Mason's about 1000.  A quick hug (with my face turned the other way haha) to Seth as he would be leaving Wednesday morning for MOS School.  We loaded up and headed home. A quick stop in Reno for a fast food lunch (GASP) I didn't feel guilty as I took the bread off the junior hamburger.  We arrived home about 1430.

We headed over nearing 1700 for a nice fire and chit chat.  I left around 2300 because I was feeling bad. Ken walked me home and he went back to see the new year in.  I had a hot toddy and then off to bed! Mason came home to the bunkhouse around 0130 and Ken at 0230.  Karen sent me the following pictures as I wasn't there 😔

I was finally awake about 0830! That's late for us.  Coffee etc and then Ken mentioned giving me a break from the kitchen and let's go to Dini's for lunch.  Sounds good.

We headed out a little before 1300 and found people waiting in line...hmm not good.  Sherry's Stage stop was closed along with the Mexican Restaurant. Guess that explains the line at Dini's as it's in a casino which is always open.  By the time we got back to Dini's no line! Great! Good food and then back home. A very lazy afternoon and come dinner time no one was hungry.  Before heading out to the bunkhouse, Mason had some cookies and milk.

Ken headed for bed pretty early as he's got a cold coming on..surprise surprise!  I made a hot toddy and joined him later.  Had a great night's sleep and awoke with a little more energy today.  Head is still stopped up, so we'll see how the day goes.

Seth headed out yesterday for his MOS station after being home for 9 days. 💙

Have a great day!
