A great week at Johnny's property, Races and friendship!

All of the group except our host, Johnny.  Johnny gives us all shirts every
year. This one is really special as it is the 10th year of this event!

Our host, Johnny! I swear he's always smiling and just has
the best personality! 💙

Last Tuesday the 13th we headed out to Silver Springs with the Cargo trailer. It had our Can Am and other camping stuff in it. We caught our friends Johnny and Kelli already out there enjoying themselves. We hadn't planned on staying Tuesday night, but we went home and quickly loaded the Mansion full of stuff and headed back out there. Joel and Randi were there too.

Wednesday morning more people started showing up and by the afternoon there was a huge group. I think bigger than any we've seen before. Joel and Ross contributed and cooked tri tips for dinner and other side dishes were contributed too. YUMMY!!

Thursday was a ride for most of them to Gabbs, NV for a buffet luncheon. Their ride was six hours long and ours was 1 1/2 hours or so. Ken drove our truck, Vicki and Albert came along with us.

We did make a stop at Middlegate, NV and had a drink at the bar there. We had time to kill LOL.

A really cool little place, would hate to see it burn down
with all that $$ all over the ceilings! They have great burgers
too we are told!

We arrived earlier than the crew out in the desert. R and D's Bar and Grill sits in the the tiny town of Gabbs up in the mountains. For several years now they put out an amazing buffet for Johnny's group. Meat, salads, potatoes, corn and on and on. Then strawberry shortcake with freshly whipped cream. OH mY. This year there was an added dessert to commemorate 10 years of this ride! Vicki and Albert managed to get their  cake from Colfax to Silver Springs and then to Gabbs. One amazing feat! 😃

Tasted as good as it looks too!

Awesome tri tip was the main course!

We spent a couple of hours there and then everyone headed out. The group ride would be about 4 hours back going a different route. Our route was the same 106 miles other than no stop at Middlegate.

Friday Vicki made delicious biscuits and gravy for everyone! So good loaded with sausage! There may have been a mimosa or two consumed also!

It's called "follow the shade" YUMMY breakfast!

About 1030 we headed out to the spot in the desert to watch the Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno races. Lucked out this year it wasn't as hot as years past.

Joe's side by side with Old Glory flying high!

Some of the group watching and waiting for racers

Yeah dust was kicked up whenever someone went by..

3 of the trucks had helicopters with them. $$$$

Time to head home...

Out of order, but part of the group heading out in the am for Gabbs

Hot dogs, corn dogs, sides were consumed through out the day. Maybe a beer or two LOL. Great fun! Nearing dusk we headed back as we didn't want to be out after dark.

We gathered by Vicki and Albert's fifth wheel for the shade. As people came in they all joined us. Another great evening with great friends.

Saturday morning was pretty easy going. The group was going on another ride later in the morning. Ken hooked up to the cargo trailer and we said our goodbyes. Brought it home and then later in the day headed back to pick up the Mansion. Luckily Johnny's place is only about 30 minutes away.

While we were here we went into town and watched the County Fair parade. A little slow, but there were a few good contestants. Next year I'll probably pass.

Lyon County SWAT

Yep, that's Yerington

We had a good evening here at home, visited with Karen and the pups who missed us.

Sunday we continued our tradition of Champagne Sunday. We decided on a cauliflower pizza and again so yummy! A slow day for me. Another visit later with the pups and Karen.

Amazing one more time!

Now today being Monday we ran into town and visited the Yerington Family Vision Center. Made appointments for eye exam beginning of September. I've been wearing reading glasses forever but it's time to get some real ones 😱

Grandson Adam with his thumb up. Celebrating Smokey's 80th Birthday.
He put on a presentation with this group at the campground.

Adam giving a talk to about 60 new Junior Rangers! Way to go kids!

Daughter in law Christina got a new car! Subaru Forrester...

Just a fun picture of Christina (on the left) and friends out at a flower farm!

Karen's cooking us linner this afternoon so we'll head over soon. A tasty way to end Monday!

I'll be heading to the coast with my sister, Linda and her family this next weekend. Looking so forward to that. 😊💟

Well, this is probably long enough to bore you all so I'll sign off until the next time! Have a great evening!

Quick catch up...Adam and Erin visit, Reno, Rio Linda, Gardnerville. New stairs and new truck for Russell :)

Well, I have no idea where the time has gone since the last post! I'll start with last weekend though when Adam and Aaron came to visit us on Sunday.

They didn't get here until the evening as Adam had to work. They came in two different cars as Erin would be leaving here on a 3 1/2 week trip by herself. Sounds like quite an adventure to us. She will hit the Tetons, Glacier, Canada and then over toward the west. Adam has vacation starting the 18th so I am sure they'll meet up somewhere before heading home. Oh to be young again! 😋

Enjoying the pups next door

Erin's car is set up for camping!

Bye Erin! Safe travels!!

We had a nice couple of days with them before they both headed out. She on Tuesday and he on Wednesday morning to go to work.

Ken's new project was making some front steps. Ever since we moved in we've had a wheelchair ramp out front. Didn't bother us any, except in the summer it bothered me as underneath at the front is where the lizards hung out (ewww). So, after 11 1/2 years it's looking pretty ghetto. Either needs replacement or torn apart and steps made. Guess what?! I won, steps! YAY! LOL.

They are looking pretty good and now need painting (my job) it's so hot though I'm waiting for a cool down. Soon though.

Coming along nicely..

Nothing else really new. We've made a trip to Reno for Total Wine and a few other stops.

Friday Ken headed over to Rio Linda to pick up another load of firewood from our friend KC. I took the time and went grocery shopping in Gardnerville.

Yesterday Ken worked on a project for Karen. Our little town is having a contest for the businesses in town. I forget the actual theme but has some thing to do with country. Ken built the frames and put the shower curtains on the frame so they could be in the front of Karen's shop, NOT JUST CANDLES. Pretty cute I think.

Karen's storefront

Tuesday we will take the cargo trailer with the Can Am out to Silver Springs. Meeting up with friends for the Best in the Desert Races (Vegas to Reno). We do this every year. Last year we missed as we were on our way to Arkansas moving Bryan and Cheryl. Wednesday morning we'll head over with the Mansion and spend a few days for fun with friends! 😃

Last year we were headed to Arkansas

Today was Champagne Sunday so we enjoyed that before going to Karen's shop to get the things put up. No pictures of brunch but was delicious. Salmon burger for him, turkey burger for me along with a few fries. YUM!

A nice morning with my sweetie!

Yesterday's news, youngest son Russell got himself a new 2024 GMC Duramax truck. Talked with him last night and he's a happy camper!

Think he's happy!!

Allissa sent me a link to her's and Jacob's  first home in San Diego. It's beautiful (should be for the price) LOL She moves on the 22nd and still no word on when he comes home as the Navy has extended his deployment. 😢 Hopefully soon! 💙

Well, that's about it I think.

Quite the picture in the Tetons!

Have a great evening. Gonna check and see what the hubby is up to!
