Tuesday morning we headed to Fernley to visit that Lowe's. We finally decided what wood we wanted for the kitchen and they had it!
We got there and looked all over and had a couple of associates help us. Two guys who have helped us before found it. A brand new band of 156 pieces of 1x4x12. They had to get the fork lift and bring it down. These two guys are a really cute team together. ๐ Always happy and smiling.
60 pieces of wood and some nails for the nail gun $513.00 out the door! Ouch. Definitely would have been more if we'd chosen another wood. We are nearing the end of the most expensive stuff, pavers for the floor will be next. We're talking about having a load of gravel delivered so that'll hurt too ๐
We knew when buying this wood their would be some air gaps, but perfection in the walls isn't what we're looking for. We're looking for character HAHA. |
Yesterday Ken had an appointment for service for the Tundra so we took separate vehicles and stopped at Betsy's Big Kitchen for breakfast. YUM! Dropped the Tundra off and in my car we headed for the hospital so Ken could get a lung X-ray for his appointment next Tuesday. Nothing is wrong, the lung dr just does this every 6 months before his appointment.
I waited in the car as they're still requiring masks. I can sit in the car mask free LOL. He was done pretty quickly and they had called saying the Tundra was finished. Picked it up and headed home.
Ken worked on the kitchen until it time to head next door for Happy Hour with the pups. We came home and had dinner then headed back over to spend the night.
The side and back work from today. |
Inside looking out... |
Today (Thursday) we took it really easy and Ken didn't get started until about 1200 LOL. It's nice and warm but the darn wind is up again. It'll be cooling down starting Saturday for most of next week.
End of today the back wall
John and Karen made their 1st destination of Durant, OK to see his daughter and meet his 1st grandson in person.
A fire and a well deserved drink! Enjoy you two! ๐
Happy Hour for us now. Heading next door ๐ท๐บ๐๐ถ
The kitchen looks great, good idea to get as much done while it's dry and warmer. Darn wind though!
ReplyDeleteDoes Ken realize he still ended up cutting each board anyway, just at opposite ends? Ha ha Love his thinking though!
Stetson's a cutie patootie but he's wondering why Grandpa John is wearing HIS hat! ♥
Cutting the boards that way kept him from bending over to cut each board separately. This was much quicker LOL. The wind sucks and not going away any time soon! Darn. Yep, probably exactly what Stetson's thinking :)
DeleteIt won't be long before you are sitting in your kitchen having a cup of jo, enjoying the view!
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan if only life didn't get in the way LOL.
DeleteI can't wait to see how you decorate the kitchen. It's looking GREAT!! Love the babies expression ... who the heck is THAT?????
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy..I'm anxious too! You got that right about the baby :)
DeleteKitchen is coming along. When that's finished what will Ken work on next? LOL!
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Thanks Rick and honestly I have no idea. We've pretty much said this is our last big project..but gotta keep him busy! LOL
