More work and $$ on the Kountry Kitchen! Aaron visits another college! Owen and Cassidy have breakfast with the Easter Bunny! Grandma's home from the hospital!

Well, we made another trip to Lowe's our home away from home right now LOL. This time we went to the one in Fernley, so only about 55 miles from here. We were home before lunchtime.

We decided it was time to get the tin for the roof and what we're doing on the sides of the outdoor kitchen. The checker asked what we were building. We told her and she said good thing we're buying it now as everything is going up! We could tell that just by the prices of the corrugated tin!

Here's what $763.00 will get you..3 bags of concrete, 7 sheets of corrugated
tin, 7 sheets of roofing tin and some metal post caps 😱

He's got kickers on the posts and he poured that last pier in the middle..the
orange bucket will be removed LOL.

We got home and Ken got to work in the horrendous wind we've had all week! Today is no exception!

Thursday morning he went outside to work on the kitchen and discovered we got the wrong post caps for the 4x4s so he had to go back to Fernley Lowe's to return them. I was working on Bryan and Cheryl's taxes so I stayed behind.

He got back and told the story of a young guy in line behind him. Lowe's always asks if you're a veteran or pro customer. The answer is always no to both. The guy says "Here use my card, they f*** ing price gouge us here so use mine".  He swipes his card so Ken got 10% off the purchase.  Where was he when we were spending $700+ LOL.  I told Ken that means he was a veteran as they get 10% and Pro customers get 5%.  What a sweetheart! Russell, thought you'd like that story πŸ’™ Probably a Marine as he talks just like you πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Yeah, that got me when Ken was telling the storyπŸ’™

So it was about 1315 when he headed outside to start working on the kitchen.

He did really well considering it was after 1300 when he started.

This will be our view out the front of the kitchen..not bad 😊

We're planning on at least one window in the back of the kitchen, so this would
be a partial view

At the end of Thursday

End of Friday. You can't tell in this picture but the roof will have a slight (6inch)
difference the front will be taller.  We'll have another trip to Lowe's in the near
future, but we're (HE) getting there!

It will be open in the front with 3 sides..hopefully two windows on the
back wall..Lowes has the size we would like, but not til August! So nope!

Love the gussets  he made!
Ready for the corrugated tin on the bottom 36 inches high. Some kind of wood
will go on the top rest of the wall..

View from our back porch..this afternoon...I'm in love!!

Grandson Aaron visited another college today with his dad. So I'm quoting from FB
as I have no idea what this means..Collegiate Showcase in Stockton.

Aaron played really well as a DB but actually got invited the MVP session as an OLB!
Path to the Next Level...College FOOTBALL! Someone said OLB is Beast Mode!

Looks like Aaron meeting the coach if I had to guess

Aaron at check in I'm assuming

My sister Linda went to Breakfast with the Easter Bunny with her son, daughter in law and grandkidsπŸ’–

The Easter Bunny, Linda and Owen (Cassidy wanted no part of the Easter
Bunny)

Owen getting his face painted...Look at those gorgeous roses!
Miss Cassidy made some bunny ears to match her bootsπŸ’–
They grow up so quickly!!

Last but not least definitely...Ken's mom was in the hospital this week for a few days. They were thinking it was a heart attack, but it wasn't Thank God! She's home and doing fine and we're alll happy about that!! Love you Grandma!πŸ’–

Tomorrow we'll head to Karen's for Easter with her family. Monday is Reno for Habitat for Humanity to see if we can find windows we like. Lowe's of course! LOL .
Have a great evening! Happy Hour with the hubby!!🍷🍺

Russell, Lori and Aaron visit! A special gift for Ken! Cold and wind! We have two posts on the kitchen :)

Sunday afternoon Russell, Lori and Aaron arrived. We were very happy to see them and it was a nice afternoon!  We visited on the front porch for awhile and then moved back to the concrete area out back.

Aaron, Lori and Russell...πŸ’™πŸ’—
Lori and Russell will celebrate 25 years of marriage next month πŸ’•

Before we went out back Russell told a story and then gave Ken a new AR15!  πŸ’™ πŸ’– Customized and beautiful! We have to say a heartfelt Thank You to Russell, Lori, and friends Dee and Katie for this special gift!

Such an incredible gift! Complete with bag, cleaning supplies and more!πŸ’™

We had a nice fire and Ken barbecued hamburgers and a couple of turkey burgers. I made fries and onion rings but the onion rings were burnt so out they went. Fries were good though.  Karen came over and visited so a very nice night. We actually didn't call it quits until 0100!

Russell and Aaron went for a night ride in the Can Am. 😁 They weren't gone too long but enjoyed themselves.

After going to bed the wind blew and howled all night long!! It continued all day Monday. Made some yummy breakfast sandwiches in the morning. Aaron had six pieces of french toast and bacon instead.

Aaron and Russell went for a quick ride, Aaron on the 700 and Russell in the Can Am. Cold and windy so they weren't gone too long but Aaron likes speed so they had a good one πŸ˜‚

Aaron on the quad, Russell in the Can AM

Lori and I ran to Raley's while they were gone. I had planned on ham, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole for Monday dinner but Aaron said he really was hoping for my enchiladas so that's why the trip to Raley's πŸ˜ƒ Russell said that's what he wanted too.

On the way back I noticed Karen's front fence was falling over from the winds so Ken, Russell and Aaron spent some time adding kickers and standing it back up.  Didn't envy them in the 40-60 mph winds.

The afternoon and evening was spent in the house as it was too miserable to be outside! We called it a night quite a bit earlier than the night before LOL.

I love this picture πŸ’™ Russell is telling his dad all the ins and out of this gun!

Today, after breakfast we headed over to the gun range that's only a couple of miles from our house.  The boys shot guns and Ken enjoyed learning about, and shooting his new one 😊 Fun to watch all of them!

                                                 Aaron
This isn't the video I wanted of Russell, but I can't delete it.

After we got back, Russell and Aaron headed out for their last Can Am ride of this trip.  They came back cold and with freezing hands. The wind and cold is back! They all loaded up and were out of here about 1200 to head back home to Antelope, CA. So glad they came out! Short visit better than no visit! πŸ’™

The last ride before they left..Aaron got the Can Am up to 68 miles per hour!!

Good Bye you three! See you soon!

After they left I did laundry, etc until I didn't want to anymore. Ken was working on the outside kitchen so decided to supervise for a bit. Cold and windy so I had a hoody and a jacket on, but I had to do my job! LOL. He got the bottom plate down, so I can really tell how big it is! He decided to get a couple of posts up with kickers so I was able to help him with that. About 1630 so time to call it quits!

Now I can see the size 12x20πŸ˜†

I posted the other day about the ugly tumbleweeds being housing for quail and
bunnies. The wind the last two days took care of that!

Two
Two posts and kickers are up!! See the supervisor chair LOL..

Happy Hour is inside tonight as it's still too cold and windy to be outside.

This has been an awesome couple of days having family visit and just enjoying their company. Allissa (Jacob's sweetie) face timed last night so we could talk with her. Connection wasn't very good but still a nice little visit. πŸ’—

Me and my bright ideas $$$.. :) Company coming! A cute puppy,

Ken spent a few days this week helping out our neighbor John.  John has a heavy duty trailer that they want to take to Oklahoma to see what goodies they can find to bring home at the beginning of May. The trailer needed new springs put on and the wheel bearings packed. Ken offered to do it as John is in CA working.

Before Ken added the new springs the fender was almost
sitting on the tires :)

Ken brought it over here and parked it on the concrete to be worked on. Looks awesome now and they can haul some good stuff on it! LOL. They're also going to see his 1st grandson Stetson Lee, in Oklahoma. :)

He got it done and back over to John's house ready for their trip! Now back to work on my outside kitchen! LOL.

As you can see there will be dirt that has to be moved! The cement areas are level

That stick is called the "story pole".

Along with this eye level it tells you the story of when it's level. I hold the story pole, he sights it in
and then we know how far off it is one way or another. Sure is nice to have the
right tools!

Had our first Happy Hour right outside the new kitchen LOL! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ƒ

We took Friday and headed for Reno for a Total Wine pickup :) Then to Walmart for groceries in Carson City and while we were there Lowe's for some framing lumber. We took our 12 foot trailer so that was perfect!

After checking out I told Ken he's got to learn how to say NO to me! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I told him I might pout awhile but I'd get over it. LOL. After almost 50 years guess that's not happening. Sticker shock at the check out! 😱😱

We had these two carts with framing materials

$832.00 right there 😱😱 See why he should have said NO! LOL
Oh well, guess he wants it as much as I do. Can't take it with
you right?!

Then to Betsy's for linner and then home.

Saturday we were home except I took a quick trip to Raley's for a few things I didn't get at Walmart. Ken got the last two blocks cemented in.

We've got company coming for a few days! Russell, Lori and Aaron will be coming on Sunday with plans to go home on Tuesday. 😍

Russell and another dad took Aaron (2nd from the right)and a few friends to get a
look at UCLA in a whirlwind one day turnaround trip. About
800 miles! What you won't do for your kids! πŸ’™πŸ’™

Meet Roxy the newest member of Eric, Christina and Mason's
family! A great Dane!

Mason worked yesterday so he got a nice surprise as they
weren't supposed to get her until today πŸ’™

Seth's bride, Holly. They went camping last weekend and he
sent me these pics πŸ’–

His truck got some new wheels a few months ago..looks
awesome Seth!

Ken stopped at a garage sale and we got this beauty (πŸ˜‰πŸ˜€) for $60.00
With a little paint job (Ken says no, I say yes) it'll be perfect for the
outside kitchen! Enough space on top to heat up a few things :)

Time to get this posted and wait for the kids to get here πŸ’–πŸ’™. Gonna be cool for riding but I'm betting it doesn't stop them.  We had 80's last week gonna be hard pressed to hit 60 today and cooler tomorrow. Oh well, we're just happy they're coming!!πŸ’™ Papa burgers tonight! Yum.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

A trip to Lowe's, The Hey Day Inn, Adam visits, RV fixes, Lucy

Saturday morning  we left here with our little trailer attached to the Tundra to head for Carson City Lowe's to pick up 12 bags of concrete. Prices up on them from $4.18 to $4.33.  Not a lot but still...We priced out some wood we were thinking about for the Kountry Kitchen and may have to change our mind about that too. LOL. 1x4x12 at almost $14.00 a piece..uh probably not! We'll figure out something.

After that it was a stop at Raley's in Gardnerville to pick up a couple of prescription refills. Then we headed towards home.

It was about 1230 as we were going through Smith Valley so Ken asked if I'd want to stop at the Hey Day Inn for lunch.  We've been meaning to stop there so that was the day.

Such a cute historical building and inside it was adorable. We were served by a very nice server with a big smile. We loved our lunches and I brought 1/2 mine home. We will be back!

Hey Day Inn established around 1875

We got home and we got 1/2 the gate fence covered with some wire fencing we picked up at Lowe's and then we waited for Adam to get here.  He planned on being here about 1630 but it was closer to 1800 when he got here. He ate my other  1/2 of sandwich and fries then I made him another grilled turkey and cheese sandwich.  Ken and I knew there'd be no dinner for us after lunch. 😊

We sat outside and visited for quite awhile as it was a nice night, then inside for some tv before going to bed.

Sunday morning after breakfast Adam took off in his truck and headed for the BLM not too far from here. Had himself a couple of nice hikes and then a little 4 wheeling.

We had El Sombreros for dinner, something I used to make for the kids when they still lived at home. Basically a huge tostada on a flour tortilla with all the goodies. He loved it. They were a huge signature dish for Jimboy's Tacos back in the day!

I used low carb tortillas (that's what I had here) so
it's not as big as it would have been with regular flour

Ken and I went next door a little later in the evening. Adam was content to stay here and enjoy by himself.

Monday morning about 1030 Adam took off for a 4 hour Can Am drive by himself. He enjoyed that immensely.

Dinner was barbecued chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. He told us this morning that he ate two chicken breasts and a thigh it was so good. Compliments to the hubby.

Ken and I went next door again as John was leaving this morning. A nice happy hour.

John and Karen and their little family (Mugsy and Lila) stopped by for a
minute

Adam was heading out today going by his parents place in Lincoln before heading to Chico where he lives. We were hoping the mail person would be here before he left as I got him a shirt that he wanted. Of course when you expect the mail person at a certain time they're running late. Oh well his birthday isn't until the 21st of this month. He left about 1100.

Adam, ready to hit the road

Bye Adam, see you next time! πŸ’™

Well, the cute contractor I hired to do the Kountry Kitchen has been wearing a few different hats lately. Today he became an RV mechanic. When we fired up the propane water heater on the cab over water started running everywhere. Today he removed it and we're going to order an tankless water heater to put in there.

The fifth wheel had water issues too, but now all is good. It's all coming together. He actually gave me a choice of what I wanted him to work on this morning and one was the kitchen. I chose the RVs and glad I did. Tomorrow he can get back into contractor mode! LOL.

Had some sad news out of Lincoln, CA yesterday morning. Lucy, one of Bryan and Cheryl's dogs passed away in her sleep. Tough days for Bryan and Cheryl. Lucy certainly had her own personality and was very special to everyone. πŸ˜“

Lucy, giving me the evil eye for taking
her picture πŸ’™

Russell got to go for a ride in a Huey Helicopter yesterday. Not sure how that happened but i'll have to find out.

Looks like a happy camper doesn't he?! πŸ’™

We've had a windy pretty cool day today with a warm up for the next few days then back to 50's and lows in the 20's GEEZ!

Well, it's Happy Hour time, with the wind it'll probably be inside. Have a good evening! 🍺🍷
